Change your lifestyle and diet first. Medication should be the last resort. It's convenient and easy but it's lifelong and it may have side effects on liver function. Please go and consult your doctor. This post has been edited by sinbad2k: Jul 26 2024, 06:31 PM Jebat_bodyworks liked this post

QUOTE(codercoder @ May 4 2024, 03:13 PM) Your bloodwork nothing to worry about.Never take cholesterol medication, it will ruin your organs. Your triglycerides is more important than LDL and you have very good reading. Go and do your research, and don't be dupe by big pharma. Also Doctors have 2 different trains of thoughts regarding ldl. |

If it is so bad, why doctors still prescribe it?Never take cholesterol medication, it will ruin your organs. Your triglycerides is more important than LDL and you have very good reading. Heard in one interview in radio, doctor say not eating cholesterol meds is the leading cause of organs damage. |

QUOTE(Jasonist @ Nov 12 2024, 04:51 PM) what is the function of the medication? cholestrol in arteries, after medication, what happens and where will cholestrol go? when you understand how you can teach your body to eliminate cholestrol then why pay for medication? https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5483535 |

Talk to your doctor.
Statin to reduce cholesterol may be the best option. |

One factor is losing weight; and eating less saturated fat.
Like what other posters said; you can eat less refined carbohydrates. |

QUOTE(rayeonlee @ Dec 19 2024, 12:24 AM) Sometimes those having high cholesterol may already have an ideal BMI. As for saturated fat, agreed but do also increase your good cholesterol intake The BMI range should be Asian BMI. +1 on the refined carbs as for medication, it is highly recommended to seek professional advice, with online advice being a supplement to your inquiries bro cheers https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/artic...140673603152683 Another thing, the BMI is the population normal distribution and may not necessarily apply to an individual case. One can be at the higher end of the "ideal BMI" and still have health issues. I am a big fan of the personal fat hypothesis by Prof Roy Taylor. Though his work applies to T2 diabetes, it can be applied here. Anyway, the best advice is to work with a medical doctor as a team to manage OP's cholesterol. There may be family history and medication may be necessary. Regardless, it is best also to have a healthy lifestyle, eat lots of vegies and fruits, reduce refined carbs and saturated fat. And exercise almost everyday. This post has been edited by ChessRook: Dec 19 2024, 10:23 AM rayeonlee liked this post

QUOTE(codercoder @ May 4 2024, 03:13 PM) I have a similar jump in cholesterol in a year. Difficult to explain why jumped, I was shocked. Maybe too much red meat or weight gain or both.I am now on statins but they cause side effects... Insomnia and muscle pain. They are also expensive and eat up your insurance. Will stay on them for a couple of months. Needs to have another blood test in a month then talk to the doc about coming off them. Lose some weight by reducing carbs. Clean up your diet and life a little. 6+ in cholesterol is not good long term your arteries will be clogged and all kinds of risks then. |

QUOTE(codercoder @ May 4 2024, 03:13 PM) What kind of medication? What is your objective? I wouldn't worry about cholesterol, it's the triglycerides that you should watch out for, and yours don't look that bad.QUOTE(SupermanLick @ Jul 26 2024, 06:24 PM) Cholesterol is like contaminant. Old unker filter dirty already. Dialysis will helps to reducing LDL,HDL,none LDL,body odor, 4 times/month is necessary Your body makes 70-80% of the LDL/HDL in your body. So does that mean your body is making contaminants?QUOTE(ChessRook @ Dec 13 2024, 12:06 PM) What's wrong with eating saturated fat? What kind of fat should one eat then?QUOTE(rayeonlee @ Dec 19 2024, 12:24 AM) What is "good cholesterol"? Cholesterol is cholesterol. There's no good or bad. LDL and HDL are NOT cholesterol, they're cholesterol transports because your blood is water, and cholesterol is lipid. If you've been eating any level of wet food, you'll discover that oil don't mix very well with water, and that's why your body makes HDL, LDL, vLDL.So... the question is, do people know what is the function of cholesterol in the body? Do people even know how the atherosclerosis forms? |
