QUOTE(firdausbhari @ Feb 19 2024, 01:23 AM) i live in my own house and i also didn't want to hack walls. so I pulled the cable and shield with PVC trunking case neatly on top of my walls to each floor. icic. yeah... it is not an easy task to hack walls. i find the FTTR solution is not bad, they are using transparent cable so technically should not be so obvious...

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Feb 19 2024, 11:36 AM) ya if you're renting, just the mesh wifi is the most economical and just works. and when you move later, you can bring your mesh wifi with you. this is probably the most recommended. FTTR is really for people who want something a bit more reliable and honestly more for the networking enthusiast. There are definitely benefits for it, it's just you got to weight the costs. Most people rather save on money and just do wifi mesh over wifi backhaul and be done with it. less fuss and money required wifi7 is too expensive right now. Also isn't it not yet ratified either? So wifi 6e. Then you can use the channels less people use so you won't be as impacted due to wifi congestion in your place, especially like in condo. yeah. my wifi 5 linksys mesh works well at my area, it has the function to find the best channels to use for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz... so far so good, i can get good signal between the nodes and the latency is good as well. not even need to go for wifi 6/6E or even 7 if ur current plan is only 500Mbps and below. if 1Gbps and 2Gps plan, yes good to go for at least wifi 6 tri-band mesh for maximum speed.

QUOTE(YoungMan @ Feb 21 2024, 08:09 PM) Hahhaa, later they will just use the excuse Singapore is small and easy to implement. The nationwide broadband network currently runs in all homes, with more than 85 per cent on at least 1Gbps services. Difference between advanced and non-advanced countries.

QUOTE(Singh93 @ Feb 25 2024, 11:34 AM) rm219 vs regular price of rm249... and compare to time 1Gbps rm199, it is not too far away as well... but personally i won't subscribe to such high speed plan which i totally cannot utilise though... i prefer to keep my subscription to the lowest possible for $$ saving instead of paying extra for something i did not use. QUOTE(neekun @ Apr 13 2024, 06:05 PM) Perhaps you can try those power line network extension by TP Link, I used to use that last time with 800mbps Unifi speed at ground floor and about 2000mbps on upstairs with the power line. Dun recommend the trash anymore at this era, a good mesh wifi router can certainly do a better job as long as one can place the nodes at good positions between them And also double storey house usually uses 3-phase electricity, power line sucks for this even.

time broadband now starts at 200Mbps for minimum plan at rm99.. upload speed is also 200Mbps... super enough for majority of users.. this is then the best basic plan for anyone...

QUOTE(YoungMan @ Apr 21 2024, 11:09 AM) Meanwhile Unifi and all the providers under its infra can't even provide symmetrical speed. Ya. But too bad even time also does not provide upload speed that is more than 500Mbps.

QUOTE(A1700 @ Apr 28 2024, 10:37 AM) TIME upgraded the speed to 200M for RM99 package, so far have you guys seeing any counteroffer by TM?? Will TM upgrade their RM89 to 200M too?? Otherwise all their customers might switch to TIME. Impossible. Tm was the first to give free upgrade and last year only. Due to being forced to do so. They will not bother to fight with time Becos time only covers high rise and not even all high rise covered even. Most ppl who are staying high rise will no matter how go for time Becos it has symmetric speed which is better value.

QUOTE(A1700 @ Apr 28 2024, 11:07 AM) Sound like TM plan let go all their high rise customers to TME, only focus those landed customers (that no coverages by TIME). In this case, how to survive? Why cannot survive? Most ppl in bolehland still stay in landed. And network infra once setup they just continue to use it to make money. It is just the startup cost and ongoing labour and maintenance they need to bear. dun see a prob to it…. If they cannot survive, do u think they can even lower down the cost further? One thing also to build an infra to service landed users the cost are actually higher comparing to high rise. And again they are charging the same price also. This is where time can still come to disrupt the market Becos the cost for them to cover high rise is still profitable to them. While the advantage of tm is that they are monopoly which no competition. This post has been edited by westlife: Apr 28 2024, 11:20 AM

QUOTE(A1700 @ Apr 28 2024, 12:03 PM) Seem like TIME is very profitable especially in city area (High rise) which having a larger portion of population in bolehland. They will continue monopoly where TM sound like not interested. RM99 (200M) vs RM89 (100M) yes.. 200Mbps symmetric speed (both download and upload) at rm99 vs 100Mbps asymmetric speed (download at 100Mbps and upload at pathetically 30Mbps (to be fair also it is sufficient for most consumers though since most of the time they are doing download only) at rm89.

QUOTE(sHawTY @ May 4 2024, 03:36 AM) Agreed, it's much better tonight. However, it's still not as good as the pre-COVID era where everything loads instantly. After COVID, it seems like they've never really fixed the broken submarine cable. Excited for my speed boost tomorrow! Even though it won't do squat for latency, hey, it's free! LOL Speed boost to 1Gbps?

QUOTE(dev/numb @ Jul 7 2024, 12:06 PM) Apartment AX-57 probably enough already. You can even buy 2 and use the Ai-Mesh feature, but not needed in most cases for apartments. Fyi, I think the AX-57 has been superseded by a newer model, 1800HP or something like that. Do take note that the lower priced Asus routers don’t support Merlin firmware. Lastly, the prices in your pic seem higher than what I’ve previously seen, but maybe diesel naik router also naik, so I’m not sure. these are local promo by pcimage etc.. their price is normally higher than shopee etc... not surprise that even after this promo now it is still higher than elsewhere... u mean this one? https://shopee.com.my/ASUS-AX1800-High-Powe...d4-a0044bfe03ffsold by asus offical pc store on shopee.. 2.1k unit sold... but dual-band will it cause performance degrade comparing to tri-band? what is the difference if it supports merlin firmware or not? i check out all the models in the promo list that are below rm1k.. all dual-band only... QUOTE(dev/numb @ Jul 7 2024, 04:10 PM) Sorry sorry. I got my model numbers mixed up. The AX1800HP replaced the old AX55. The AX57 in your pic should be newer and (a bit) more powerful, so likely to be priced higher. Comparison: https://www.asus.com/my/product-compare?Pro...-servers-wifi-6Merlin firmware allows some advanced features, but if you don’t know about it then you probably don’t need it. Nowadays the gap between AsusWRT and Merlin is not so big anyway. Stock AsusWRT firmware is more newbie friendly since it contains presets for our TM, Maxis, etc settings and all that. Better to ask in the dedicated wifi router thread. More experts there. hi. yes. looks like the spec for AX57 is much more better, but again it is dual-band only. not sure if it will really has good performance.

QUOTE(dev/numb @ Jul 7 2024, 09:32 PM) Do you have many people in your apartment with many devices? If your environment involves many devices doing bandwidth heavy stuff (streaming, gaming, local network file transfers) at the same time, tri-band can help. If it’s just you and your partner streaming different shows every night, then no issue with dual-band. In most cases, you will likely hit Unifi’s limit long before you hit the router’s limit. ic. only two persons in my apartments... most of the time two PCs + two iPhones will be using the internet only.. PCs are via wired, while iphones are using wireless.
