If you are not doing latency sensitive stuff, it is ok.[WTA] Wifi adapter, to seek information related to to wifi

QUOTE(armmar @ Jul 30 2024, 08:46 AM) Hi LYN, Forget about USB adapters, they tend to run hot and somewhat unreliable (I used to have a TP-Link T9UH) Looking for a new wifi adapter.. a lot of types wifi adapters in the market.. plan to pick the most budgeted and most satisfying one.. Just survey online... can get below RM30... for 1200Mbps 4 Antenna USB 3.0 it is trusted to use at home for my 800mbps unifi? or go to a trusted brand such as TP-Link and so on. Thank you If you have a desktop or laptops with swappable WiFi cards you're much better off getting something like an Intel AX210 based PCIe card instead This post has been edited by chocobo7779: Aug 11 2024, 11:35 AM |

Basically, how far your computer away from the router? If you're lucky, you getting WiFi router and you need atleast a WiFi adapter that support 5Ghz and you be able to get your normal internet speed test running about 700 Mbps. But if you prefer to use it for gaming, you would need to expecting higher latency compare to cable unless you are using WiFi 6 router with WiFi 6 wireless adapter. And ofcoz PCIE-based WiFi 6 adapter is more consistent performance that USB type WiFi adapter.

It cannot be. The speed should be the same as the port downstairs. |

Which cheaper price wifi 6 pcie do you recommend ? Unifi 300mbps. Budget around Rm70-90. Need driver for backward compatibility windows 7. |

QUOTE(Maxieos @ Sep 3 2025, 09:48 PM) Having the same question ,borrow this thread Unfortunately there is no. Which cheaper price wifi 6 pcie do you recommend ? Unifi 300mbps. Budget around Rm70-90. Need driver for backward compatibility windows 7. You need at least AX1800 (1.2Gbps @ 5GHz) to get that speed and I don't see there is WiFi chip that supports AX that also supports Windows 7. Solutions: - If you existing router can support 4x4 AC 5GHz, you could hunt for old AC adapter with 4x4 capabilities. - Dump Windows 7. Get TP-Link TX20E with RM100. - Get a router that works as a Media Bridge and connect to your machine via network cable. Highest cost, but best speed + works with Windows 7. Pick your pill This post has been edited by kingkingyyk: Sep 4 2025, 08:42 AM |

AX200 alone is ~RM50 and the remaining cost goes to supporting parts, i.e. the antenna, PCB. AX200 is pretty much done for and AX210 is the later revision that adds 6GHz support & newer Bluetooth standard. The price is just slightly higher. AX210 can yield you 1Gbps+ speed provided you have a decent router. Using windows 10 Asking the same question , to get an AX1800 (1.2Gbps @ 5GHz) or above , cheapest is Get TP-Link TX20E RM100 ? For up to RM 99 I think can get AX200 / AX210 with set. Qualcomm is pricier iinm and mediatek is just crap.
