for rm800 its a steal!!!!  hope comes out early so can give 8800GT a real fight...consumers also will be a happy lot...lol
*
many speculate this 3870 performs poorer than 8800gt, the only thing it can fight is the price.

how many cf users for 2900xt here.. and in most cases i always seems the multiple card is a waste of money.. thats what i think. i tried it before n i dun think i wanna buy 2 cards again.. reasons are, performance not justify the money u spend and the next generation high end card will always be better than current dual cards, but at the price of one card..

btw u r rite bout the crossfire X.. smile.gif
*
agree.
unless you wanna run multiple high resolution monitors, else it's totally a waste of money.
bear in mind crossfire requires high rating psu.
that's the extra cost many people usually didn't take into account.

between, don't get too excited with the DX10.1 feature from the card...
Crytek, Microsoft, NVIDIA Downplay DirectX 10.1

Legion Hardware 8800GT vs HD 3870 review

user posted image

QUOTE
Well there you have it, another disappointing release from AMD/ATI. Although they have managed to undercut Nvidia by reducing the cost of the Radeon HD 3870 by around 12% when compared to the GeForce 8800 GT, we found that on average it was 22% slower.

hey guys. my 3870 has finally fit inside the rig. i got one problem though. is it normal 2 idle at 70 degrees? blink.gif ohmy.gif i mean that is almost 3/4 of boiling egg temperature lo. laugh.gif doh.gif my previous card can hit 50 degrees idle though.
*
what brand?
my sapphire 3870 idle at around 65C everything default.
changed to 58C after i set the fan speed at 65%.
i'm using CM690 casing, there's one 120mm side panel intake fan blowing the gc.

ASUS. tongue.gif now i get stable 65 liao. sweat.gif how to change fan speed anyway? hmm.gif one more thing, what is the difference of GPU clock and memory clock? icon_rolleyes.gif why do i see some push the GPU clock more than memory clock? brows.gif can i do the opposite? laugh.gif
*
i think asus got give you the utility to set the fan speed.
or you can use the latest rivatuner to set it.
oc core gives more performance boost.

QUOTE(zeronehza @ Dec 26 2007, 04:18 PM)

Haha without second thought.

777 for sapphire HD3870 or 798 for PNY 8800GT.
Slightly go through few page and seems like ATI lose a bit of framerate against 8800GT but produce nicer colour is it?
HD3870 runs cooler than 8800gt right?
*
yup
8800gt generally runs 15% higher framerate than 3870.(both with stock speed)

edited due to some misunderstanding doh.gif

Just got myself 2 ThermalRight DuOrb for my CF Sapphire 3870  rclxms.gif . I know it is overkill but I want to push the speed up to 900 (after flashing the BIOS). The 2 DuOrb are the last one available at SLS, Singapore on Xmas eve. Running CF on my Dell 22".
*
it's Thermaltake not Thermalright.
how much you bought?

Minimum requirement for Tri SLI is 1100W.
*
my 3870 with q6600 1.52vcore fulload 100% = 330W
add another 2 x 3870, total wattage should not exceed 800W (assume 250w peak load for 3870)

yo shawty, a corsair hx620w also can why ur OP650 cannot.....

btw, if those reviews power consumption are measure correctly, a 550w would be sufficent with 50Ws to spare
*
agree.
op650 should be fine with 3870cf
