Hi all.

Some questions here. If i buy a D40 without lens.Body only. Then, what lens(with af) should i buy? Just for your info, I'm very new in this. So I will just take any photos. Budjet for lens about blw Rm700. Another question, I have a Tamron 70-300mm. Bought this few years back ago for my Nikon SLR. Is it possible to use it on D40?

I will suggest you to take together with D40 kit lens.
The lens is actually among the kit lens that ain't that bad. It's very sharp at f/8 smile.gif

yes u can...
all lenses from Ai to the current AF-S...is usable on ALL nikon DSLR...

u wont get to use the metering if u r using the beginner body...

means that i can use the lens? just need to manual focus myself? smile.gif and, will the lens spoil the camera body slowly?

Added on April 12, 2008, 11:25 ambtw, anyone willing to explain the lens for me. For example- Nikkor AF-S 18-55mm. What does the S stand for? AF is auto focus right? and what does f/3.5 means? focal length?

manual focus wont spoil the lens or body.

AF-S is the nikon's series of lenses that have a focusing motor, SWM.
