Would like to get some feedback especially from those who have both scooter and kapchai.

Is the fuel consumption really that different?

Example, comparing to the same class

4l on honda dash 125
4l on vario 125

Will the distance covered by the 4l be really huge like 50km? or just a difference of 10 - 15km?

Its fuel consumption.
If oil consumption there is something wrong with ur moto and needs overhaul.

If u ask me the fuel consumption for scooter or kapcai is not much unless u ride long distance on highway.

So basically at lower speed, fuel consumption should be the same.

At higher speed is where there's a significant difference.

That should be ~40km per litre

My lc can go 140km for 3l which equates to ~46km per litre

So not that big of a difference i guess.

Dash 125 fuel consumption as claimed by honda : 61 km/l

Vario 125 fuel consumption as claimed by honda: 51.7 km/l

I dunno how that translates into real world fuel consumption rate but my dash125 consistently got around 49 - 53 km/l of fuel consumption with my riding average speed of 70 - 95 kmh. Just want to share my input la..

correct. not much difference.
but bigger tank give you more mileage.

another example from me, suzuki belang 3.8L ~160km ≈ 42km/L
but belang, need to refuel twice per week while vario once per week (base on km ride).

Bike - compression ratio, tank size, published full tank distance:
Vario - 10.6, 5.5L, 284km
Dash - compression 9.3, 4.3L, 262km

Real world distance per tank will be a huge difference, I'll definitely take the Vario
- when the bike reach low fuel, the Vario used 4.7L while Dash used 3.5L
- that's 34% in tank size relative to Dash
- FC wise, Dash is 15% better
- effective distance to low fuel, Vario will go further than Dash

Maintenance wise, the CVT will need tender whenever something feels wrong, quickly need to check so the pulley system won't makan. Can take up to 500 to service, repair or replace

Just a quick mention, my 400cc scooter is 20~22km/L with 15L tank. It goes 250km to low fuel, consuming 10L. It consumes twice the amount of kapcai, but travels almost similar distance per tank...

Yeah. Advertisement always exaggerate. Like huawei watch claim 14 days but need to turn off all features.

Yeah. Am considering to add scooter to my inventory and have considered the additional service cost. However, after joining several scooter group and feedback from friends, apparently scooter consumed more fuel. So wanna triangulate this information to see how significant it is since i dont think i'll be interested if i have to consider both the additional cost for service and the additional cost of fuel (if significant).

Sym Cruisym 250cc, RM19.00 of petrol, 330km, fuel gauge light on, can still travel about 25-30km (tried that before). Michelin City Grip 2 tyre.

(during the stock tyre, Maxxis brand, mileage can only reach 290-300km when light on)

why are you considering a scooter in the first place? you should ask the groups and friends, if they will go back to kapcai or stay with scooter

TS, scooter bike is meant for ez riding(not fuel saving) becoz of automatic transmissions(CVT).

The frequency of CVT maintenance depends on riding habits too.

Abusive riding habits means frequent maintenance for CVT.
Clean up dusts & debris inside the crankcase, Belt checking & etc.

Want another automatic transmission beside CVT? Be Prepared to pay hefty amount of $$$ for DCT bike.

Yamaha Nouvo LC scoot. Dr Pulley weights 12g, Yamaha Indo belt. YSS rear shocks. Everything else standard 3 - 3.5 litre RON 95 per 100 km at between 60 - 80 km/h. Full tank is only 4.5 litre, so maximum about 160 km on a full tank till dry. Maintenance so far isn't that bad actually.

standard is how many gram?
you using the round pulley or slider type?

It really perplexes me why people are concerned about fuel consumption on a kapchai Vs a small scooter....you are probably not going to rack up monster mileage on a small bike anyway.

The difference isnt that significant. More of a concern is tank size and range.

Even for my Dominar, fuel consumption albeit a bit high isn't a real concern since I've been saving a few hundred in fuel bills per month switching to it from a car.

Considering a full fill up still cost less than a cup of starbux.

However, range remains a bug bear for me..considering I seldom get to ride 2 hours straight without having to stop for fill ups.

I also never imagined I'd buy a scooter and here I am a proud owner of a maxi scoot

my arsenal consists of that scooter, a few 2 strokes and another 4 stroke machine, and I can say, I've worked on improving fuel economy on the 2 strokes for many years, and reached to 40km/L at one time, I now keep them because they're highly repairable, and more fun that most bikes

Standard 11 gram. Dr Pulley is slider type. Cost about RM 80. Better top speed by about 5 km/h

my std 25g roller, put 26g slider, wish I had gone even heavier
