Many of my friends die before 50
I can said when my age reach 50

Some die,some in ICU, some suffered with diseases, high blood pressure and so on
Even we all eating healthy, supplement for 30 years and go gym

Tell me your secret to stay healthy.

Death is certain, when is not.

By the way, long life is not our choice either. Nonetheless no one should harm themselves by taking illegal drugs z excessive alcohol or overstressed.

It is common sense to eat moderately and exercise regularly. But it is a common practice for some?

Don't know about your friends. But here is what I do.

1) Have a body check-up annually. Many people don't even know they have diabetes, high blood pressure or have high cholesterol. Talk with your doctor about managing the problem. You need to follow up with further check-ups and monitoring to see if your diet and exercise work; I noticed doctors won't give you a call and ask you.
2) Eat lots of veggies and avoid low-quality fats (e.g. saturated fats), refined carbohydrates, and ultra-processed food. Doing this can be very difficult in Malaysia. Many outside foods have high carbs and are loaded with saturated and trans fats. Avoid those sugar drinks like soda and bubble teas. Uncle haven't eaten those 3-in-1 coffee, soda and bubble teas for more than two years. Uncle recommend black coffee or just tea without sugar.
3) Eat less rice, like no more than a quarter of the plate. Filled it up with veggies and some meat.
4) Snack less, if at all, eat just veggies. Uncle here, eat raw carrots, celery, broccoli and cauliflower without dressing. Cut them and put them in the fridge. When hungry, just eat them.
5) Do an exercise you love 4-5 times per week. This can be running or weightlifting. But be careful if you have just started your exercise. It's better to start slow than regret.

How long can/do you store those cut vegetables before you finish eating them?

I make sure it is dry. It usually takes 2-5 days to finish.

play basketball regularly (3-4 times a week)

eat moderately, rarely snack, dislike sweet drinks but will drink a coke every once a while.

Early 50 yo male. BMI24
BP, blood sugar and cholesterol all good.

Nothing secret about achieving health..all common knowledge

Exercise regularly/consistently: i do strength and cardio both.

Eating in moderation, emphasis on proteins and vegies. minimize junk foods, sugary food and deep fried food.

Minimize stressful situations and doing "sinful" things

Getting enough sleep

Here comes a good answer:

Basics in life:
1. Think, speak, act morally. Set up strict moral standards and follow them strictly. So you are not afraid of death.
2. Avoid greed and anger. Learn only beneficial things.
3. Help others when you are healthy.

Practicals:
4. Intermittent fasting, no junk food
5. Moderately active lifestyle. Moderation matters.
6. Hang out with people with above 5 qualities.

Wish you would not live life in vain.

Regular exercise, Sleep early, reduce alcohol and cut cigarette, Reduce sugar, oil and Salt intake.

Drink more water and never skip meal.

1) I fast a lot in my 20s. I was lean and slightly underweight before COVID before I decided to put up some more muscles and fat. I'm normal in size now.
2) I haven't took milo / maggi for more than a decade. Before COVID, I didn't take coca-cola the same.
3) I rarely drink alcohol. Maybe once a year or twice.
4) I take long walks and yoga / calisthenics whenever possible. I used to run half-marathon / 21km and also various 10kms back in the days.
5) I drink a lot of Chinese tea to flush my bowels down. It's not the intake of tea but purely the refilling of water in that regard.
6) I never like fast food the same. Having that said, I haven't taken McDonalds' / KFC in more than a decade until COVID.
7) I try to stay away from toxic peeps and focus on myself. I'm overcoming an early trauma due to bullying years back. smile.gif
8) I meditate or reflect on my actions a lot.
