Even if it not a sabotage I fear there might be similar cases in the future due to sabotage due to the amount of negative backlash it caused with minimal effort .

For example, I open food store, I know where my competitor stays and what is his schedule, I know he goes to work at 6am and we enter his car at 6am it is dark.

So at 5am I sneak into his car, stick some offensive sticker behind his car. He didn't noticed the sticker because is dark and he don't expect there will be a sticker behind his car.

Then when he otw to office, people can clearly see the offensive word on his car, people begin to viral, then people demand my competitor to be arrested, then demand his shop to be boycotted.

Police arrested my competitor and even if he said he have no idea about the sticker, there is no CCTV or eyewitness proof that someone else put stickers to his car. End up my competitor is jailed for 3 years and his company bankrupt.

This is so dumb.. lucky I’m moving out of Malaysia this year.
Make plans guys, move out as soon as possible. This country is doomed.

I am doubtful it is sabotage. Even the socks manufacturer in China did not deny that they didn't manufacture the questionable socks.

More like honest mistake by the local distributor by buying bulk pre-designed socks from China. That why police only found just a few of them out of thousands.

Who designed those socks then? Very likely China socks manufacturers themselves. They just copy and use any symbols and designs, including religion ones, from internet and make the socks to let buyers to choose, without knowing it could be sensitive and offensive to others.

When this issue first surfaced, the first thing I thought of was the numerous filipino workers in the UAE who had been accused of defacing and/or disrespecting a holy book. And then I recall incidents in Pakistan where non-muslims were accused of the same, subjected to mob justice while homes and churches were burned and looted.

Whether such accusations had merit or not, I don't know. Well all we can do is wait and see what happens over here with this socks case.

Yeah right, the chances is there although it is slim someone someday would be able to pick it up, it is just the stars on the universe is so aligned on how this incident get worse and escalated to where it is today.

On the other hand coincidentally these 5 pairs just slipped through the eyes of those customs and staffs who performing the stock count for inbound/outbound, + staff who put it on the shelves. Yes there is also chances it slipped through all the eyes.

With all these coincidence combined Sabotage could be in the picture, it could also be just a pure mistakes and a bad day for KK mart too, but I won't totally rule out it being sabotaged as you know smuggling these 5 pairs anywhere during transit is also not difficult to do so.

In the end of the day, as a business owner don't you think it could happen to your business as well if you are the scapegoat next rounds who knows? All they needed is riding on the religion to screw you up.

I mean we are not idiot, of course we know its a sabo case. But don't need to mention or ask already lar. Just move on.

Mass production. Are you seriously going to spend the time and money making only 5 of these designs?

The conspiracy theory would have more merit if kk mart didnt confirm that it received these items from its vendor, and that the vendor saying that it is considering legal action against its suppliers.

Manufacturer wouldn't just make 5 pair of socks unless it is requested. I am doubtful that the local distributor foolish enough to request manufacturer to make just 5 pair of socks such design.

Go to China fashion wholesale markets, you would see thousands of thousands pre-designed fashion apparels for sale there.

Perhaps the local distributor just order bulk various pre-designed socks from the manufacturer, somehow few of them of such design were somehow mix inside in the entire order.

Talking about taqiya? Most malays have no idea what that is and by most i mean majority. And if they knew, in this context as provided by knumskul, the term isnt even applicable.
