the answer was simple ego.
moon landing was an ego project.
after many missions there, there have been nothing of value to modern day humans.
thus more moon landings and establishing a moon base is not economically viable.
however as an ego project cost wouldn't matter coz murica sked lussiah go there first then maruah t'chala.
if china say they going to the moon with a timeframe within this decade murica will do whatever it takes to be there first again.

If chips, pong, cars, and rockets can grow in tech over a span of 10 years, it would be so easy to just jump across yo the moon now after 60yrs lol.

A lot of people who don't believe in moon landing today don't understand what is cold war. If US faked the moon landing, they would have been made the laughing stock of the world. People forgot that Soviet was also in space power at that time and can detect the moon missions.

Going to the moon is not just going to space. After the Apollo missions ended in early 1970s, NASA resources went into the Space Shuttle program. The priority was developing a reusable vehicle for putting satellites in space. Nothing made was going far like the moon anymore for nearly 50 years.

US space program actually declined after the Apollo program. Everyone knows what happened to Space Shuttles and they have not properly replaced them. NASA's budget was cut for decades and they are only sending probes today. You can see their problems today with the stranded astronaut on ISS. US space program is now relying on private sectors like Space X instead on government.

If they want to restart their moon program, they will need to reinvest a lot again and basically start from scratch with today's tech

A lot of people already given reasons but a lot of people today due to internet prefer to believe conspiracy theories and they think going to the moon today is just build back the same thing like the Apollo program but they forgot that the tech today are totally different from the tech in the past

you have to accept that technology gets replace and die and its happening on a daily basis.

take floppy disk for example. your grandson will say it did not exist and i can tel you even now you will find it hard to find a company to fabricate the ic, the tooling, cables to make one, let alone someone to write the code for it.

or window 95, it is being replace because there are better ways of writing codes and it makes no sense to go back to it. some might argue, i have a bug now in 95, since msft won't debug it for me w95 must be a fake and comes from alien. its simply because msf does not have the knowledge anymore or people who knows it line by line is already dead.

it makes no economic sense to revive old technology. and back to the moon, there is nothing in the moon to exploit.

my company is using a very old sap platform. need to migrate to a newer one in 2 years. why? because the old people all retired and new hire won't know how the old platform works. and no, they will not invest in old platform anymore.

so if you want us to land on moon again spent billions for nothing just to proof to the skeptical few...hmmmm fat chance
