KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has become the first Malaysian airline group to achieve the ISO 37001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) certification.
According to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the certification is an internationally recognised standard for the implementation of anti-bribery management systems within an organisation.
MAG said in a statement the certification currently applies to group-level functions involving governance, risk, compliance, sustainability, and leadership, with controls in place to manage bribery risks across high-impact areas such as procurement, vendor engagement, and third-party interactions.
"An effective anti-bribery system must be driven from the top. This certification is not just a formality—it is a firm declaration of our zero-tolerance stance against bribery, fraud, and corruption.

Bandar Kuching MP calls for temporary halt to ART works in Taman Stutong Indah By Aileen Yap on July 30, 2025, Wednesday at 3:15 PMS
Lam assisted and mediated discussions between the residents, Sarawak Metro, and the ART contractors, resulting in several immediate measures being agreed upon to address the residents’ concerns.
KUCHING (July 30): Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii has called on Sarawak Metro to consider temporarily halting the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) construction works in Taman Stutong Indah until a stakeholder dialogue can be convened and the residents’ concerns have been fully addressed.
Dr Yii said his office will send a formal letter requesting a meeting with Sarawak Metro and the project’s designer‑consultant to review the ART track’s alignment and design in full transparency.
“It is vital for all stakeholders to be involved so that every concern is addressed constructively,” he said in the statement today.
Meanwhile, Dr Yii said his special assistant, George Lam, has successfully assisted and mediated discussions between the residents, Sarawak Metro, and the ART contractors, resulting in several immediate measures being agreed upon to address the residents’ concerns.
“Sarawak Metro and the contractors have agreed to instal metal hoardings to prevent dust and debris from spreading to the surrounding residential area during construction.
“They have also committed to improving traffic management in the area and to issuing prior notices to residents if any closures or diversions could affect road access to the housing estate.
“To maintain the cleanliness of the surrounding area, the contractors have instructed their workers to properly dispose of all construction waste and rubbish.
“Furthermore, the contractors will direct their workers to avoid parking their vehicles directly in front of residential units in order to ensure better accessibility and privacy for the residents in the area,” he said.
Dr Yii stressed that while the ART project promises long-term benefits for Kuching, its implementation must not compromise the well-being of neighbouring communities.
“As MP, I believe it is my duty to act as a bridge between the people and the authorities, ensuring that development projects are implemented responsibly with minimal disruption to the surrounding community,” he said.
Dr Yii said his office will continue to follow up on these measures, maintain open communication among all parties, and convene further dialogue sessions as necessary for the good of the people.
No lah. He will repeat his 2015 promise of the Federal government giving back Sarawak the 50% tax revenue collected from Sarawak. WITHOUT the Sarawak government asking for it.

KUTS Blue Line Package 2 contractor praised for project management complex By Marilyn Ten on August 6, 2025, Wednesday at 8:01 AM
Lee (fourth right) tours the complex office facility, accompanied by project and agency representatives.
KUCHING (Aug 6): The contractor for Package 2 of the Blue Line under the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project has been commended for its efforts in building an Integrated Project Management Complex.
According to state Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, the contractor has done an excellent job in building a well-equipped complex that includes recreational facilities aimed at providing a conducive working environment for its employees.
“It’s heartening to see the care shown for the wellbeing of the workers, who play a crucial role in the construction of the Blue Line Package 2.
“Their dedication deserves our appreciation,” he said during the opening of the complex, built by the contractor Perbena Emas Sdn Bhd and CRBC (M) Holdings Sdn Bhd joint venture (PESB-CRM JV), held recently.
Lee expressed hope that other local industry players would emulate this effort, noting that prioritising employee welfare could improve productivity.
“Building a proper Integrated Project Management Complex could be the way forward for the construction industry in Sarawak.
“My hope is that, with a conducive working environment, the workers will be more dedicated and committed to ensuring the smooth implementation of the KUTS project and complete the project on time,” he added.
The minister congratulated PESB-CRM JV, and called on the joint venture to maintain close collaboration and uphold safety standards.
He also reminded them to work closely with Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd, as well as relevant authorities and government agencies involved in the KUTS project.
The Integrated Project Management Complex, located at the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway, houses 51 rooms for management staff, accommodating up to 70 people, and 54 rooms for workers, capable of accommodating up to 270 people.
Additionally, the complex houses the joint venture’s precast concrete production facility, which is equipped with a batching plant.
Examplary. Last time was the Pan Borneo Highway contractor where they built similar facilities to house staff n workers. Got sports facilities some more. The materials look like the ones in socme ads where they can ship to assemble. Once they are done with this project they they ship the materials to their next project for assembly n usage.

KUCHING: Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd (Sarawak Metro) has awarded a contract for the supply of hydrogen powered feeder buses to a joint venture (JV) company comprising SKS Coachbuilders Sdn Bhd and Sun Credit Sdn Bhd.
The company said under this contract, the JV company is entrusted to undertake the works of designing, engineering, procurement, manufacture, supply, installation, delivering, testing, commissioning and handover of 55 single-deck hydrogen fuel cell feeder buses.
“The contract, valued at RM122,441,222 including options, will be executed over a period of 43 months,” it said in a press release on today (Oct 25).
It added the hydrogen-powered feeder buses will support the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) system network under the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project, in providing the first and last-mile connectivity.
“A total of six tender submissions were received at the close of the tender exercise on July 26, 2024,” Sarawak Metro said.
Sarawak Metro chief executive officer (CEO) Ts Mazli Mustaffa said the award of this contract represents a significant step towards building a more reliable, convenient and eco-friendly public transport network in Kuching.
Update - March 9, 2025
The Sarawak government is still aiming at starting the first phase operation of ART Kuching in 2026. At the same time, this will fully hydrogenized Kuching's Public Transport. the ART feeder buses are also hydrogen buses.
take note that the trial for the ART was completed last year and final specs of the ART trains submitted to Manufacturer. The rolling stock trains are the newer/upgraded version of the Trial ART train bearing the Swak government logo in the earlier post. The ART vehicles/trains will also be equipped with dedicated areas for luggage, wheelchairs, and foldable bicycles, enhancing their user-friendliness.
For transparency, there were few articles citing the transport minister that the first two trains would arrive end of last year but that did not happen. Good to hear that they are still confident to start the operation in 2026. The actual aim is to complete the full lines in time for the SEA Games in 2027. Take note the trains connect to Multiple tourist attractions running all the way to Damai/Santubong/Cultural village area. It also being planned to connect the planned deep sea port and the new Kuching state of the art Airport within close proximity of the new deep sea port (that can allow the docking of cruise ships)

“How will the residents be properly compensated for the loss of peaceful enjoyment of their houses with the construction of the ART track right above the compound of their houses?”
He stressed that while the residents did not oppose development, they were simply asking for fairness and respect for property rights.
“A person’s house is his castle. It is also our constitutional right that no one is to be deprived of his or her property or right to enjoy it without reasonable compensation.
“All the residents are asking for is that the government revert to the original ART track along Jalan Setia Raja and not to construct the pillars of the track right next to their fences and its track above their house compound,” he said.
