QUOTE(Dgigabytez @ Jan 8 2008, 12:00 PM) yes true.. many of them blamed the hot temperature.. so how about 3870? no hangs/crashes? Any sifu here to tell out their experience? different architecture.how come 3870 loses out to 8800GT? i tot 3870 is equipped with higher specs like higher memory clock, core clock and GDDR4? example: conroe 3.0ghz is faster than brisbane 3.0ghz |

QUOTE(TheTraffic @ Jan 9 2008, 08:52 PM) Wouldn't that void the warranty? i mean changing the stock cooler into others?... they will let you rma as long as you install back the stock cooler with similar thermalpaste. If the stock one is ok and does not give any heat prob... then why should we change it just to see some decrease in temp? the 3870 run ok even at 95C, but wont you feel worry if you look at the temperature? i would say the stock cooler for 3870 is good enough for mild oc. i'm going to get artic accelero S1 because i already pencil mod the Vgcore, the heat is scary. |

QUOTE(sniper69 @ Jan 13 2008, 05:56 PM) i thought stock BIOS will fix the fan @35% no matter we force it via software @50% for example? yes? no? no, you can always use the rivatuner to fix the fan speed.erm... by using ATi Tools, i'm fixing her @50% speed... (manually la...), besides i'm on naked casing... check the link here, fan speed problem fixed bios. http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33912408 |

QUOTE(TheTraffic @ Jan 13 2008, 06:49 PM) But how come the reviews state that the stock cooler is sufficient? who told you it's insufficient? If it is gonna cause heat prob wouldnt ATI do something on it b4 release? That means all the owners of 3870 will have to change to 3rd party cooler? NO right? So i guess there will be alot of heat just that we have to adjust the fan speed right? So conclusion? no heat-PROB? 3870 will not die even the load temperature reach 95C. so basically if you don't oc, your card most likely will be fine with default bios. |

QUOTE(nFiniteFX @ Jan 20 2008, 11:16 AM) Hey guys, just curious, will I see any significant performance increase if I upgrade to Radeon 3870 from my current geforce 8800gts 320mb? Thanks. nothing much if you compare them at stock speed.unless you want better image quality, that's another story. suggest you hold the horse first, the 3870x2 is coming soon. waiting is pointless?
it depends imo. example: yesterday you bought a 8800GTS 640mb at rm1400 but today you can get the 8800GT 512MB at rm950. another one: yesterday you bought a e6850 at rm900, but today you can get the e8400 at rm750. do you think it worths the wait?
