Come on guys..if the rule is pre existent and not an afterthought retrospective law, then it is only fair for everyone to respect the law. You don’t have to agree or be happy about it but respect for the rule of law is the way of a civilised society.

More so for us Nons… this has nothing to do with us, so we would be wise to remain interested observers and not make inflammatory comments that may come back to haunt us

Please don’t make a fool of yourself and for a moment think that a law stating how the holy book of a religion should be handled can be compared to slavery.

No right or wrong answer but there was no element of disrespect so bit strange for the book binder and printer. Means next time they have to go through even word for word for the millions of pages their print is not feasible.

This extremism is really far fetched.

Yes, that may be the case, but guess what, that’s a decision that they’ll have to sort out for themselves.

We should, IMVHO, neither batu api the situation or comment sarcastically because it’s really an internal matter.

Race, religion and royalty… it’s a fact of life in Malaysia.

I don’t like it, but my personal feelings are irrelevant. It’s a fact of life in Malaysia

There are many stupid laws in this world, not every law deserve to be "respected"

This is rather ridiculous.

Binding books also can be guilty. Might as well paper glue ink must be halal sourced, the transportation must be only Muslim & basically all must be no nons involved.

In the end need more people to make sure is non-free produce.

Nons beware.

You missed the previous round? The news was some non rich Dato give out mini quran, it became a big hoo hah.

The conclusion was purely arabic quran = you non jangan sentuh. Even muslim must clean themselves before touching the holy book so nons, you can't handle or touch the book.

Better avoid lah if non. So susah hidup and many rules unwritten unspoken.

Can understand your intention for harmony, but reality is shit will still splash to nons no matter what, because fundamentally there’s something wrong with certain party. Just look back at socks issue and some ppl try to flame on a prayer mat sold.

The problem is not with nons being provocative, it’s a one way respect with certain party, which doesn’t work no matter how generous other parties try to accommodate certain party’s self centred mentality.

I hear you loud and clear.

But will crying father and crying mother here do anything other than make the complainant look impotent and incompetent? If one truly feels so strongly about the unfairness, then one can try to change it by joining political parties and affecting change lawfully.

However, as has been clearly demonstrated so far, 天下乌鸦一般黑 aka pot = kettle and all political parties are only in it for themselves, certainly not for the benefit of the country, and God forbid the people who voted them in.

So what is one to do then? Take to the streets? That’s illegal and the clamp down will be severe.

If you can’t change the situation, and you’re not willing to go to jail for it, then the only thing you can do is to change yourself. That means either you learn to roll with the punches, or you go elsewhere where you think the system better suits you.

Because the law of the land is not going to change for you and passing snide remarks, sarcastic comments or complaining about it is not gonna make an iota of difference. It just makes you look like a beta.

Not sure what the fuss is about. It's the printing company that was fined not the innocent binder company so I think it's the right course of action (according to existing law) since the onus is on the printing company to know the law.

I hope justice prevails for the innocent manager and he's just let go with a warning. Anything more and I'll get angry for real 😤

Quran binding by non-Muslims: printing company manager fined RM8,000
QUOTE
PETALING JAYA – A manager of a printing company was fined RM8,000 by the magistrates’ court here today after being found guilty of hiring a non-Muslim company to bind 3,800 copies of the Quran. Meanwhile, manager of Hua Mei Industry, which was hired to bind 3,800 copies of the sacred text, was charged with the same offence.

Magistrate Farah criticised the accused for failing to conduct his due diligence before assigning duties to a non-Muslim.
Hatim, the manager of Tihani Cetak Sdn Bhd, was previously accused of allowing the binding of approximately 3,800 copies of the Quran at Hua Mei Industry Sdn Bhd, a factory located in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

Additionally, Sum Yew Hom, 41, the manager of Hua Mei Industry Sdn Bhd, was charged for aiding in the printing of religious texts without a licence from the Quran Printing Control and Licensing Board.
Sum was charged under Section 5(1) of the Printing of Quranic Texts Act 1986 and may face the same punishment – a fine amounting to RM8,000 and a prison sentence of five months.

Hatim said that his company hired Hua Mei Industry Sdn Bhd because it has up-to-date equipment to bind the Quran, and many of the company’s employees are Muslims. “We overlooked this. It is a mistake. We apologise for the mistake and promise not to repeat it,” he pleaded.
Sum, on the other hand, appealed for a minimum fine on the grounds that she did not know that the binding of the Quran by a non-Muslim was an offence.
“I was only hired to bind the Quran. I didn’t know it was a mistake. It’s my first mistake, and I ask that the sentence be reduced,” she said.

That's true. The Buddhist only care for the content, not the 'container'. As long as the teaching content is right, anyone is free to bound the books.

Am one of them because it gives me more interest.

If conventional gives higher interest then conventional it is, if Islamic gives higher interest then Islamic it is. No need to get emotional on it. It's just facts lol
