Hi. So I've reached out to TM regarding the below issue but couldn't come to a resolution. Hence the post here.

Last night my internet connection was suddenly lost. Lodged report, and technician came today to check.

Checked inside my house (landed 6 year old house), no issue with the fibre, then went out and they found that the fibre optic underground is broken.

Technician quoted me RM300 to repair and have the connection restored. I felt confused, isn't this TM's infra outside of my home so it is TM's own cost to maintain?

Technician didn't like that I disagreed and tried pressuring me to let him fix if not i'll have to look for other contractors and the charges may be higher.

I declined and he closed the report. Now I am still without my internet. Called TM again to complain and they said they will open a new report and send a technician over in 3 working days shakehead.gif and they will inform on the outcome after the new technicians' investigation.

Looks like the TM technician is trying to make some extra bucks.

Wait for the other TM technician and see what he have to say.

If issue not yet resolved ask for bill rebates from TM and lodge a report to MCMC too.

The RM300 pay to technician?
My TM technician told me they wont accept any payment directly, instead TM will put in your monthly bill. If directly then u know got some hanky panky.

My cousin applying relocation of his TM last December also almost kena charged. At first the contractor asked RM70 for the installation, padahal TM port located just at the front of his new house.
He repeated back what the TM customer service said to him that there's no extra charge for the first 50 meters of wiring to house. Next meter would cost RM2.50 and no other extra service charges.
Luckily the contractor said ok and set up the appointment next day installed everything FOC for him.

For case like this better just wait for different contractor and get their opinion about the damage.

the remaining question is..

how come underground cable can be faulty?
not like someone would run it over accidentally.

Other house installation caused it? They pull the cable here and there. Too rough?

I think all the sub contractor are doing this fking illegal thing

My in laws kena last year, new installation kema installation fee 150,the wiring into house was less than allowed length foc by TM

but as most ppl mention, if u complain to TM, they say bot their problem, outsource

Everyone need to complain to mcmc and tm socmed page
Then only things will viral & stop these

like other member has said

If technician take money from you, likely it is SONGLAP practice.
TM warned me before do not pay technician. They are paid contractor under TM. If got extra charges they will send to our bill.

Long story short,
- I live in condo n applied for unifi.
- Subcon techs came n charged me 340 bucks for cable n labor.
- Paid them later only found out from unifi website, new standard installations r free.
- Made report n the subcon tech called me. Insist the charges bcos my installation is non standard which is bs.
- Subcon tech say bring supervisor along to my condo to take video n measurements n all to submit report to justify charges.
- I say ok. They came n did the whole wayang.
- Waited few days no copy of report from supervisor.
- Made another report. Threatened to report to MCMC too.
- Subcon tech (not even the supervisor) called me again to settle. Offer to refund me n drop the case.
- I agreed n got my money back.

The messed up thing is, instead of TM settle the subcons techs for me, I have to settle the matter myself with them. This means, TM knows their subcons have been doing this shit n just close 1 eye only. If customer tak report, fine lor. If customer report, the subcons gotta sort their own shit out n dun menyusahkan TM. God knows how many ppl kena scam like this liao.

Ni contractor luar, last time happen to me but they don't know which part is broken, either outside or inside the house, so want to charge rm300 to change inside.

So i ask if don't know which one broken, later broken again pay again as my house since installed, almost 5-6 times already same issue.

Then he said, we change all from the pole to your house rm500 with better cable + cover. Then ok la proceed.

But later he said, if happen again just call him directly, can give better price since no tie with tm.

My connection had issues with the fiber for the first few months too (LOS light blinking on the device that the fiber goes into). From my understanding when asking the technicians, anything outside of the user's property is under TM responsibility to repair.

Good call on rejecting their offer to pay for repair.
