Hi all,

Today I have successfully switched from Maxis Postpaid 98 + Maxis Share Postpaid 48 to 2 x Hotlink Postpaid plans.

Here is a detailed step-by-step how you can do so:

1) Ensure that you are free from contract and the most recent bill is fully paid off.

2) Call Maxis at 123 (between 10am and 10pm ONLY) and tell them you want to switch from Maxis Postpaid to Hotlink Postpaid.

3) The CS agent will tell you this is not possible. They will give you two options - either switch to Hotlink Prepaid for 1 month, or port out to another network and then port in to Hotlink Postpaid.

4) Let the CS agent know that you would like to speak to the "Retention Team", as you are aware that Maxis Postpaid can be directly switched to Hotlink Postpaid.

4a) [Optional] If the CS agent is being funny, threaten gently to report to MCMC.

5) When speaking to the "Retention Team" agent, they will repeat that Maxis Postpaid to Hotlink Postpaid is not possible.

6) Repeat Step 4 that you are aware that Maxis Postpaid can be directly switched to Hotlink Postpaid

6a) [Optional] If the "Retention Team" agent is being funny, threaten gently to report to MCMC.

7) By this point, they will relent and tell you that they can only switch to Hotlink Postpaid 60 (without contract). You need to wait 1 month to downgrade to Hotlink Postpaid 40.

7a) [Optional - Untested] They might be able to go directly to Hotlink Postpaid 40 if you press / threaten further, but I chose to just accept the Hotlink Postpaid 60 first and then make a downgrade in a month's time.

8) Choose to agree. The change will be made within minutes. They will advise to restart your phone.

9) Enjoy your cheaper Maxis Postpaid plan!

I my case, now I'll be paying RM120 (vs RM146 before), and in a month's time I will go down to just RM80 per month for two lines at the same quality/network at the expense of lower data allocation, which is not an issue at all as I only use around 20GB of data a month.

UPDATE 21/2/2024: You do not need to wait 1 month to downgrade to another plan below Hotlink Postpaid 60. In my case, I called them after a few days and requested to downgrade to Hotlink Postpaid 40. Sadly in my case, that was the same day they discontinued the Hotlink Postpaid 40 plan, so I had to sign-up for the Hotlink Postpaid 45 plan.

So far, seamless. I would like to think the network stability and performance should be the same, no?

Same steps as what I outlined? In my case, I switched principal + supplementary line to Hotlink Postpaid.

You should be able to change just the supplementary line to Hotlink Postpaid using the same steps as outlined above. However, the principal line owner needs to make the call.

contestchris can this switch to Hotlink Postpaid be done in Maxis dealer branches instead of calling customer service?

Btw, can Hotlink Postpaid can do hotspot/any limitation on hotspot?

Not sure about walk-in, just call, so much easier!

No limitation on Hotspot, Hotlink Postpaid = Maxis Postpaid in every way (just with smaller data quota).

Can't. Maxis Dealer will ask you call 123 customer service to request for the switching.

I have the similar plan as you (109 + 49)
Previously I have Maxis Postpaid 109 and Hotlink Postpaid 40
I convert my hotlink one bcoz of how annoying switching to different apps for paying both bills so I decided to just combine both which is OK

With your guide, now I'm thinking to do same thing as you but I'll write down my pro's n con's

Pro's
1. Cheaper monthly commitment
2. Data usage not much as most of the time use office/home wifi

Con's
1. Have to wait 6mths to allow increase digital payment limit (for paying my digital services)
2. Have to rebuild your payment record for nicer offerings in the future

Questions
1. Does it show 2 accounts on a single app?
2. Does the plan already include 5G?

Reasons why I prefer my current plan
1. In the future, I can register my sisters under my principal line when they start working
2. Can claim nice phones/stuffs from Maxis
3. Pair with Maxis Fiber in the future for unlimited data for all of my sims

The plan might suitable for me, but not you, just my 2 cents only maa
Enlighten me if I state my PoV wrongly.

What about the Hotlink app? Does it show 1 bill per app/phone number or you see all the bills in your apps since you were previously the principal line?

I can log into the app using either number and it shows the same bill. It’s a combined bill of both numbers

just tried the method posted in this thread. it seems like now the process is they need to log a case and Retention Team will call back in 3 days. called CS few times and every time they say need to log a case and get call back from Retention Team.

seems like the process of forwarding the call to Retention Team doesnt work anymore.

Did you manage to switch?
Yes the process has been like that. After they log a case, Retention Team will call you in 3 days. That is where you bargain with them as stated in post #1. Same case if you want to switch to prepaid.

Termination team (instead of retention team) called me and offered me to maintain Maxis Postpaid with the main line at 59 (discount 10 from Maxis Postpaid 69 package) and supp line at 28 with the same data allocation as previous Maxis Postpaid 128 package. This offer is for 24 months but no contract.

So I guess after 24 months, will need to call in to change package again.

I did the same calling and request talk to retention team, but it was termination team that attend such request and offer rebate for existing plan changes.

My Current Plan Rm169 + rm48 x 3 shared lines
Total rm331 with tax (many years without contract after ip12 pm) 🤦🏻‍♂️

New Plan rm99 - rm10 rebate + 48 - rm20 rebate x 3
As per they quoted rm173 + tax (will see in new bill following months, let’s see)🤤

Principal Rm99 postpaid 100gb 4g + 100gb 5g
Share lines rm48 50gb 4g + 50gb 5g

I save newly rm150 in total which I felt so regretted only
Find out now😂

Tq for the infor that save my day! 😍

How do they come out with Rm173 after tax? If base on calculation, Rm173 is before tax.

Just helped my cousin to convert Maxis Postpaid 108 + Shareline 48 to one Hotlink Postpaid 45 and another port out to U Mobile U38 within a single day

Call 123, and request to switch the 2 lines to Hotlink Prepaid, they'll offer u RM59+RM28 Postpaid, u say u don't want, and proceed with the switch. Less than 3 minutes after the call hung up, the 2 lines will be in Prepaid and u have 7 days active period. The Maxis customer service insisted u are locked with Hotlink Prepaid for 1 month but this is surely not the case

Then proceed to Maxis center to upgrade one of the Hotlink Prepaid line to Hotlink Postpaid 45, the process was smooth, within 3 minutes, it is done.

Then for the other line u plan to port out, just use share-a-top from another Hotlink number to share RM1 (it costs RM1.50 from donor side). After that, go to yr preferred telco center, my case was U Mobile and submit the port out request. Everything was smooth

HIGHLIGHT: THE 1 MONTH HOTLINK PREPAID COOL OFF ACTUALLY DOES NOT EXIST. So once u getting on Hotlink Prepaid, u can IMMEDIATELY switch to Hotlink Postpaid or port out (for port out u need balance more than RM0.00)

Thanks for sharing.
According to a friend who always do MNP, it has been like this all the time. Can even port out to another telco once successful port in.

Depending on usage, I would say just go for Hotlink 45 or Hotlink 60.
If you mean bill autodebit, yes need to re-register again inside Hotlink app. For banking TAC no need to do anything.
