I'm on 15 pro max.. plan to handover it to my wife who is using iphone 11 pro max, which in turn to be handed over to my kid who is currently on iphone XR

Just camera alone it is a significant upgrade that is worthy to proceed.

Not quite the case for me, since I also just got onboarded to the Sony a7c and A7iv systems.

dang, i think way past time hahah (i think 3yrs is a good time to upgrade already, since that's how long a "cycle" lasts now)

you'd be getting a lot of features even when you jump to 15 pro max, so 16 pro max would bring even more benefits

if AI features is US only for the time being below slowly rolled out to other countries, then buy 16 also no point .... you pay but dun get full capabilities ... smtg to ponder

Given the current ‘power’ of the iPhones, to be frank, if one is really on budget, even 5 years upgrade cycle is also fine. Most of the ‘upgrade’ one can feel immediately is camera. Else, yes, 3 years is also a fair cycle for upgrade.

Planning to buy 16 pro max for my father as a surprise gift. Overkill for the following use case?

He is retired 60yo, currently using iPhone 11 which is showing signs of aging like poor mobile reception (E mode when outside). He likes taking photos when traveling but constantly need to delete photos due to limited 64gb storage space. No video games but spends many hours scrolling social media.

Unless miracle appear - special iPhone release, for example flip or fold phone, else skip. 😅

This is 5 years gaps, yes worth it.

iPhone 15 to 16 i will predict just minor update with little bit of extra hardware and features. small changes

17 might much worth. guessing from improving those Ai , fixing /features iOS 18 , camera , wifi 7.. likely to tackle what not good with 16.

I am very much looking forward with IP16 pro and AI. If I can tell it to do tasks it will be great. To me, AI photography is also important as there are just too much junk in my camera reel.

Besides, me and my wife (IP13 and IP13m) sure going to get at least 1 Iphone16. If they screw up it will be the 15 pro i guess.

Current phone Pixel 5. Any tips for new ios user? Ive been using Symbian - Android. Now 40+ years old. Hahahah

just use it, unless you are super power user with OCD die die need to change every single minute detail like font or sound or "transition" or must have certain widgets here or there, with customised launcher control, or jaga every 1% of battery drain per hour, a Max Iphone will last all day+next day, do everything. A non max iphone will last whole day.

Most importantly is backup your whatsapp and if necessary you may need to transfer the chats manually. By right nowadays whatsapp got feature to port over, but during my time in 2022 it was just released and didn't work well enough for my wife. I used a paid app to backup manually and transfer after setup in 2020 for my own Android to IOS.

Whatsapp can only be backed up by cloud on the IOS so I'd straight go for apple icloud RM5 per month for 50GB for whatsapp and other basic backups.

The rest you can figure it out as you get the phone.

Was on iphone since 3gs... generally skip one gen... last iphone is 13 pro. Supposed to ge5 15 pro, but read about production issues due to relocation etc.... there wasn't enough push factor to get the 15 pro max, so try android with oppo n3 flip for a different experience.... sadly.. didn't like android interface in the oppo.. although hw and camera is good... so I will go back to ios with 16pro max.... maybe just 16 pro for that more smaller footprint
