Dunno if new guideline.

But precedent (for me) is back in late 90s when we had same situation, my travel to UK, car rental agency accepted the expired
photo drivers license with renewal slip.

The JPJ explicitly states the LMM renewal slip can only be used within Malaysia and is not valid overseas. If you intend on driving in a foreign country, you’ll need to visit a JPJ counter to request for a physical card and pay RM20 for it. Similarly, the e-LMM can’t be used in foreign countries, so it looks you’ll have to get the physical card as well.

You’ll need to provide proof and any supporting documents such as travel tickets, an offer letter, a passport or any other relevant documents relating your trip overseas. Certain countries require an international driving permit (IDP), which is another thing you’ll have to pay for.

Ya, that’s my understanding too, that’s y I’m wondering if they claimed that no more physical card, but still yet to update their guidelines which mentioned renewal slip with old card is not valid for driving oversea.

So, meaning they force us to apply international driving permit..

Physical card is no more. So, it's slip renew.

Post #82 by Lanchio linking PaulTan article dated 09/02/2024 claiming can get physical card if show travel doc and passport, but tshihmin in post #76 called JPJ on 20/06/2024 and was told no more physical card even if go JPJ branches.

I was thinking go there update photo at the same time as my license renewal, but in the end if line up like donkey and still no physical card, like no point go there also.

That post doesn't say getting it for travel purposes. Many news articles mention you can get if you can prove you need it for driving overseas but so far haven't seen anybody who've done this and verify it can be done.

Basically articles describe:
Physical card for travel purpose = can if follow SOP
Physical card just because = no

Anybody paid rm20 for the physical card ? Does it still looks like our old driving license ?

Saw the latest photo uploaded to JPJ PJ on google map.
Went to JPJ Selangor (Padang Jawa, Shah Alam) around 9.30am today (30/7/24) and gotten my physical card license.
Told the officer that I am travelling soon and need to drive overseas + license expiring.
The officer will ask if you brought the printed copy of your flight details.
No questions asked after showing printed copy which they will keep for their record.
Renewed for 10 years at RM270 (RM30 discount), no extra charge for getting physical copy (as shown in image "versi lama/old version (license card)"
The wait was not long, only about 30 minutes, shown in 2nd image is the queue number and wait time.

I recently renewed my driving license on the MyJPJ app choosing the option NOT digital only. After payment, the app is updated with the new details, but there's no mention of the physical renewal?
Do they post to me, or I have to go to JPJ?
