3d software is just a tool, different artist might be used different software, but personally I suggesting 3Ds Max + Vray combo! thumbup.gif

Agreed - vray is probably the best plugin for lighting for now. All the GI goodness in less time....

The image is just superb. Probably you could cut down on the camera correction a bit. Some of the elements looked stretched in terms of it's perspective .i.e : distorted round elements like your carpet and lighting looks lop sided.

I am thinking that this is a living room, so some natural daylight in the space would make it look better. Try to decrease glossiness factor on your reflective materials ( like that polished bronze light fitting ) so that you could hide the room reflection a bit. It would help to hide the rest of your actual room.

The wood texture on the sofa nearest to you could be further repaired with proper UV Map. Wood grains usually follow the length of the wood. Some depth of field would also boost up the items that you are trying to focus on.

Overall - one of the best i saw so far in the thread.

Are you from ID? or computer graphics background?

i dont do 3d but my staff do.
we are lighting designers so, an actual representation is important.
if the client ask us why the lighting is not like that in the pict then we're as good as if we shot ourselves in the head....

there are some ies files available from lighting manufacturers that give an actual lighting scenario for 3d max...

by the way, great stuff i see here!

Hi there, its been a while.. Just want to share something. I recently downloaded the evaluation version of 3ds Max and start using it. I am a Rhino user for years but 3ds max approach into modeling is something very new to me and WOW!!!.. Its a superb software. Everybody knew it long ago but i recently getting interest to learn it since i watched "pantural" videos on youtube. So i learned modeling with max on youtube and many other forums and started to get a result fast. So I started with cehvy CRUZE and here are some of my 2nd day progress. Some of my amateur advice for those who want to start is, dont try, just do your best and you'll see a potential result!!! icon_idea.gif

By the way, any suggestion in making the tail light because i cant figure out the poly line arrangement yet.

Hi there, just want some some opinion, Currently, my gpu is Ati HD 4870 512mb and ive been thinking of changing it into a workstation. What i have in mind currently were quadro fx1700, fx 580, fx, and fx 3450.. Are these model can play games better than my Ati? and does it brings a lot differences if i use these model in rendering n 3d work compared to ati gaming hd 4870...

Thanks

Don't bother yourself with the pro stuff. Just get a good pc with a lot of ram plus a geforce or radeon. Workstation is great but the price don't do justice.

Owning a workstation is just like having a bragging rights IMO.
