Now renew car license no more physical card?

I just now went to renew my car license in poslaju, they told me physical version is just a piece of paper and now have digital version, that I need to download app.

What sh!t is this.
Where can like that.

JOHOR BARU: The digital road tax and driving licences, introduced in last February, are here to stay, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

"The ministry will not be reviewing the implementation of the digital road tax and driving licences even though there are calls from some people to do so," he told a press conference.

"We have to be progressive. Many services are now digital," he said, adding the initiative was in line with the country's digitalisation policy.

"People can still print their digital road tax if necessary, including to comply with laws in neighbouring countries. It is not a problem."

Earlier, Loke launched the Asean Ports and Logistics Conference and Exhibition here.

Previously, some users called for the reinstatement of physical road tax and driving licences to comply with requirements to enter Thailand.

In August last year, two Malaysians were reportedly fined by Thai authorities after they were only able to produce their digital licences.

Loke said road users only needed to print their digital road tax and licences to enter another country.

"Digitalisation will continue. This doesn't mean the road tax and license cannot be printed, you can print it yourself.

"If you want to enter Thailand which requires a physical road tax and licence, just print it, it is not difficult." .

I don't get it. Why JPJ cannot issue or print a piece of paper naming it "Driving Licence"? Why must it be called a "Driving Licence Renewal Slip" which cannot be used abroad as a proper "Driving Licence"?

I meant that in changing the printing material from a plastic card to a thinner paper slip, it is also a Driving License if it has a photo and it is named Driving License, isn't it?

Why need to create the hassle for getting a proper Driving License? Needing to go to a main JPJ office and need to show airplane tickets to get one?

If the intention is for people to avoid the hassle every year and get the 10 years licence instead of renewing it every year, it would be better to issue a lifetime Driving License.

Looks like the digital versions of road tax and driver license is here to stay.

The problem is even with air ticket, they don’t give physical card license, keep telling me I can bring along the renewal slip + expired driving license if I drive overseas.

So, the only way now is to apply international driving permit if u want to drive overseas.

Our country sometimes too pannai for their own good.

We ask for digital OPTION, he go and remove physical card option. So many things they u-turn, but this one they don't want to u-turn. Now JPJ staff need to be our nanny, check whether we really go overseas or not? What's the point sign agreement with ASEAN to allow us to use our license in ASEAN, but then create all this inconvenience?

How does this make our life more convenient?

The usual problem with our politicians - they think they know wat is best.

It never occured to them tat wat is best is to listen to the rakyat plight as watever they do usually does not affect the politicians themselves.

The IG post abit weird. She said she paid RM 360 for 6 years license. Foreigner is double the rate?
