haha    same with me lor. I guess they know we will love them no matter what, so can misbehave a bit.
My grandma, who is puppysitting my 2 monsters during my working hours, always complained that they are so noisy and hyper when i am around but when i am away working, they just lay around the house and sleep quietly. Shushu will also follow grandma wherever she goes, very guai.

You dont love my Fala anymore because she's a labrador .
I miss Queenie lah . Bring her we go beef noodles , tie them against the post again .

Aiyo simchi, no lar - if he barks 24hours I also pengsan lar. 
He behave very differently at home - very gentle with my grandma, that's why we dare to leave my grandma alone with him for company.

Didn't mean to discourage you from getting a GR, just want to let you the facts first so you won't regret / have problems later.

all young dogs r curious, love to play n be busydogy around.... only until they reach their mature stage, they will no longer act as if they r d kampung kid coming to d big city, making a big fuss when they come across everything

to make ur dog to think twice n judge other dog's non-friendly behaviour, ur dog definately need to learn his lesson 1st... or else, he never know...

but as responsible owner's, we shld know when to protect our dogs, never let go d leash.....'prevention 1st'...

when approaching aggressive breeds/ non-friendly or even introducing any new dogs, owner shld hv total control.. put ur dog onleash n let them sniff out each other under supervision...

sry guys, been busy lately..

erm.. today night 7.00pm i was shocked again.. i found 2 spot goldie vomited again.. i quickly wash the vomit..i noticed there are some solid food like chicken meat, i was like wth..how come got things like chicken meat wan.. i dint give her solid food.. how come vomit those wan.. then i go ask the maid.. maid said she ran out from house in the afternoon once.. so i think she eat garbage..
hope she is okie.. she got appetite to eat her dinner.. i gave her after i cleaned the spot..

Hmmm, I think maybe when you bring goldie out for walk, be more observant of what she is doing so if she started puting stuff in her mouth, quickly take it out and scolded her. Just scare that someday, she might swallow something poisonous which might be fatal. 

Hmmm, today when I bring shushu to his vet for his annual injection, the vet told me something quite sad.
He said yesterday a GR died. The GR ran out of his house and someone just hit it on its head so bad until the head has a hole and was bleeding nonstop. The poor GR couldn't even stand up anymore by the time the owner found him - he was crawling on the floor. The owner rushed the GR to the vet but it was already too late.       

The vet was very sad when he saw shushu today coz the GR look almost like shushu. He said it was a very happy and friendly dog and how could someone be so brutal  and hurt the poor harmless thing. It happen just in a day - and the owner just lost his beloved dog without even knowing who is the culprit. 

I hope everyone try their best to keep their retrievers safe and secure in their house. I know sometimes our furkids are adventurous rascals, but once they are outside on their own, you will never know if they meet somebody as sick as that. Even though they are big size and look  , they are super friendly and wouldn't be able to protect themself.

Do you guys think is it better to buy a female or a male ?
If I buy a golden, I'll be keeping it in my house.
So I don't want it to be too naughty or else everything will be gone.

Hmmm, I would say my shushu is very smart dog, but at the same time he is has a mind of his own and can be quite stubborn.
This observation is made comparing with my previous dogs (spitz, mongrel).
Shushu learns his trick very fast and when you play with him, he can be very devious (try lots of method to steal his treats away).Though he learn his trick fast, whether he will listen to your command later (especially training time) is another problem.  I think probably your GR is not stupid but just stuborn. The trick is to find what object that motivate them most and use it  - then you will see another side of your GRs. Good Luck!

Recently, shushu ran out and got bitten quite badly by a stray dog. His left ears is torn and one of the main blood vessel was broken.
The vet has to give him anesthetic before stitching his ear back as he would not calm down.
Here are some pictures taken at the vet: (warning: blood)


His ear is now stitched up and the bleeding has stop. I will be taking him to the vet today for checkup on the wound (ensure no infection/inflamation) and the stitches will only be taken out about 10 more days later. This really spoil my mood for cny now

Hi everyone.

Recently shushu's right hind leg is a bit "bengkok" when he walks so I might be bringing him to the vet for a checkup soon. 
I will probably get him x-ray for HD too. I know the vet told me once before (when shushu is small) that he may have mild HD problem and I think the x-ray will probably confirm better whether he has HD and /or how mild/serious the problem is currently.

I am also doing some reading about hip dysplasia (HD) to get myself prepared. Since this disease tend to affect a lot of GR and labradors, perhaps we can share some experience or tips on how to reduce/prevent HD.

Here is what I got so far:
I also noted that some article mentioned about diet and supplement, such as not to feed high protein and high calories food or calcium supplement to the growing puppies, as rapid growth during puppy stage will increase the chances of HD. Not too sure about this info.  
Any other tips/info to share?

Yes, reduced weight /light dog food is better. 
I noticed that a lot of dog foods packet also contains glucosamine and chondroitin but not sure what is the dosage inside.
It may not be enough probably, so we may still need to add them as supplements.

Yes, I did gave shushu the supplement last time when he was small for a few months. The vet advise us to stop for about 2 weeks before continuing. Subsequently, the vet said that he is more ok and we can stop the supplement. However, recently I noticed his is favouring one leg and i am thinking to put him on supplements again. Can I ask what brand of supplements you are giving to your GR? I did ask my vet and he recommend me to get human glucosamine hydrochloride one, but so far those i found in pharmacist are of glucosamine sulfide only.

That's his favourite pose.    I do notice the difference with kero - kero when he lay down, he will rest one side of his backside on the floor and 2 hind legs together on the other side.
Luckily my house flooring is tiles and not the very smooth one. It might get slippery if it is wet. I did to put a large carpet on the floor once, then shushu destroyed my carpet after a few months.

hmm.. my aunt have a dog like shi zhu.. he loves to do that post.. we call him 4 leg pa pa.. in chinese.. he seem understand and start making angry face.. need ppl to pujuk him back to not angry wan...

been searching a while for the golden n labrador retriever for a while.. lotz of ppl tell me that it's champion breed, champion's daughter breed, etc etc... how real r those story? n some even told me that it's australia champion..

btw.. there is a guy selling his female golden retriever for rm900.. claimed that it's a champion too...  it's 3.5 months old... dono how true is the champion thingy...
