You think so? I asked a 5 stars airline similar question. They say, they can change flight for free but no free accommodation if have to stay overnight. So I guess this is airline industry standard practice.

Were you informed days ahead of the flight or within 24hrs of the flight? Sounds more like this is done for commercial reasons than operarional reasons.

Usually they offer other alternative flights operated by them or refund/credit as I've experienced before. Try the chatbot as suggested to pick your options.

You’re entitled to pick another flight time if they cancelled or retimed you more than 2 hours.

Flight delay
First 3 hours RM200 per person
Every Subsequent 6 hours RM200 per person

I managed to get near RM4000 (family) for 23 hours delay.

You have just confirm you are just a kampung boy. You think AA is the ONLY Low Cost airline in this world? Really?

Now, if you have gotten out of your kampung, you would have realize there are many other Low Cost airline out there in the world and they are both equally bad/good.

Just before boarding. Need repair for a few hours, but deferred again. Then AirAsia X flew in another A330 to send us back to Malaysia.
AirAsia X provided overnight accomodation at a nearby hotel, and food vouchers. Also got RM200 flight voucher to be used within 24 months.

Can claim nothing from credit card insurance (must have receipts for expenses). Luckily I bought a travel insurance from Tune, cost RM70 only for a family.

That is not too bad considering it is merely a low cost airline.

Recently I made a query and a 5 Stars airline says, if the incoming flight is delayed and connecting flight delayed, they will not give you accommodation if the replacement flight is next day. Probably because the connecting flight is their code share partner.
