If currently on 500Mbps @ RM169/mth (RM179.15 with tax), and already got the free speed upgrade 800/200Mbps.

Can terminate and re-subscribe again to get it cheaper at RM149/mth + free 3 mths? Will they also give the free speed upgrade after that?
*
You can choose to downgrade to SWU 500mbps plan if out of contract, no free upgrade.

Alright thanks.
Yes boss, thanks.
Where do you see these SWU info? I only got SMS from TM once, but not anymore.

Walk in to Tmpoint. That's the only way to get hidden package.

i did walk in to unifi store (pandan Indah), but they offer me plan as per website.. and told me if deal offer from Sales will be better or via agent (terminate and reapply new).

only when i want to port out, they offer waiver.. maybe is depand of unifi outlet how they want to con the consumer..
*
Yes, usually when you have transfer ID that is where they will try to give counter offer.
Try to go to proper Tmpoint, if cannot maybe can try another Tmpoint.

I have 2 months left in the contract with Unifi. The modem has a red light even after restart.

What are the on-site technician repair fees? The operator claims that it will cost RM 50 if the error is on my side but I am afraid they will ask to sign contract 2 years more just to restore service. My plan is the 200+ with TV which I never watch. Need guidance on what to expect later.
*
If ONU/cable issue they will fix it for free. Contract will refresh if need to replace router, which you can decline and buy own router.

800 Mbps upgraded to 1Gbps yesterday with black HW. Today speed dropped to 300Mbps. Looks like gotta move back to white HW.
*
Just curious, does the new combo router has setting for auto reboot? If yes, it can be put to good use, maybe set to reboot during midnight when you do not use the net.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 27 2024, 07:14 PM)
Hi guys, I have been far too detached from the UniFi package, but my sisters still use them.

1) RM 129 for 800Mbps (free speed upgrade from 500Mbps)
2) RM 129 for 300Mbps (free speed upgrade from 100Mbps)

Both are out of contract now, Are there any better deals for them? Especially (2). Can (1) still get a free speed upgrade to 1Gbps? laugh.gif
*
For (2), go Tmpoint and request SWU 4.0 plan. 300mbps without TV pack for Rm119.

Hi guys, I just got an offer to free upgrade from 500 to 800, with 3 months bill waiver. It will come with WiFi 6 combo box, which is modem+wifi in one box. If not mistaken, my existing ZTE modem should be able to easily support 800 with the 1Gbps port. So can I just ask them to do nothing to my setup? I am running a custom setup which uses EdgerouterX as router, and a pair of Deco X68 in AP mode.
*
Yes can. When the installer come you just tell them to not setup. As long as he do speed test which reaches the subscribed speed, record it in the restoration form, it's consider done. Probably he will just past you the combo router in a box for you to keep.
You may also ask him to setup the combo router but after that plug back the old ONU.

How?
*
I guest it depends how much you are paying monthly. For those who paid like 200+ a month for 800mbps maybe TM will move them to 2gbps, while those paying rm149/159 move to 1gbps.

want to ask, for existing customer, if want to relocate n upgrade plan, is it come with new modem n router? As existing plan already used in this house for 15 years dy, n want to remain the same unifi ID after relocate...

If not entitled with new modem/router, then is it better just terminate it n register as new user 🥲🥲🥲
*
Usually TM technician will just give out new ONU and router, especially when they see your ancient device. Nowadays it is combo ONU and router.

And again, stop making assumption for things that u dunno. I went and they offer me SWU 500mb for rm139. Which is more expensive than my current rm129. That is why I didn't opt for it. I believe alot of users like me waiting for SWU 5.0 or better deal to renew. Since someone mentioned about speed bump to 1gb. that is l why I am asking on terminate in the apps if possible for SWU or better deal. If anyone tried that before do share. Thanks.
*
Perhaps you can also try and share. Either:
1. Try to switch to other provider, usually TM will call to offer better deal.
2. Try to terminate as you mentioned, see if TM can offer something better.

I think my contract with unifi already ended last month but why I didn’t receive call geh it is I have to pura pura terminate my account with tm first then only they will counter offer?
*
To avoid termination risk and losing port, try switch to Maxis with 6 months free bill, then TM will counter offer before they approve your transfer. Otherwise, direct go to Tmpoint and ask for SWU plan.

Next those using not legal TV Apk will complain to their seller. Hehehe.

Seller will then sell them VPN. Maybe even preload some of the free VPN into the box and charge one time installation fee. This is opportunity to make money.

I'm on the 100mbps plan with free 300mbps speed upgrade. My 2 year contract is almost up. They are offering free 3 months for a 2 year commitment. Is there any better deal or should I just get the RM 136 after tax x 3 months?
*
Try apply to switch provider, maybe to Celcom or Maxis. TM will counter with better offer.

i'm just curious but is starlink the solution? it's satelite so isn't that outside the jurisdiction? any1 using starlink know if their affected by this dns nonsense  hmm.gif
*
Even if so, to get Starlink just to bypass the block is too costly. Imagine now you pay rm119 for 500mbps, starlink cannot give you fibre-like speed and latency.
Get a VPN instead.

Indonesian also never charged Low Value Goods tax below certain threshhold and never block DNS usage (only Default DNS blocked certain website)

The 10% low value goods is from previous PN government, which the current government just conveniently implement.

Hear hear! Those of you who never experienced the pain of EXTREME SCREAMYX SLOWDOWNS will never know how bad it was before Unifi expanded its coverage from around 2013 onwards. Unifi came into being in 2010 but coverage was extremely limited at first.

Here is the first very Extreme Screamyx Slowdown thread on this very forum, made in 2008.

