Just purely within the Adidas family and short runs, go for the Adizero SL.
End of the year coming up, grab one for 30 - 50% off. Runs firm but gets softer over time. If you go into other brands, many to name. |

As usual, it’s gonna be asics. Top range nimbus and kayano. Mid range are cumulus and gt2k. Neutral and overpronate respectively

Except for my first ever pure running shoe which was an Asics I always have been an Adidas lifer. 20 plus years starting with the Response Cushion. But I always stick to the mid range for price reasons
I switched to a pureboost last year when it was on sale and realise I've been missing out alot. So this year afrer I wore out my pureboost wanted to go for the latest iteration or an UB or Boston but the reviews were pretty average So I decide to swap to Puma Nitro Deviate 2. Composite carbon plated. 40% off and i think I'm sold on Puma. Lightweight well cushioned and comfortable trainers Check out if got 12/12 deals. If ada give it a try. Really an all in one trainer. Comfortable for LSD lightweight with the bounce for speed work This post has been edited by 9m2w: Dec 9 2023, 10:09 AM |

cant go wrong with adidas/nike.
you need to experience yourself with different brands. ayam tried brooks, mizuno, adidas, nike, saucony, hoka bla bla bla. but ayam is saucony kinvara series fan. |

If you don't need arch support, I recommend Brooks Ghost. Rm200-plus during sales. It's the Toyota Corolla of running shoes. Very comfortable. Only downside imo is slightly poor wet traction.
I'm using Ghost 14, Asics gt2000, Kayano 29 for my 10km 8min/km jogs and I prefer Ghost. |

QUOTE(dupreehere @ Dec 9 2023, 09:54 AM) If you only plan to run 5km, any brand also, no need spend too much. But if you need to run 10km, 21, or 42, better go to try brooks, ASICS, or hooka, those specialise in long distance running. Need to check your foot arch to determine the type that suit you, if you feet are normal arch, then can wear brooks ghost series, can buy old model from online store not so expensive. If flat feet, then need to wear special shoes. Not recommend to buy Adidas or Nike for long distance running, as they only strong in design but weak in function and support (after 20km running, the shoes will be very critical to provide cushioning and support as yourbleg muscle is getting weaker, can avoid injury and share the burden of your weight) |

QUOTE(skyblu3 @ Dec 9 2023, 06:37 PM) You mean kayano ? Understanding any brands product line is damn complicated.Nimbus is for neutral . Overpronate you need support shoes such a kayano, there the rear outter sole is more firm to prevent your putter heel from pronating. Pronator go for kayano. There is a budget verson for pronators, gt2000 and even cheaper gt1000 |

QUOTE(soulseeker6187 @ Dec 9 2023, 07:27 PM) Do you know what makes a shoe specially designed for overpronate feet ?It's not only about the insole. Stability/support shoes is designed to prevent your ankle from rolling over when you run. The density and compound of the foam at the inner part of the heel is more firm, to prevent the ankle from pronating. Tomorrow you go to ASICS shop look.for kayano and press that foam area. It's much firmer there. kcchong2000 liked this post

Whoa, TS like a casual runner and you all dive so deep into the weeds. Anyhow if for TS profile going Asics, my pick would be the Novablast 3. - With Novablast 4 coming in, there will be a discount. - Great do it all shoe. leah235 liked this post

QUOTE(skyblu3 @ Dec 9 2023, 08:15 PM) Do you know what makes a shoe specially designed for overpronate feet ? mine neutral feet so dont need to worry. It's not only about the insole. |

QUOTE(soulseeker6187 @ Dec 9 2023, 06:57 PM) Dont downplay adidas and nike. I think you are overreacting. No need you to explain how famous are these two brands in world champions' sponsorship. Your explanation on their world record sound like you really thought people don't know you are born by your mum who is a woman.... These 2 brands holds multiple world record for marathon. Adidas and nike super shoes are great. They got so many models very confusing, but the top tier model is very good. Adizero pro and alphafly series are good. Back to the topic, TS only run 5km, so he can buy any brand he want including these two. But If he want build his mileage, then can try with those more affordable brand that are with good features also, why need to straightaway upgrade to top tier shoes? But maybe if you are rich and your value on item is how famous they are in Branding Value, then yes lo. TS now run 5km U recommend him alphafly, you ok or not |

YeahWant to splurge get nimbus, want to save can get lower ranger which are also very good in serving it's purpose like Gel excite or dynablast Beginner no need to get high end shoes Most important for a beginner is to buy the correct shoes. Then start running consistently first, and learn the correct running technik, breathing, correct running form, pacing, etc. When the person develop the commitment to run regularly then can think of getting good high end shoes. |

Used not to be able to run even 500m, now with proper supportive shoes and thick cushioning, I can do 3km easily. Everyone with pronation or flat feet, please buy the correct shoes. My fav used to be Adidas Ultraboost ST until they discontinued, now I go with Brooks with Guiderails and Puma with RunGuide + Nitro. skyblu3 liked this post
