Ngl if comparing quality, both are good. As for colors, back then note 5/8 seems to be a little fake, overprocessed. Not sure bout current flagships.
Camera shutter speed is also one of the reason I switched back.
About 5years into my iPhone 11, the camera still works smoothly although gallery size is huge. >30k images.
And also, messages seems to be indexed as well on iPhone. Try searching back WhatsApp messages from 2015. Instantly goes back there. While android takes forever to load even just last year’s message. Maybe it’s optimized now… just speaking from my past experience.
Because you are storing the image on your internal storage, which is faster, not like an SD card, which is slower. My S23 Ultra with 24k Images, I can even drag the scroll slider "which iPhone doesn't have. LOL" and you will still see all the images with no loading time, and that includes videos, 200MP images and RAW images, which are bigger file sizes compared to a normal image.
As for SD cards, I missed those times. We can expand our phone storage without the need to fork out in advance or delete things when it's full. Also, many people will just get the cheapest option, e.g., Sandisk Ultra, which is rubbish, then complain it's Android slow... Try to get Extreme Series
