So this means with performance stated 550 Km
So actual range would be around 400km ?
*
The official stated range of my long range version is 678km but the actual range (depending on my driving patterns) that is showing on my screen is 555km when the battery is fully charged. Therefore it's wise to slash around 20% off the official figures for the real world actual range.

It's funny that the road tax for Model 3 Performance version is probably gonna be cheaper than its long range counterpart.

M3P roadtax declared 461kW so… 😅
*
Oh really? Is the engine capacity for M3P in the VOC written as 461kW?

Since the horsepower of M3P is only 460hp (M3LR is around 490hp), I thought the electric motor power will be around 343kW (by converting from hp to kW).

M3LR doesn't even get 490hp at the moment, there's no Acceleration Boost as of now.
*
Yeah M3LR is not getting the full 490hp yet but we're going to pay the road tax equivalent to 490hp.

However, by the looks of it, the road tax of M3P is only gonna be the equivalent of 460hp (not sure how many kW Tesla Malaysia will declare).

M3P is paying for 461kW (as declared in the VOC) which is tak betul either.
*
Yeah either JPJ got it wrong or Tesla Malaysia declared it wrongly (maybe 460hp is misread as 461kW?). There is no way M3P has 461kW because 461kW is like 617hp (Tesla officially announced 460hp for Shanghai version and 510hp for Fremont version).

This figure declared by Tesla Malaysia, it’s a 461kW motor configuration on the M3P.

Problem here is, Tesla don’t use actual rated kW but using max kW from motor instead.
*
So the only scenario that I can think of is that the M3P is indeed 461kW but we're only getting 343kW output. Likewise with our M3LR, we're not getting the full 366kW or 490hp.

Urgh wonder what is holding them back for a frigging Supercharger station in Ipoh.

Keep in check your battery level if you leave the sentry mode on and not plugged in for a couple of days.

*
There's no need to worry about it because the sentry mode will be turned off automatically once the battery falls below 20%

You missed arguably the most significant improvement in this update:

The ambient lighting now has a setting to adjust the brightness

Just floor it man. For the best experience, floor it on the MEX highway when you're leaving Cyberjaya. devil.gif

Going to pick up my tesla tomorrow, but I wont floor it because I'm not familiar with the car, also driving high speed use more energy, need to charge often, not a good idea for battery life.
*
Come on man YOLO. Not asking you to floor it frequently but at least you gotta floor it once and for all during your first few drives. Just for the sake of thrill and adrenaline.

DA should warn new owners about the instant torque. Not just telling us to RTFM

Damn it sucks so much for both of them, especially the one who got banged. I'm sure they will remember the nightmare for the rest of their life lmao

Damn when are they going to finally install the long awaited superchargers at Ipoh? I think it's the only location left pending out of 10 initial locations they announced during their launch in July last year. I assume they must have faced some sort of 'roadblocks' in Ipoh.

For me it looks okay on white paint but honestly the black plate looks better for the other paints.

Dear Model 3 owners. I have been eyeing an EV for awhile. Finally went to test drive both Model 3 and Model Y RWD and to be honest, the experience was beyond my expectation.
Unfortunately the experience store I went to, don't have Model 3 LR.

So, I wish to get some clarification here if LR worth RM30k on top of RWD. My use case is mainly city driving (I do have another ICE) but may still drive long distance once every few months (Penang - North Johor).

1) Real world range concern - What is the real world range of Model 3 LR driving in highway 110-120km/h?
2) Audio quality concern - is the 17 speakers on LR much better than 9 speakers in RWD? On paper it seems yes. I tested the audio briefly, i can tell Model Y is better than Model 3 RWD. This is another factor that sway me towards Model 3 LR.
3) Anyone regretting not going for Model Y after getting Model 3?

The 0% or 0.98% interest is really tempting but ending soon. So, looks like I will have to wait for the next promotion cycle (if there will be another one)  sad.gif
*
The long range version is well worth the RM29k premium, it's a no brainer for me. You get extra range flexibility whenever you need it (around 550km of range for highway driving around 110km/h), all wheel drive & extra horsepower, much better audio system and to a lesser extent a slightly faster DC charging speed.

No regret on getting Model 3 instead of Model Y at all. Model 3 has much better handling, better interior with ambient lighting, better NVH and most importantly, Model 3 is so much sleeker than Model Y. I don't know why but Model Y's proportion looks kinda off to me, it looks like a vertically stretched Model 3 lmao.

Lastly, I would like to echo what @celciuz mentioned about the door closing of Model Y. The door closing of Model 3 feels so much more solid!

The only advantages of Model Y over Model 3 are the cabin spaciousness, boot space and the gorgeous full view sunroof, more suitable for a family car.

the long range rwd version is going to be interesting. wondering what will be the price in msia
*
The current LR AWD's range on 18 inch wheels is 678km (629km on 19 inch wheels) so it is actually not too far off from the new LR RWD's range of 702km (640km on 19 inch wheels). If the price of the new LR RWD isn't cheaper by much then I think the LR AWD is still the better pick.

M3LR 18” is 550km at 100% SoH, so EPA is 141 Wh/km, 77.6 kWh battery pack.

Dual motor = 77.6/678=114 Wh/km…
Single motor LR = 77.6/702=111 Wh/km…
Single motor LFP = 60/513=117 Wh/km…

Aiks, how come the NMC is more efficient than the LFP WLTP ratings.

Somehow I realized some brands their WLTP very close to actual driving but for Model 3 very much different 😂
*
Good calculation and I want to know why too lmao. Maybe the NMC battery is more or less as efficient as the LFP battery when the driver is not throttling hard and trying to reach the WLTP claim.

Yes Tesla is very different in showing the estimated range. Based on my understanding, the estimated range shown in a Tesla is actually EPA estimates (550km) instead of their marketed WLTP estimates (678km). I think this is a good approach as it gives driver a more accurate estimates but again I think Tesla could have just marketed the EPA range instead of WLTP range which is harder to achieve in reality.

I got a friend who interested on M3 rwd with 18 inch wheel. Wondering if using 18inch wheel the M3 standard is still 513km WLTP or maybe more?
*
The advertised 513km WLTP range for Model SR is already based on 18-inch wheels.

Hope they build one at Ipoh.

There are rumours that the Tesla Supercharger station in Ipoh will be located at the upcoming Sunway Ipoh Mall but the mall is still 3 years away from completion.

Hopefully Tesla will look into this and try setting up another supercharger station at another location in Ipoh while waiting for the completion of the mall.

It seems like Tesla has secretly removed the supercharger 'pin' at Ipoh that was pinned for more than a year. Damn what is going on with the long awaited Ipoh supercharger?
