QUOTE(aaeem @ Jun 2 2005, 06:50 PM) hi guys...just an idea to get things going on and exciting...how about we make a weekly 3d modelling challange...maybe modelling based on a theme?...this can be very inspiring and help anyone improve their skill, share ideas/design/techniques, build their portfolio and stuff...by modelling a common theme, it's easier to give feedback and c&c since we're working on similar thing...so how about it? love to hear what you guys think... MENTAL RAY IN 3 EASY STEPS!
Step 1 : ![]() Set up your scene and lighting (since you are using GI, one light is usually more than enough Step 2 : ![]() CHANGE your renderer to Mental Ray Step 3 : ![]() Play around! Each computer can take different settings. If I render 10K rays in my computer, definitely it will look good. But it takes 12 days to render 1 pic, forget it So, I set to 100 rays Rule of the day : Always play around with the settings until you find your favourite |

QUOTE(Cyprid Dark @ Jul 4 2005, 11:41 PM) Chewxy,I didnt find the mental ray in my render setting. Is the render ray was the plug-in product for rendering? Oops... I forgot. Mental Ray comes in Max 6 onwardsQUOTE(Tereno @ Jul 5 2005, 12:04 AM) Wow..Some very nice pieces of work guys. For all ofyou that are self-taught, do you have any tips for a beginner like me? Could you recommend me some books or some websites. Personally I thought of going for a course but I feel that it isn't so worth the money. WOuld much rather buy a book instead. And also I don't really have much time so I'm going to be doing this during my spare time. I'd like to learn about Website designing as well as mainly graphic design and this and that. Hope you guys can advise me well. Advice : Don't self teach. Self teaching is useless. Because to teach yourself, you need to be proficient at it.Self learn. Tips for self learners : PLAY! Treat is as a game. You'll excel in it |
