Hi just wondering if I plan to upgrade from kapcai 150cc to bigger one, which cc i should go first. Is it 250cc or higher? If I take 250 cc, no need to upgrade license. But if I go higher cc, need to upgrade license to B Full. Im thinking of going to below 500 cc. 500 cc above I scared. To powerful later I cannot control.

I went from kapcai to z250 to z900

If ur too scared of the power..get a 250.

Below 500cc is fine too but still have to upgrade to b full. Iinm they abolished b1.

get L b full license, then find second hand z650 or cfmoto 700 clx, both used price are lower than a new z250

if you think 650 cc is too much for you then can try used dominar 400

you are already used to clutch moto with rs150 so getting 250cc big bike is kinda pointless

Think you may want to specify your usage pattern and budget.

You already know how to ride clutch bike, that is good already

1000cc also can, just need throttle control

shift early and not going for redline

me from 110cc to 650cc
2 weeks to learn the throttle and clutch control

Go bfull terus, later in life when busy, no time to upgrade.

I no experience riding bike, only driving. "Power" is not in my worry list as it is controlled by user throttle input. Im sure you do better.

Either go for cheap used bike, like dominar400 v1, or attend training class then decide. whats your budget?

Around 15k - 25k

Im thinking of getting Honda CB250R, but at the same time might considering other. Only that I afraid I cannot handle the power and struggle with the handling.

Motorcycle that on my list
1) Honda CB250R - Smaller CC, like the design
2) Dominar D400 - Cheapest, but touring motor
3) KTM 390 Duke - Aggresive Look, But Quite Expensive
4) Honda CB650R - Design that I like, but too powerful

For usage, this bike will be my daily ride to work and weekend bike. I still keeping my kapcai, maybe for going to pasar malam or going nearby.

I dont want too fast, but its suitable as daily ride. Can cilok bit during heavy jam. And can go ride on the weekend. Naked bike is my preference. Budget around 15k - 25k. Might go 30k as well. depends on what bike.

Considering Im from KL need to travel to Klang for my work. And sometimes need to going back to KL for meeting. Maybe around 50km distance.

You aimed for used or new bike?

can also look for ninja 650 or CFMoto 450SR
used Z650 can get under 20k

I'll suggest some naked bikes within your budget, imo z650/er6n should be your baseline bike

Kawasaki er6n - the bike you will find used in training for B full at driving schools (although some schools have start using z650). old and heavy but not hard to handle. easily can find one under 15k

Kawasaki z650 - can't go wrong with this one, lightweight and small size like a 250cc bike, engine has enough power for highway but not too much that it will scare you, cheap with the reliability of a japanese bike

CFmoto 700 clx - neo-retro design. you'll probably like it since you like cb650r design. the engine is based of kawasaki 650cc so its not bad and easy to use, some of our users in here reported some problem though.. also its front 18" wheel will probably make finding tires a bit troublesome

Suzuki gsr750 - awesome inline-4 naked bike, older model of the current gsx-s750. I had a gsx-s750 upgrade from z250 and I'll tell you the power is not hard to handle. its linear power delivery makes it easier to control.

Kawasaki z900 - another inline-4 naked bike, 950cc naked bike. probably wont need any other bike when you have this. this one is not really beginner friendly though but its easy to get used to. you can find used under 30k

Also try and sit on these bikes if you can and ask for test ride.

just buy the one you like, and learn to ride it, don't compromise
and of course, test ride first, but you'll definitely need a B-full

my opinion, don't waste time/money on a 250cc anymore if you travel that distance to work

learn emergency maneuvers, like evasion and defensive riding
bigger bike is less about controlling the power unless you open the throttle quickly, but more about reducing emergency scenarios

at least you sound sensible, not the type that thinks "i can handle anything thrown at me"

CB250R = gegar telur, I suggest you skip this one, you might find it weaker than the RS150R

I'm coming from 135lc (loan bike from my friend) to MT-07 without issue... Make sure you know how to control the throttle.

Just go with B full and get a Dominar. Later you can upgrade...and maybe keep the dominar for day to day commuting.

You can find used dominar V1 for around 5k -7k. Plenty of budget left over for repairs and b full. Any full sized bike won't click like a kapchai.

400cc isnts too scary. I went straight B full and the dominar

Unless you're doing long commute with a lot of highway travel, you're going to find it worse to ride a big bike to work. Big bike is difficult to handle in a jam and maintenance cost (likely fuel consumption too) is much higher. If your workplace parking isn't good, then you'll also have to worry about bikes getting scratched/tipped over in the parking, not to mention storage issues, unless you can stand having a box on a sportbike. These are actual problems I'm facing btw, and I'm exactly the opposite of your situation now, thinking about getting a kapchai for work.

However, if you're solely riding it on weekends, get a used Ninja 650 that's 2017 onwards (after ER6F), which can be had for anywhere from 18 - 22k. I will also advise against getting any naked bikes for weekend rides, because you'll likely do tours on highways and naked bike lacks the wind protection of fairing bikes, which makes riding at high speed a huge pain.

I came from nothing (Never ride motorcycle)... My experience was, I bought a 250cc(Honda CB250R)...
Then after a while, upgraded to bigger 660cc (Triumph Trident 660).

If you have the budget to play around, my suggestion is to go with 250cc first (a cheap second-hand bike).

During this time, you'll practice managing the clutch, balancing, cornering, maintaining the bike, and learning to handle it.

Why a cheap 250cc? because the expectation will be, you'll surely drop the bike multiple times. Hence, won't hurt your pocket and heart much. Also, from the savings, I suggest you spend more on your gear during this period (such as a full-face helmet, riding jacket, riding boots, gloves, etc...)

Once confident with the handling, you'll get the feeling of riding the 250 bike like riding a kapcai, easy to control, confident to corner. This is the sign that you are ready for a bigger CC. (My case, I up to 660cc).

Anyway, congrats and good luck with your new bike. :-)

Just sharing from my 2cents as beginner rider. :-)

Hopefully it is a clutch kapchai. If not get 1.
Ride it until you outgrown it and by then you will have figured it out.
