Most have kapchai already and they said they enjoy the scooter due to ease of riding i.e. no need to think about changing gear. I'm planning to use for chill town ride since i have to travel between two states. The state where i stay i have car and bike. The current state i have to stay inbetween for few weeks no transportation yet so planning to get scooter.

Initially dont mind the additional cost for service since its not that much until like 15k milleage where i need to also change belting. Suddenly got new information about fuel consumption. But now should be clear already not that significant. Will go for scooter if the price is right.

Yeah. Initially it wasnt an issue until i got contradicting information especially its on the extreme end like full tank not even 100km and people agreeing with it. Wanna investigate further that why i started the topic.

scooter is really good for town or small city use, without highways and many stop go traffic

if full tank not even 100km, you'll have to wonder which scooter model and maintenance of the bike, to me, clearly, there is something wrong with the bike, or the tank is very small, like 3.2L but the owner considered 2.5L as full tank, and a lot of red light stops, even that is also around 40km/L (100km / 2.5L)

a more suitable reference for you would be, as I shared earlier, my 400cc scooter, 20~22km/L city ride
no other scooter (single cylinder) should be worse than this, otherwise something is wrong with the scooter

just to chip in,

my vario150 could get average 50-55km/L on city & town rides, with 4.5-5L tank refill every 200-220 km.
i did not ride fast and mostly travel at 80-90 km/h.

now that i use zontes 350e, i can get average 30km/L, with 10-12L refill at 350 km, mix city & highway rides 80-120 km/h

You see, sometimes bad fuel range is just plainly due to speed and throttle opening. The faster you go the more fuel you use.

For a small bike on bigger roads and highways 100kmh is basically maxing out the engine full throttle all the time. And coupled with a small tank, 100kms per tank isn't a surprise. I get half the mileage at full throttle than cruising at the speed limit.

Ultimately it's just how we ride. Malaysian riders ride much faster than our neighbours. It's not uncommon to see kapchais zooming past 100kmh all the time. Smaller bikes are never designed for higher speeds...they usually only meant to go 60 for city roads...that's what the brakes and tyres are designed for anyway.
