QUOTE(vearn27 @ Jan 23 2008, 11:47 AM) I just grab what in front of my eyes which I'm afforable. I wouldn't go beyond my limit. Hahaha... I'm ain't so lucky or that rich . you mean the budget limit or time limit? 8800gts 320mb is rm200 more expensive than 8800gt woh. unless the wait is about 1 to 2 months or longer, otherwise i'll just cross my fingers. rm200 is a lot to me man, it performs better too. QUOTE(clayclws @ Jan 23 2008, 11:16 PM) Haha~! Good for you man. I'm getting the GT this Friday Thanks QUOTE(sniper69 @ Jan 23 2008, 11:17 PM) , that GT or R600? IIANM, HR-03 Rev. A can fit into those R670 phew..., erm and is that 4/8 pin CPU power cable there, crawling under your HD3870 aight? it's HR03 Plus which is actually not compatible with RV670. but i modded it to make it fit without any problem. the HR03 Rev A can fit, but it's using 4 heatpipes instead of 6. ya, the power cable is not long enough to route through the back of mobo.

QUOTE(sniper69 @ Jan 23 2008, 11:32 PM) erm... what do you mean not compatible? it's about the mounting? yea... the reason why keeping my HR-03 Rev. A because of this la... still can be used even with 7950GT, X1900XT, HD2900XT and HD3870 nah, i don't mind 4 and 6 heatpipes, because the cooler itself is awesome... yup, it's using different mounting holes for 8800GTX i read somewhere the revA performs a bit poorer.

QUOTE(akachester @ Jan 24 2008, 10:48 AM) LOL..I also hoped to get the 3870 after CNY with the possible Ang Pow i can get But was wondering would the 9series be better than this. Of course, i have been in the Nvidia Era for quite some time and looking for a change towards ATI now.. i think you would change your mind after 9600gt is launched. it will be retailed at lower than USD200.

QUOTE(akachester @ Jan 24 2008, 12:29 PM) The question for me now is, would the 9600GT be any better than the 3870? Is it even better than my current 8800GTS? stick with your 8800gts. neither card will give you much improvement in gaming.

QUOTE(clayclws @ Jan 26 2008, 10:52 PM) Well, my HIS HD3870 (880/1333) with stock cooler and fan running at 70% has an idle temp at 58°C (min) and load at 70°C (max). With HR03GT, idle was at 43°C (min) and load at 53°C (max). I stress it with 3dmark06 and Bioshock. What I did was run them through really heavy scenes, and then, jump to desktop to look at the highest temperature before it drops. At idle, the difference was 15°C and at load, the difference was 17°C. I use Silverstone FN91 fan on the HR03GT. Added on January 26, 2008, 10:54 pmIt should be made known that the stock cooler with fan at 70% is rather loud. With the FN91 fan, you really can't hear any noise made by the fan. you should use rivatuner monitor.

QUOTE(clayclws @ Jan 27 2008, 02:21 AM) I leave Rivatuner on. But the thing is, when you jump out of 3dmark06 or Bioshock or any game, the measurement drops considerably. So, what I did was, run the tests, jump to desktop and see the first and highest temperature on the Rivatuner graph. After that, in less than a second, it drops more than 5°C even though the game runs in the background. For your info, I'm using Vista Ultimate 32bit. the graph will record down all the temperature, you can just drag the vertical line to check back.

that's powerplay feature from AMD. it will reduce the card power consumption in 2d mode. just like amd's CnQ.

QUOTE(vearn27 @ Feb 2 2008, 04:58 PM) I think this is certified as problem with Ati's driver already rather than the game, the card or our system itself. Quite a few suffering the problem where the screen went black when rendering some explosion. I checked my Event Viewer and it seems like error diagnosed with atidxcg where there was an infinite loop which caused error. Sigh ~ I'm using Ati Catalyst 8.1 leh... haven't fix the problem how about omega driver?

QUOTE(nightshade_nova @ Feb 4 2008, 08:07 PM) no oc just fine...,I mean with the e2140 only 0.1ghz increment + stock speed for gc.but wanna get better fps with my noob rig. with the 8.1 driver, it runs fine after oc using overdrive, but only 855/2400 i mean, wth...so small overhead room for oc... gonna try omega driver, but too lazy maybe tonite so positive this is psu prob.anyone can confirm? btw the pc's my family's actually building mine this july. it's the bios problem. the bios limit the oc max at 860mhz. system will crash if you set it over that speed. solution, flash it with the latest bios (hotfix)

QUOTE(nightshade_nova @ Feb 5 2008, 12:03 PM) flashing bios? the last time I flashed hardware, the hardware crashed and got to RMA. gotta do some homework ya, there is no other way to solve the oc cap other than flashing hotfix bios. google around might help you. QUOTE(maranello55 @ Feb 5 2008, 12:04 PM) my sapphire has a 850Mhz cap too....it'll drop the clock down to 33 if i go above that. Sniper69 has got his running at 1Ghz....I bet he flashed it. I'll asked him and post it here soon... the newer batch of 3870 come with the latest bios which has no limit for oc. you need to voltmod the card in order to clock it to 1ghz. sniper69 used pencilmod to increase the vgpucore for that oc result.
