Base unit 14” MacBook Pro got a massive price reduction from 8299 to 7499 - very nice! Apple is pushing their laptops hard! AhJian and ASoulNamedLeo liked this post

Correct, and for most users, M3 and M3 Pro won't have big differences. The reduced price means that those considering to buy 15-inch Macbook Air M2 will jump to slightly more expensive 14-inch Macbook Pro M3 instead for the XDR display, headphone jack, and other goodies on the Pro. |

QUOTE(westlife @ Oct 31 2023, 08:46 AM) It makes MacBook Air m2 512gb a hard sell now also as the price of MacBook Pro 14-inch with m3 pro chip is very close to its price with everything much better. Yes, their laptop strategy is kinda haphazard now, hahaha… But the M3 MacBook Pro 14 is a dem good buy, for sure… QUOTE(twtang @ Oct 31 2023, 08:46 AM) Ouch! This is even more painful than mine |

Anyways, I intend to use my MacBook Pro M1 Pro for at least 7 years before my next change - just like I did my 2014 MacBook Air, hahaha… |

Basically Apple making Macbook Pro lineup more like iPhone Pro. |

If they killed the Touchbar Macbook Pro in M3,
That means they'll be killing the non-Magsafe Macbook Air soon next year, to replace with all MagSafe Macbook Air lineup 🤔 This post has been edited by ASoulNamedLeo: Oct 31 2023, 09:04 AM |

I've not used any Macs with unified memory before, how does it compare to normal RAMs?
Is it more efficient or about the same? I wanted to buy a MBP with 64gb of RAM, but Apple seems to want you to max out everything for it. |

QUOTE(ASoulNamedLeo @ Oct 31 2023, 02:32 PM) Apple, not using OLED for Pro Macbooks, they're using miniLED on 14-inch and 16-inch Macbook Pro. Higher quality than OLED and no burn-in issue. miniLED never higher quality than OLED. I don’t worried on burn-in. All my display is OLED now except MacBook Pro and iPad Pro.Will upgrade after Apple change to OLED. Nothing can beat OLED for image quality, especially on HDR content. After checking the event show, they keep talk on compare with M1 instead of M2.
Especially the M3 Pro is only a little faster than M2 Pro. Whoever have M2 Pro definitely not worth to upgrade. Skip this time, wait for M4 Pro. 😊 |

Really hardly any difference btw the M3 pro & M2 pro versions. Battery life is practically the same for the 14". Was looking to trade in the M2 pro considering the hype going around the M3 chips last year, but looks like there is no need...

The only reason to get m3 is for the space black option else no nid if we oredi have m1 or m2. The best time is to get discounted m1 or m2 mac when dealer here in Msia doing offer to clear stock. Andrewtst liked this post

QUOTE(Pat89 @ Nov 3 2023, 08:49 AM) No thanks, I've seen the discolouration and scratch prone effects for all Apple's space grey products over time, from iPhones, iPads to MacBooks. Even with their new chemically treated anodisation, it still won't stop those problems. Not to mention their new space gray is a much lighter tone compared to previous space gray. |

My 14” M3 Max has shipped. From Singapore apparently. So may be here tomorrow (although the stated arrival is 4/12/23). That’s the thing about Apple tracking though. Sometimes it says pickup at Singapore even if it ships from China. Perhaps cos the instructions originates from Singapore. aironiq liked this post

QUOTE(MacDaNife @ Nov 29 2023, 08:21 PM) My 14” M3 Max has shipped. From Singapore apparently. So may be here tomorrow (although the stated arrival is 4/12/23). That’s the thing about Apple tracking though. Sometimes it says pickup at Singapore even if it ships from China. Perhaps cos the instructions originates from Singapore. Wow..thats fast. I ordered mine just now. Expected delivery date is 7/12.This post has been edited by aironiq: Nov 29 2023, 08:53 PM |

