I really respect you guys man… last couple of months was a furnace and a half, everyday was like 38C, and you still did it without air conditioning  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

I’m actually more interested in how the hell do you guys use so little electricity per month…. Yes yes, I know, no air con and cold showers but still, RM50 per month!?

My electricity bill averages SGD700 per month (landed property, zero subsidies, and there are some 6 toilets in the house, and we get charged a stupid toilet fee per toilet, amongst other ridiculous fees)…

This is when having DC motors in all your appliances really pays off.

I've got two airconds at home, one is 1hp and the other is 1.5. Both airconds are on for 3-5 hours each night.

My fridge is 450-liter with a 5-star energy rating, and my washing machine too.

All my ceiling fans are equipped with DC motors. They were a bit pricey at RM500 but they're super windy and I don't need to use the aircond as much.

Work from home on most days and somehow manage to keep my bills under RM50. In the past two months, the bills did go up to RM70+ though due to the heatwave and I had to turn on the air cond in the afternoon between 2-5pm ish.

Edit: I always set the aircond to 27 degrees no matter how hot the weather is. I can tolerate the heat better than the cold. Keeping the ceiling fans and aircond filters clean is also important.

Newer house = newer wiring = efficiency.
Not translate to save cost but your appliance draw power smoothly.
Also your item using 4/5 star could save a lot. also, water heater and kettle draw quite a huge power even little time. Those who have like coway etc can opt to switch off at night and on during day time