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/746285

The late 2000s to mid 2010s (from 2008 to 2015) were horrific for wired ADSL internet costumers with no fiber alternatives, so desperate were people to escape the painfully slow TM network infrastructure that they resorted to subscribing to wireless alternatives like P1 WiMAX and YES 4G.

Remember the potong campaigns from P1 WiMAX which turned out to also be a POS once their towers and infra got over subscribed?

I member.
*
Hhaha, I came from Tmnet prepaid 1515 then streamyx 512kbps for many years. Then upgrade to 2mbps because my area does not support higher speed. Only subscribe Unifi lite 10mbps in 2017 the moment they activate Unifi on my taman.

Finally backed down. We can't fix stupidity, but at least we can talk some sense into the stupids. Or even if the sense never penetrate their thick skull, its still due to the sheere amount of backlash they backed down. Well done people.

Must be lobbying from some bigtime invester. Voices from the ordinary man on the street is nothing for them.

QUOTE(BenYeeHua @ Sep 8 2024, 12:28 PM)
Well, but you can get your port unplug if you unpaid for such a long time, so it is kind of, temporary solution.
Even me paid bill on time, when going back, I can found out the port unplugged, aiya... sweat.gif
Yes, I agree on using something 1112 to block malware by default, then give a event, like another free speed upgrade or free RM 10 discount.

Those setup their own parent control via DNS get a little benefit, I am sure, this suit the Malaysian most, everyone gonna grab it by learning how to setup a parent control.
Even it don't, as least by default malware is blocked. thumbup.gif
---
So yes, it back to topic, did they did it for protecting from malware, or for control?
*
Maybe if your taman has very little demand with unused port, they don't care. If your place has high demand the moment you terminate someone is gonna take the port.

QUOTE(Epic_winner091 @ Sep 8 2024, 01:06 PM)
Are there still Streamyx customers?
*
I recall reading somewhere around 37k streamyx customer as of 2023. Maybe now even less, as most uncle aunties are complaining that TM do not want to repair their copper landline anymore. Either you force to migrate to rm89 unifi to maintain your landline or subscribe their unifi mobile.

you can maintain the landline still if you do not wish to move to Unifi

You can opt for the Wireless Home Phone option, with a 12 month contract and they will give you a "Nanominds WHP-S20"
https://www.nanominds.cc/whp-s20.html

they put a Unifi Mobile SIM into it and your old landline connects up to the VOIP port of it
and it works just like the landline

Appears to be a rebranded ZLT S20 4G LTE Router
http://www.sztozed.com/en/contents/58/85.html

However, all the wifi stuff seems to have been removed/disabled, so it can only be used for VOIP
No internet connection either if you connect up to the LAN port at the back

It's not super great, it likes to randomly lose connection / reboot at times
*
Interesting. Maybe this piece of info is not so well communicated as they rather push to subscribe internet. If house with elderly parent who doesn't really use the net, means they buta buta pay just to get landline.

Lol... but i wish to lower down my cost though, haha
So guess i will see whichever cheaper first

Update:

So the guy call back and give me this offer SWU 4.0

Option 1 :
500mbps RM139 with 6 months waiver
TV pack (Ruby) RM30 without waiver

So it's (139 * 18) + (30 * 24) = RM134.25 prior SST / month

Option 2 :
Everything same price but only 3 months waiver with speed upgrade to 800mbps

(RM139 * 21 ) + (30 * 24) = RM151.63 prior SST / month

Guess i should go opt for other ISP ?
*
If you wish to lower down your cost, best is to downgrade to 300mbps rm119. For 500mbps, the price is around that rm139 range.

QUOTE(iCare @ Sep 10 2024, 03:49 PM)
Just want to share some info regarding this matter because I already saw the current internal pdf for the current offer. Some nice and polite TM staff from TM point showed me.

The 300Mbps RM99 (excl. tax) and 1Gbps RM159 (exl. tax) are part of Tier 3 and Tier 4 offer. TM made these Tier 3 & 4 offers specifically to counter offer Maxis or other customer that want to switch to other ISP.
I saw only 300Mbps and 1Gbps on the table for Tier 3 & 4. Other speeds are left blank, means no offer.

I saw some keynotes below the table stated that after 2 years contract finish, The Tier 3 & 4 offers will auto change speed meaning 300Mbps will become 100Mbps for the RM99 (excl. tax) and 1Gbps will become 500Mbps for the RM159 (excl. tax) packages respectively. So that is the catch for Tier 3 & 4.

For the Tier 2, it is the normal SWU we already know about. For example , if 300Mbps RM129 (excl. tax) will be reduce to RM119 (excl. tax). But this Tier 2 package will come with the postpaid Unifi mobile plan RM39 (excl. tax) per month and you have to pay first month whether you want to use it or not and can cancel it after the 1st month. And also includes the free 6 months and new router.

I don't read the whole pdf so I don't know the further difference in detail between Tier 3 and Tier 4. Maybe some TM staff in here can shed some light if they want to expose themselves  tongue.gif

So thats it, choose wisely before making any decision.
*
I am curious too, why they call it Tier 3 & tier 4. Hope there is no hidden agenda like lower network priority etc.

QUOTE(QuantumEdge @ Sep 10 2024, 06:50 PM)
Yes, Maxis never provide permanant discount
They will only give you monthly rebate for 2 years at most
And then they will leave you hanging there without contract and refused to give you any promo unless you transfer to Unifi
*
And now TM learn from them by introducing this Tier 3 & 4 plan laugh.gif

So far Maxis is ok. My Maxis line is riding on TM HSBB. I don't think you can apply new fibre without switching, unless your area indeed have 2 fibre infra.