QUOTE(MacDaNife @ Nov 30 2023, 01:24 PM) Demn! does that mean people who order thru Apple Store will receive their goods earlier than Apple Premium Reseller like Machines, Switch, Mac City preorder? Machines stated that delivery or store pick-up from 6 Dec onwards |

Went a few machines/switch to look for 14 inch M3 max MacBook Pro today and all of them don’t have stock. Some suggested to order through apple directly or otherwise order at their place with about 7 or more weeks waiting expected.
Just realised I forgot to ask some important questions tho. Like if order directly how to apply education pricing discount, and how the shipping works because my house usually don’t anyone at home so kinda don’t feel safe if direct delivery. Anyone familiar with this? First time attempting online purchase valuable thing like this so might have been a little paranoid |

Managed to get education price for two pieces of MacBook.
If you buy them separately they will only allow one per id. If you checkout both or three together, everything in the order will be education price. Question, anyone using a good USB C hub or dock? Currently using orico 100w powered hub, the hub no good, can only plug one HDD at a time. If plug two or more HDD it won't detect. I think cause not enough power to the hub, even with 100w thru it. Any my MacBook is also on the magsafe4 connected power, so it doesn't use the passthru power. Need a better hub dongle |

Hi all,
Watched tonnes of video and read many reviews, but still couldn’t decide, so turning to you guys to help me to decide. The internet reviews are so mixed. Usually, I open like 15 browser tabs, open probably a few word/excels sheets, a few pdf and watch YouTube’s.not much heavy programs.. no programming, web development, video, image or music editing. Is the m3 mbp base(8gb, 512gb) spec sufficient? I’m very inclined to the xdr retina screen, the ports and speakers, hence mbp instead of mba. Your inputs are very much appreciated. Thank you. |

QUOTE(ClericKilla @ Apr 20 2024, 03:38 AM) As I know currently only M3 Max > M1 UltraM3 should say ~= than M1 Pro (if without consideration on ray tracing part), as Single Core M3 > M1 Pro while Multi Core both are highly similar. Also real world performance would be highly negligible. Unless your upgrade is considering of ray tracing application usage, else if you want real upgrade better go M3 Pro directly. |

Yea I think programming still 16 GB would be still sufficient as long as you are not host entire production replicate including logging system onto local dev machine (also I won't recommend to do this as well), by right running for dev purposes with local dev db should be enough dUnless you are using on machine learning purposes then maybe 32 GB RAM minimum. Just wondering what docks works properly. Or my only option was a thunderbolt dock? |

Wondering is it necessary to purchase apple care +3years? Do you guys advise to purchase? Also any pro tips to keep our battery heathy? Because mostly I'm in office so advice to keep the charging all time? This post has been edited by splinter: Jul 24 2025, 10:47 PM |

no one getting this 2 year "old" m3 macbook anymore? cheapest i found.
Couple of days before 10-11 TMT thunder Shopee. [All sold out] - 16" macbook pro m3 max 16cores 48gb space black = RM8999 => 5 units was listed. - 16" macbook pro m3 max 14cores 36gb space black = RM8599 => 3 units was listed. iTWorld Lazada - 14" macbook pro m3 max 14cores 36gb silver = RM8499 - 14" macbook pro m3 pro 18gb 1TB silver = RM6599 before 10-11 - 16" macbook pro m3 max 16cores 48gb silver/spaceblack = RM10899 => pre-order 5 units left. m4 series are all discount around RM500-RM600++ for tech products i think 2 years is consider "EOL", kinda hard to believe that the m3 max 48g model the msrp was RM17499, after 2 years now 48.57% discount, brand new sealed box. Even cheaper than a used unit on carousell. Crazy. |

QUOTE(Rainings @ Nov 11 2025, 08:45 PM) the battery arrived dead, just fully charged and updating to latest macos. I might get AppleCare because I often work outdoors, but my MacBook Pro Late 2015 is still running strong, so I feel 50/50 about getting it. The only problem with my old MacBook is the broken speakers. do you plan to get apple care? i still have 60 days to consider. RM1950 for extra 2 years Rainings liked this post
