2 months ago my outside fiber line was snagged and broken by a tall lorry. TM fixed it for free.

Hi. So I've reached out to TM regarding the below issue but couldn't come to a resolution. Hence the post here.
Last night my internet connection was suddenly lost. Lodged report, and technician came today to check.

Checked inside my house (landed 6 year old house), no issue with the fibre, then went out and they found that the fibre optic underground is broken.

Technician quoted me RM300 to repair and have the connection restored. I felt confused, isn't this TM's infra outside of my home so it is TM's own cost to maintain?

Technician didn't like that I disagreed and tried pressuring me to let him fix if not i'll have to look for other contractors and the charges may be higher.

I declined and he closed the report. Now I am still without my internet. Called TM again to complain and they said they will open a new report and send a technician over in 3 working days  shakehead.gif  and they will inform on the outcome after the new technicians' investigation.

Is the contractor a Chinese middle age uncle call Kenny?
He was the one install for my house at Semenyih, same pulling cable underground outside my house. He asked for rm700 for my case.

I know hes trying to make a quick buck I paid up because I just want the Internet up as soon as possible. Before that already got few groups of contractor came, all told the same thing "You need to hire your own contractor to pull the cable" which contradict with what I read on TM website.

I really cannot tahan anymore. Im pretty sure beside taking my monies these croock also claim installation charge from TM, basically they take monies from both side.

Goodness, I didn’t want to mention the race of the guy but yes it was a middle aged Chinese man, my house is in semenyih as well. I do not know if his name is Kenny. But the description fits. Very unusual for there to be a Chinese unifi technician.

So fibre optic problems within the compound of house is covered by TM and we don't have to pay?

And if we pay, it should go into bill and not paid directly to contractor?

The RM300 pay to technician?
My TM technician told me they wont accept any payment directly, instead TM will put in your monthly bill. If directly then u know got some hanky panky.

Non standard installation is it?

TM will only give your 10M and they will repair them if got problem. However for those newly built area which is just a small parcel, if developer didnt pre-install those 10 cores, basically you have to pay to licensed tm contractor to pull those extra length. Yes, TM wont fix your cable if it is broken. My cousin always had his fibre optic bitten by mouse and keep paying few hundreds to sambung back.
