that isn't direct, i believe.

but those who had streamyx 15 years ago, went on to unifi 12-13 years ago has a long history.

streamyx->50/100->300->500->800->?? several free upgrades, turbo, free routers, free boxes, etc.

sure, they are paying among the lowest now, but they also had paid Unifi a lot of money over >a decade.

i m one of them. smile.gif

Your router seems got issue in the first place? My entry level RT-AC1300UHP (already more than 5 years) can support up to more than 500mbps (lan). No way your RT-AX55 cannot.
*
i m using RT-AC1300UHP.

ethernet, 800mbps - that's the max it can do.

wifi... depends on yr device and distance.

am suggested the next one to get is ASUS TUF-AX4200... for 1, 2gbps.

Hmm, I guess can survey first but if testing with TM equipment, and router issue, rather get my own still unless they give 2 units and sell it off haha
*
right, no need to rush.

TM gave me the DLink AC1200.

it was ok, but I prefer to use the Asus 1300UHP when i had 500->800mbps.

been using it a few years, v good, very reliable.

From these 2 days I noticed more and more people reporting free upgrade only 12 months, except those branches in Klang Valley? Too many posts I already lost track... rclxub.gif
*
biggrin.gif

actually, this is not new.

go back a few years, there was a time the same kind of frenzy happened in 2018, turbo or gobind, goblin... whatever they called it.

100->300, 300->500....

some had the word "perpetual" in their new bill, some don't.

i didn't see the word "perpetual" in my bill but there was no "temp" or "12m, 24m" either.

when i called months later, i was assured it is permanent.

think it's just a TM unifi way of doing things poorly, incomplete.... so, everyone keeps guessing, having fun. biggrin.gif

With speed upgrade, it comes with wifi speed headache for some 😬 Hardware upgrade is inevitable for some.

biggrin.gif

free speed upgrade is a curse! laugh.gif

really... this question of whether yr free upgrade is temp or permanent is definitely major - half the posts in this thread for last 10 days is about that.

those guys at the top at unifi must be laughing their butts off having fun - "see how they behave when we tell a bit but not all"!! biggrin.gif

the truth may well be... they dun blardy know yet, take their time to decide later... as has been seen before, nothing new.

This few days really frustrated with unconsistent speed after the swu 3.0 upgrade.
Since i have some lan cable lying around I try to swap them 1 by 1 and found out different cable give different speed. For those who are higher than 300 mbps is best for u to upgrade the cable from modem to router at least cat 6 and above to achieve ur constant upgrade speed.
For those who are less than 100mbps a cat 5e cable will be sufficient.
*
thanks to your reminder, i changed out this cable.

i had thought that cable in place was a cat6e which i bought at a shop.

but it wasn't labeled; manysuch cables aren't label... so, be careful!

after changing to a cable that came with the asus TUF AX4200, lan speed is now 82x (previously 78x), wifi speed improved too.

u made my morning, thank you! thumbup.gif rclxm9.gif

The cables that come with routers are always a safe bet (if long enough.)

Nowadays too many sellers selling really cheap but really bad Cat6 7 8 9 10... cables.
*
ya, i now have serious doubts about some of the cheaper cables in the shop!

Try with speedtest.net. TM's speedtest might overloaded. Takes so long to load its page.

so many questions on speed after upgrades, new router, new eqpt, etc.. n i m a little confused or maybe out of date on wifi tech...? biggrin.gif

will be good if u or other gurus can u help clarify:

assuming proper modem, premium router, correct cables, latest premium mobile phone used to test:

1. is it normal to expect full wifi speed using wifi 6, 5ghz? Or typically 70, 80% of max?

2. does it make a big difference using ookla, fast.com, netflix apps for testing?

3. if using wifi 5, 5ghz, close to router, what may be the max speed one shud expect... 30, 50, 60% of max?

Short answer.
1. 50-60%
2. nope, all having Malaysia hosted server.
3. 50-60%

I believe this WIFI speed was covered on Soonwai pinned thread.
*
that means...

ethernet : wifi
800 : 400-500
500 : 250-300
300 : 150-200

i m puzzled why still 1 of every 2 posts in this or related threads are about "not getting full speed with wifi"!

With latest premium router and phone...will able to max out wifi speed. Premium router here means something like GT-AX11000. Not just some cheap AX1800.
*
what if say, not premium-premium... but premium enough router n phone?

and... what diff will it make using wifi 6 vs wifi 5? or little/no diff?

Yeap. Have always been RM189 since the additional RM10 add-on for the 50Mb/s to 100Mb/s upgrade
Damn you. Here I am still paying RM129 for internet & RM60 for UniFi TV Ultimate Pack
Wish I can get the same price reduction

Think I can try downgrading from Ultimate to Ruby to get RM30 discount?

Oh damn, just checked UniFi TV Packs, it seems Ruby doesn't have Disney+ sweat.gif
*
yr history n price is similar to mine.

only diff is mine was 179. so, it's 119 + 60.

because i watch VOD mostly, i upgraded to ultimate max during recent promo to have netflix, iqiyi, hbogo on top of disney+.

this way, it's cheaper than a la carte for the ones i want.

i won't expect more... just give me 1 gbps... 2gbps, no need, really.

My lan speed, no upgrade, also showing some instability lately.

Think it's due to all kinds of upgrades, downgrades at this time, affecting whole network.

Maybe give it time to settle down...

sorry. my bad.
the older one is rounder corner with red-green LED bulb.
the new one is pointy corner with blue-red LED stripe.

i can confirm the new one can use with both general VLAN500 and with tv VLAN600.
already tested.

add:
to qualify, i don't remember if i tested using apps other than UnifiTV while on VLAN600.
*
the new upbv2:

vlan600 - unifitv works, other apps don't.
to use other apps, TURN on wifi as well.

vlan500 - everything works but unifitv PQ a bit lower in quality.
some users say vlan500 is better in terms of framerate adjustment, less hiccups than vlan600.

Is it google drive got speed limit download?
Before this i think is limited by my 100mbps plan
Max out 12MB/s, now upgarde to 300mbps, max out 13MB/s
If download 2 file, both file speed about 7MB/s

QUOTE(machoez @ Oct 27 2023, 06:53 PM)
anyone else got torrent throttled? using unifi before the speed upgrade can get normal speed for torrent. now only less than 1.5mbps
*
unifi NEVER throttle torrent. results vary with public or private trackers, seeds, peers, router, etc.

my 800mbps, new asus router, 5ghz wifi 50ft... i get 3XXmbps... and max 30MBps on torrents.

used to get max 24MBps with last router.
