This part i am a bit confuse. In my bill, there is a min NEM charges, RM1.90 + taxes. I have generated 9kWh more and my bill is RM6.15 (420kWh import, 429kWh export, 19days bill) . Wonder how the -ve bill and less than RM2 even possible?  hmm.gif
*
the 8% SST is charged becoz this bill (very often the first NEM bill starts somewhere in the middle of the month until endofmonth) is less than 28 days ...

Recently got quotation from Pathgreen and Verdent my home is single phase and plan go with micro inverters (Hoymiles was the only option from both companies).

Pathgreen was able to offer 12 panels Trina solar panels and Hoymiles.

Verdent max 10 panels (JA/Jinko/Trina) with Hoymiles as they want to comply with Hoymiles warranty.

Pathgreen did mentioned warranty no issue.

So its Verdent 6.1kWp vs Pathgreen 7.38 kWp price more or less same varies by 3 digits.

Both side warranties looks attractive and seems like Pathgreen is the better choice but I would like some input from solar sifu/kaki here to help me decide.
*
What is the actual concern on Hoymiles warranty ?

Try to find out the exact model number from both companyes. I know PG quotation did mention outright the MI's model number.

Quotation given by PG shows Hoymiles brochure and types of models they provide.

So far I am still waiting for PG to clarify which specific models they decide to install.

Verdent will install a total of 3 microinverter units consisting of HMS-1600-4T and HMS-1800-4T

Simply put Verdent said their max panel installation for single phase is 10 due to complying with dc/ac ratio of 1.35x in hoymiles warranty statement.

PG however in the quotation provided by them, able to give me 12 panels using HMS-2000 and warranty according to PG should be no issue.
*
Many said that the peak performance for PV is very often limited by the Inverters, in your case it is the Micro Inverter. HMS-1600/1800 has a lower rated output than HMS-2000 for sure, so I don't know how a lower number of PVs coupled with a lower rated out of MIs could match the HMS-2000 and more panels that PG is quoting you. Is Verdent's PV having a much higher power out per panel ?

I'm not technical, just trying to understand from a buyer's perspective.

he already mentioned 6.1kwp... lower power pv lower power inverter is fine... is system matching...

but of course we all want bigger... 6.1kwp with 3 hms-2000 will work too...
*
Actually what is the limit of a single phase PV system? Some said can go 7kWp, some said max 6kWp ?

is not so simple for it to work.

cause u normally on aircon at night where no Solar time.

cause TNB will charge the surcharge before deduct the Solar credit.
700 - 1k KWh usage per aircon or total?

actually is about the lifestyle of set to 16C even know that aircon will not possible to reach that.

same like my old life style, set max for the aircon and pay for all the extra for nothing.
*
Agree..

Not many ppl understand the 25c logic .. many think that to have cool air blow out of the AC the temperature must be set to low 20c or even lower. They don't understand that aircond blows out air with a constant temperature of 18 to 19c so to get to 16c it is impossible tasks hence the compressor will never stop running hence the high power consumption.

QUOTE(scouser7 @ Nov 26 2024, 12:57 PM)
Hi everyone,

I’ve been facing a puzzling issue with my electric bill and hope to get some insights here.

I have a home solar system (5.82 kWp with 12 panels) installed by Pathgreen, active since January 2024. Initially, it was fantastic—my bill dropped from RM222 in December 2023 to below RM10 per month from January to May 2024. However, starting June 2024, my bill suddenly shot up to almost RM200, and it’s been consistent ever since.

Here’s my situation:

Only my wife and I live in the house.
No new electrical appliances were purchased in 2024.
We use just one aircon at night, set to 25/26 degrees with the fan on.
The house came with a separate solar water heater.
I’ve already done the following:

Called TNB – They claim there’s nothing wrong on their end.
Called the solar provider (Pathgreen) – They also say the system is working fine.
Engaged an electrician – He couldn’t find any wiring or appliance faults in the house.
At this point, I’m stumped. Is anyone else experiencing something similar, or does anyone have ideas on what could be causing this? Could it be related to the solar system performance, TNB metering, or something else entirely?

Appreciate any advice or suggestions!

