At least you are smarter. If they do not want to pay, they can stay and continue to gamble until no money to even go down. smile.gif

Yes ur right, got 2 types,

Strata gated guarded
Non-strata gated and guarded

Strata one the road and all facility is owned by the joint management body (JMB) and everyone there is forced to pay "maintenance fee" and usually "sinking fund" to maintain the roads and other facility. This one majlis no care and you also don't own the road, your porch, your house facade also you don't own it u can't even paint or renovate the exterior of your house. But you paid your "toll" every month for them to maintain the road and facility.

The non-strata one is just the security guard, you pay "protection money" to the security guard/company for your security. However, the road drain lamps grass all still belongs to the majlis, infact to set up a gated guarded, need permission from majlis because it's majlis road and land. Infact, it's still a public road and they cannot stop people from entering, the guard is just there to well guard lol

About that last part..I know they can’t build permanent guard post but there is a section at SS8 near the former roundabout coming from Tmn Megan & now became the most confusing intersection ever….phew I hope you know where I’m talking about….where they built permanent guard structure & block off some access roads. In fact, there are many of these examples in PJ where they’ll just fence off a few sections where it used to be public access.

Can we lipot to majlis? Or songlap liao?

Yes can lipot can viral also. The guard house and boom gate can be erected and they cannot actually deny you from entering and they cannot take your ic or even ask for your ic.

Blocking public road is also illegal. Approval from majlis only allow it to be guarded and gated not walled they cannot block public roads. That is if they even have permission to be guarded.

Maybe just maybe if they lower the admission charges to their theme parks, lower the odds for games in their casinos or submit themselves to independent scrutiny to check on the “fairness” of all their gambling games (like in US via Gaming Commission), then perhaps their business could improve.

You have a strange definition of improving business..Reducing profit to increase revenue? LOL
Every company out there will gladly reduce their revenue if they can profit more. That's why all property developers nowadays only make "high end" properties.

I’m not advocating gambling but I reckon they’re resorting to collecting tolls because business, especially on the gambling side, is not going well. There is a way to attract more ppl to gamble & that is using my suggestions…lower the odds (of coz the casino still has a huge upper hand) & make sure you’re not err..tilting the odds more to the house’s favour (for example using a non regulation dice).

It’s confirmed. The pictures from earlier this week showing what appears to toll gantries under construction at Gohtong Jaya are exactly what we think – we will soon have to pay toll to drive up to Genting Highlands.

The confirmation is from Sin Chew Daily, picked up by FMT. The Chinese language daily got the word from a spokesperson for the company that manages the road to Genting Highlands.

Lingkaran Cekap, which is 49.4% owned by Genting, will manage the toll operations, with drivers charged only when heading up the hill resort, and not on the way down – think Penang Bridge. The spokesperson could not confirm when toll collection will start, and the rate. However, she did dismiss the rumour of June 2024 and RM2.50 to RM3, telling Sin Chew that more discussions will be held before an official announcement is made.

<img src='https://<link removed>/image/2023/10/Genting-New-Toll-2.jpeg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

If you’re not aware, the road up to Genting Highlands was built by Genting in the mid-1960s and is a private road, which means that the company has the right to impose toll.

“Lingkaran Cekap is in charge of Genting’s roadworks, which include maintaining slopes, landslides, clearing fallen trees, trimming wild grass, maintaining sewage and streetlight systems and, most importantly, maintaining roads,” the spokesperson said, adding that the toll charges will take into account the maintenance work required and the costs involved.

Earlier this week, we shared pictures of a toll plaza under construction shared by Vincent Chow from the Eat Sleep Touge (Chat & Chill) Facebook group. The area in question looks like the tunnel inside the big Gohtong Jaya roundabout, going through to the Batang Kali side perhaps. Another image shows what looks like the side slip road going up to the Gohtong Jaya shop lots.

So, touge kaki, what say you? If you’re going to drive all the way up the hill for pleasure, and a cup of expensive coffee, what’s another few ringgit of toll, right? Or wrong?

I think it was done under communities approval for more secure living environments act like strata land function.

Yes you can report and remove it but then you'll lose safety measure which everybody going in and out will bypass security pos.

That’s not the point isn’t it? Gazetted as public roads it remains as public roads. You can’t just block off some section because of “safety”. At least they don’t seem to care about safety because I’ve seen some where the fire truck will have difficulty getting in to save their asses. If everybody can just seal off access what’s stopping me from doing the same too perhaps by blocking half the road in front of my house for “security purpose”?
