I feel TS is using the scan to verify its original or not. Because i feel like if that company did not have valid tax sticker, then very likely its pirated. And he overpaid for pirated products.

On the other side, probably the company pirated the sticker and not the liquor as to not paying the taxes.

If TS has solid confirmation that the liquor is genuine and the problem is only about the customs sticker, i do not think he would post this at all.

I'm not being naive, but if I buy counterfeit whisky I can still buy tax stamp from government. It doesn't solve your problem 😂

If you want to know how these products can protect themselves from counterfeiting would be to have special codes or QR that leads into their website and etc. (seen in champagne or burgundy wines)

Customs stickers and shady business practices doesn't guarantee 100% authenticity.

I don't trust QR from government because I know how the system works.

Why would beverage company like Moet, or whatever high end brand ... want to scam you with a fake QR? They are here to build brand not to destroy brand with illegitimate products. Go and learn how champagne, burgundy or how fine whisky protect their own brands with proper QR or security check. The reason you don't know because you buy cheap whisky and kao peh kao boh here.

I didn't say it's not important.
The government sells tax stamp according to the imports. The government generate tax stamp via third party (only company given license to print).
The customs pass the tax stamp to importers to stick before it goes out from port or airport.

Here is how importers can mess up their tax stamp.

When generated they don't follow accordingly to the product when they stamp. It requires manual human labour to stamp over millions of bottles each year so there will be prone to wrong stamping. It's not the customs who stamped the sticker.