**Snipped**
Try to get us your Solar App's data ie. monthly generation, then in your TNB Bill there is a portion that prints Import and Export. Share these data out so that some gurus here might be able to explain. It looks like your current bill is back to your 2023 figures (before Solar)..

New kid on the block here who plan to install solar to my 3 phase home . Here is the quote I got . Need sifu sifu advice and guidance here .is the package ok ? And Is it ok to use hoymile hms2000 microinverter on 3 phase ? My bill is 1.1k-1.5k monthly . Looking forward to have saving  atleast 50% from current bill after installation

this looks like PG's quotation page. biggrin.gif

You have a very good deal considering the size of your system. Only thing raised my eyebrows is the micro-inverter warranty of 25 years, how does it work? Even official Hoymiles warranty statement only mentioned : Micro-inverters (Model: MI/HM/HMT/HMS series) : 12 years.

not only that. you get 5 years of solar insurance... I had to get my own, every year.

and 5 years of operations and maintenance... that is another couple of  thousands.

and honestly the price is way way lower than what I got when installed 4 months ago, even though mine is 16.8kwp - 12kwAc.
btw microinverter sounds really good.

anyhow, not sure how bad other solar user's generation is for November... but it is below 25% below the good months. Meaning usually if 50kWh per day... now only 38kwh.
*
I'm using the original quotation/design as the baseline (as this is how I calculated my ROI) .

Original quotation 7.26kWh x 3.5 sun hours = 25.41kWh , minimum a day.
This month's Average is (Total 586kWh / 25 days) = 23.44kWh a day.

At least i know i am not too far from my ROI calculation even with this gloomy month.

guys can I seek your advice on Solaris and home insurance coverage pls.

My house is single phase. If I install 10 KwP panels without upgrade to 3-phase, from safety wise is there any risk of fire? Will it void my house fire insurance?

normal usage is aircond the entire night for master bedroom 2HP, in future will charge EV too, day time is 1HP aircond + basic desktop usage, not much heating appliances apart from shower water heater and water dispenser.
*
Fire hazard aparts, I can imagine the TNB Smart Meter would be able to trap how much Kwh your system is exporting during the lowest self consumption time vs. your Seda approval .. i think it is against the export rules ?

Seda Domestic guidelines Maximum installed capacity
Single phase 5kWac
Three phase 12.5kWac

why need warranty? doesn't mean cannot use if after warranty period.

Electricity generation should show dip if panels not working/inefficient. Probably can test and replace panels individually if no longer efficient.
*
huh? I'm trying to comprehend your understanding. So, new car can still use after warranty period, so why need warranty ? blink.gif

Sorry, but how do i share this info please?.
*
Do you have the TNB app in your mobile? If yes, click on your account (you should see a small cloud+lightning logo at the side of your account) , this brings you to the usage page, click on 'Day' to view daily usage. Below the graph, on the lefthand corner, you see 'RM' dropdown selection, change this to kWh. You will then be able to see your daily consumption in kWh. Hopefully this leads you to some clues.

This is what your panels generate extra that you didnt use. But 390 over a month shows that you over-installed your panels.
*
It is over-installed if this balance happens every month. But since it is a very cooling month this month in almost every where in MY, aircond usage is pretty much down by 50% or more so I'm also getting lots of balance this month, and i guess the same for Dec too - This is my situation.

but strangely, why the cheaper tiers are not filled up first , like mine ?

Because you have 168 KWh at the RM0.5160 tier, that's why it fills from that tier at 168 KWh, then the rest filled at the lower tiers. Mine is one tier higher at RM0.5460, so it fills from that tier and waterfall down to lower tiers.
*
i always thought that it fill the lower blocks first then the balance will go into the higher tier...

PG ?
Let's look at Pre-sales, project execution & support ?

My PG sales was excellent, never stop answering my queries, has been the fastest response compared to many other vendors. And they are professional in terms of getting you a proper quotation, site survey report, etc.

However, Project Execution was dissapointing especially in the area of project follow-up and status update. Many times I was the one pushing them for next steps and questioned them about status.

After Sales. They do monitor my site operation quite efficiently. There was a time when I turned off my home wifi, they called and asked if there was anything wrong with the home solar as they couldn't read any data. Anyway, this is just the first few months of support, will have to see it through the next few years to see how they perform.
