Dear all,

I am very new to solar...

Just installed solar package on 22 May 25, single phase, 6.71kw, string inverter, 5kwc

Now waiting TNB welcome letter, unit cannot be switch on until the letter received as informed by Salesman

My question is

1) Can we switch on the inverter now and using the power generated by Panel in daytime?
The salesman/technician advised that since unit is connected to TNB Grid, it may not be able to use it now until TNB confirm it.
If we switch on the inverter, we still using TNB electricity as usual... even the solar system is on.

2) after 10 years, if contract is over with TNB, the existing solar set up can be used directly in daytime? or need to modify/add on any equipment to continue enjoy the solar power generation?

I ask the salesman, he says yes, as long as solar system continue to generate in daytime...

I really confuse, why now cannot switch it on (must wait for TNB letter) but after 10 years, system can be used to power up home appliances...

Hope to get comments on this.

Many many thanks.

i'm sure other experts here would jump in shortly.. But in essense, the TNB meter must have activated Import/Export feature first before it can recognize the solar production.. that's all i know as a layman.

Hi All, since Solaris rebate is out, any good promo that currently available?
I got a quotation from PG 7.44kwp 23K cash for microinverter and 18k cash for string inverter. Is this same price before when Solaris rebate is still there? Just want to know as they advertise this as with 4K discount (normal price for this is 27K)
*
pretty much the same before Solaris time.. i got mine 7.26kWp MI from PG for 24K (partial cash + 24 mths terms) end last year.. Some got it cheaper from Expo and some got it a slight difference from different sales fella..

For those roof without shading issues, my advice is not to use Micro.
*
what about for those with 2 sites of a roof, one facing south and another facing north, both receive a different level of sunshine on each half of the day ?

Make sure the string inverter have at least 2 MPPT.
*
just curious, do most, if not all, string inverters on the market come with 2 MPPTs?

I see , if 7.45x 3.5 =26.075
And I getting even lower that.

My mother in law using 8.5 kwp system under Rewatts
Is getting around 16kwh today
While my 7.45kwp only get 10kwh
Both of us are at the same area

Feel like pathgreen solar panel not really good.
*
if your '10kWh today' refers to 20th Jun, then indeed it looks like it is on a low site. Mine is 7.26kW Micro system, on 20th Jun it produced 15+ kWh .. However do take note that my location, my panels orientation, system (MI vs String) etc may differs to yours, these criteria affect the data. If you want, you may share your data for past 10 days or past 1 month, share with us the daily production data and ask if anyone from your area using the same system (inverter) has the similar pattern or not ..

Before the new Tariff, we will try to use up the Solar production in day time to reduce the Import in overall hence to avoid ICPT, now with this off-peak rate everyone is advice to use more at night.. that's a big contrast and I would also think we should give these guys TNB, SEDA, etc. some time to draw a clearer policies for solar users.

your is 4.4 sunlight hours in Klang where average is 3.5 hours in klang valley. amazing

that's true to the 3.x hours in KV.. perhaps his single slope metal roofing does the magic, similar to many others who claimed similar better performance on this kind of roofing.

where is your house - i also want to come over to have gathering smile.gif
jokes aside - how many EV car you own? need 700kWh per month - how many km will it get you for 700kWh?
is it still worth it to charge your EV car at home with this crazy new tariff?
*
take it as around $0.50/kWh , a 60kWh battery EV would cost RM30 for average let's say 400KM... still boleh.

Buying electrical items these days require some kind of luck.. bad luck means we get lemon... very often happens on even the most trusted brand.. Just go with the mainstream like Pana Daikin with 5 star energy saving label..
