All the best TS how are your symptoms now?

Did you consider meal prepping or catering food specifically suitable for your diet requirements?

I have a relative with similar symptoms and the dietary restrictions seems quite challenging so maybe preparing your own meals or getting someone else to prepare it specifically to your needs is the way to go (of course I realize this may not work for everyone)

During my endoscopy, pieces of my stomach / esophagus were taken for biopsy and the report revealed (i) occasional H. pylori seen and (ii) moderate chronic gastritis although these two (2) weren't spotted by the doctor performing the endoscopy back then.

I was put on KLACID HP for 2 weeks and just finished the entire course last Sunday, went to follow up yesterday and the doctor basically just asked how i felt over the course and i said i felt better (not sure whether it was due to the medicine or the strict diet that i have been adhering to) but i still sometimes feel the occasional mild burning sensation around the stomach region and so far very rarely any episodes of heartburn except when i eat insufficiently (i think and suspected).

I also get this menthol / minty feeling in my mouth usually after sometime i had a light meal but they tend to go away after i eat (not sure what is that all about).

I asked her whether my symptoms (heartburn etc.) were typical of H.pylori / Gastritits and she said yes so i'm now banking on that fact to move on.

I am scheduled for the urea breath test (UBT) on 27/05/2024 to determine whether the H.pylori has been completely eradicated or not but in the meantime, i think i will focus on healing my gastritis first - the doctor is still quite reluctant to confirm to me what caused my symptoms hmm.gif

... before she sent me on my way yesterday, she put me on a further 2 weeks of Dexilant (dexlansoprazole) 30mg to help manage my stomach acid before stopping all medicine/antacids.

I hope i will get better.

I was suspected to have GERD last Monday after visiting the ER doctor and will be referred to a Gastroenterology next Monday for confirmation.

It was all quite sudden, i started experiencing minor acid reflux symptoms about 2 weeks ago and it does not seem to go away. Went to a normal clinic and was diagnosed with "indigestion" and was given antacid and charcoal pill. On that night itself, the symptoms got worst so I went to the ER in Sunway Hospital and then the bad news came  sad.gif

Is anyone here suffering from GERD and for how long already? What steps are you taking to manage the symptoms so they do not interfere with normal lifestyle?

I have been doing some article reading regarding GERD and it appears to be a very grim condition in the sense that there is no permanent cure.

I have not been able to focus since I was told that I may have GERD.

Help =(

Believe it or not, if you're suffering from GERD, it is NOT because you have too much acid in your stomach.

Rather, you do not have enough acidity. The esophageal sphincter that prevents the reflux going up your throat, is triggered by lower ph in the stomach source.

Antacids will typically make the reflux worse as you progress over time. I used to have some minor heartburns which went away after I changed my diet and removed carbs and vegetable oils, i.e keto diet. You can try and see if it helps.

HOWEVER, I suggest you try it for at least 14-21 days to see a difference. Don't expect change over night because you didn't get GERD overnight either. Note the frequency of how often you get the reflux now, and again after you change the diet. If you see the reflux frequency reduce after 14-21 days, you can consider that it helped, and can choose to continue leaving carbs and vegetable oils out of your diet. If there is no change then it probably didn't help.

Hi,

Me too having GERD. First symptom was when I was on shopping with my wife and out of sudden, my palm sweats a lot , dizziness and almost fainted. Rush to the ER in KPJ and was told that my ecg was normal. Maybe panic attack or gastric. After that incident where I don’t have palpitations, I keep on burping. That time I doesn’t know GERD yet.

After few weeks, symptoms came back and I feel really suffer and dying . Went to Medivron and quickly have my heart tested. Went out gastric as told by Dr.

And I keep facing the same issue again and again. I decided to go to hospital for scope. After check specialist say everything’s okay which is more weird for me. Just fatty liver ask me to do some exercise.

Till today, I can’t lie straight on bed otherwise I’ll choke and feel unable to breathe along with heart palpitations. I wonder when can i recover from this to be honest

i'm GERD member since 2014. commonly Gerd package together with anxiety and panic attack. try to be calm and relax when the attack come.

1st thing 1st, do endoscopy, and then cardiologyst to make sure not heart related since the symptom almost the same.

gastric, fell bloated, stomach hard.. dizzy.. want to vomit.. me and my wife do have this similarity..

one of the cause by miss taking food on time - breakfast, lunch, or dinner. meaning must take at something to alas perut..

while travelling, or on a travel trip.. lagi bahaya.. always miss to take food on time. then gastic attack..

not a solution, but prevention, we spare this call Alucid pill / chew .. can buy straight in pharmacy rack. it a gastric relieve or helper.. take before meals.. such a relieve..

I can relate to how overwhelming it feels when you're hit with potential GERD symptoms. A couple of years ago, I started having what I thought was just occasional heartburn, but it got worse and turned out to be GERD. Keeping track of what I ate really helped me spot my triggers, like spicy foods and coffee, which I had to cut back on. I also found that propping myself up a bit while sleeping made a big difference. It's tough, but you can manage it with some adjustments.

I once stop eating anything that has flour in it (bread, biscuit, cookies etc) and spicy food. I had no symptoms at all. After like 2 months into this diet i started eating spicy food again and gets a reaction out of it.

Few weeks ago i ate bread and instantly felt like throwing up. Perhaps can give this a try by cutting out flour and spicy foods
