For comparison, Hotlink Postpaid is for mid range users, Maxis Postpaid for high end and Hotlink Prepaid for low end users. Just have to find one that suit the price range i.e. how much willing to spend for mobile services.

At that price you been paying i think can get 4GB (with 5G) and unlimited calls and sms with the lowest RM30 Hotlink Postpaid.

But Maxis been quiet since you been paying RM30 for 1GB and some call minutes.
*
I am paying RM 40 for 1 Gb and some call and SMS minutes so Hotlink Postpaid 30 sounds like better value.

Is the network coverage the same and can I roam when I am overseas?

Also, if I make the switch, can I keep my number?

Dude, Hotlink Postpaid = Maxis Postpaid. 100% the same. Well worth the switch.

Plus, you get free 5GB every month (need to redeem for free in the Hotlink app), and another additional free 5GB after 6 months (auto added to your monthly quota).

Roaming is possible but there are differences in term of roaming charges package available for both.

Yes you can keep number.

Best if you go to the center and ask them about it … different users have different usage patterns and needs.

Maxis better many terms as Digi and Maxis user only problem is Maxis still lacking indoor 4G coverage

Umobile as well, if they improve indoor coverage then it is a serious challenger to Celcomdigi.

Your plan is way too outdated in 2024. Change to Hotlink postpaid 30 or postpaid 40, depending on how much data you need.
You can read more on Hotlink Postpaid roaming from the below link.

I went to the Maxis Centre. International roaming is not available for Hotlink post paid packages below 60 ie. 30 and 45. The service attendant advised me that it means I am unable to purchase a separate roaming pass to add on. Nor can I latch on to a local service provider in the country I visit and pay as I go. I was quite surprised at this. This seems contrary to what I have read here and the Hotlink website does not indicate this. There is a possibility that the service attendant may be misinformed - that isn't surprising given the poor quality of Maxis service staff I have encountered.

Can anyone confirm that is indeed the case or not?

If it is, then that doesn't work for me.

My package as it is allows me to roam internationally so I guess even with the 1 Gb domestic data limitation, it probably is the best available package for my needs.

Gov only ensure principal line can have free 5G at same price or lower. You are expected to downgrade one plan to get cheaper price for primary with 5g. Gov celebrated this.

Those benefits and perks like cheaper sublines are not within scopes.
*
yeah, so? my principal line will be more expensive by RM20.
downgrade one plan? what you mean? thats the lowest they have and i still need to pay extra rm20.

u working for celcom digi issit?

The 109, 139, 169 all inclusive of the earlier RM11 5G price...I also wondered if they are going to revert...but doubt that.
*
I have complain Maxis on this until MCMC level. Why my plan 109 did not deduct the RM10 extra charged for 5G services.

Maxis customer care called me to clarify the matter.

1) Plan 109, 139, 169 was a totally new plan with built in 5G services in it + increase of datapool.
For new user/ port in user who want this to sign up a plan, this will be the plan.

2) Existing user with old plan, like me using plan 98, if i don't want to change plan and do not need the extra datapool but i want 5G service only, then i need to top up RM10.00 for 5G.
This is the RM10.00 YB Fahmi was talking about. Telco cannot charge Extra for 5G service.
i found out from another forum, some people who actually paid the RM10 monthly for this get their RM10 waived recently. so now he is paying for RM98 monthly and also get 5G.

So i have scolded them, your service advisor at the Maxis center have mislead me.
I was told add RM10.00 for 5G services, that is why the new plan 109 was there.
So he asked me to sign up this new plan.
now i cannot revert back to my old plan, and i am paying extra RM11 monthly and not you, what you gonna do?
finally they waived 1 month billing for me.

Thanks so much for that.

It sucks that the Maxis service staff themselves do not know what they are selling.

This is the chart he showed me to justify what he said. I asked again to confirm and he said emphatically that he had processed many of these plans and knew for sure and that if I didn't believe him, I could try when I go overseas and be stranded without being able to roam.

user posted image

Unfortunately, it looks like I cannot switch as Maxis now tells me the plan is only for new registration, port in or conversion from Hotlink Prepaid plan.

Has anyone gone from Maxis to a lower priced Hotlink Postpaid plan and kept their number before?

Last time i did mine :
1) Pay your maxis bill
2) Convert to any telco's prepaid line or even Hotlink Prepaid line
3) wait 24 hours later (not sure these days got this cool time or not) and visit Maxis again says wanna port into Hotlink Postpaid 30/40/45 - 40 probably no longer exist right now.

Hahaha, some service staff not really serve lower plan customer, instead trying to chase sales KPI. The solution for your case, ask to switch to Hotlink prepaid. After that you switch to Hotlink postpaid. I think switch to prepaid can also done via calling Maxis CS.
