The designer of this dual-mode CVT somehow keep the gearbox simulate like auto having "gear change" while in D mode, I personally don't like it. And in low speed sometimes the car jerk when the leg leave the gas pedal. In slow climbing road and step harder can feel the car vibrate a bit, but I feel the same on the Nissan Serena which my brother own.

My family own a new Alza which using the same engine and gearbox like the new Vios. New Alza ride and handling is quite impressive and I believe Vios gonna perform better since it has lower center of gravity. My own ride is a VW model with MQB platform.

Just my 2 cents, I went and checked out the Vios. For me, 180cm and family members around 176 - 182cm height, the rear passenger seat space disappoints me. Just sitting properly upright, my head is already touching or more accurately hitting the headliner. Which is sad, cause I liked the vios

Want sporty looks sure got disadvantage, same as the Camry during ACV30 the big butt version the rear passenger head room really is good, but ACV40 onwards want to make it look sportier sacrifice the rear head room also... doh.gif

Having own 2010 City, 2018 Civic FC, 2022 City Hatchback and also a 2023 VIOS G, here are my feedback:

The price tag of 90k after 5k discount for G spec makes it a complete car to drive on the day you collect it from the dealer. It comes with decent 17" with conti premium C tyres which are better than the Toyo on the City. Windows are tinted, though not the best, still useable. Interior lightings are all in white LED instead of yellow bulbs found in the city. Plus you get a full digital meter cluster, 360 camera, and more importantly, a sharper, larger touch screen display with clearer reverse camera too. The city has a very terrible lane watch and reverse camera!

The boxy shape can be subjective but it kind of grew on me over time. Wind noise is noisy compared to the 2 citys I have in the family. Suspension feels softer on the Vios but the seats feels less supportive compared to the Hondas. Rear legroom is where the CITY excels as it has even longer legroom compared to the Civic FC!

Latest VIOS improves on the driving experience when compared to last gen VIOS and the Yaris. Steering feels sportier and you get more road feedback to the steering. However, both the engine and DCVT delivers power in a choppy manner; While the CITY provides a much linear and better acceleration.

In the end, it all boils down to what you prefer. Test drive both cars and see which feels better in your hand smile.gif

Tire noise? I used to have City 2008. The tire noise is unbearable loud. The sound is deafening.

Yeah, looks good but didn't expect the sacrifice so be drastic. Serious tak friendly for taller passengers, imagine have to slouch for most of the ride.

For the same money probably can opt for the Veloz --- same engine, same platform, same instrument panel, same features....... better still, get an Alza.

The 2008 city comes in GY eagle NCT which is very noisy!

All B segment lacks noise insulation, even C seg has very minimal noise insulation now days.

Quick solution would be to change to comfort tyre such as Primacy or UC7, the more exp solution is to do the noise insulation outside...

I replaced the original tires on the same day I collected my car. Changed multiple brands, but none is helping.
