by driving on your own with your hand on the steering.

I thought all malaysian would rather stuck in traffic jam for an hour compared to stuck in a train himpit with others for an hour? Dah la freedom sendiri control sendiri punya travel time, dun complain other stuff la. Me for the sake of avoid traffic also go himpit with other angmoh moi in tube for 30-40mins to enjoice my eyes while finish work go home. If drive can just stereo prawn while driving. Shioks.

I think im a very good bawse.

I pay my monkeys 1 hour extra OT so they miss the peak off duty hour. Im nice right? The only thing they had to be bothered with is missing some dinner or drinking date with other lapsaps, aka useless cheong entertainments.

Depends.

If you think Cheong more worth than that 1 hour OT pay, just go for it. I dun ban them from doing that anyway. They choose piap over an hour taxless salary.

Sometimes I cannot brain how people thinks.

Just because you and others finish 5pm, you must pecut Vtec Turbo to the tube station and immediately stuck with the others to go home ASAP?

Just because you have family, other PKHKC must give you chance to go home first and foremost, because their life is sadding more than yours?

Just because you got responsibilities, you must be home/cheong/leave work/go to your entertainment instantly over the others?

This I very heran, honestly.

Till today, all my monkey staff that behaves that way, died middle of the street named "LIFE."

You see. That is why I kept on saying it's attitude problem.
Not saying that volume is not the cause
But I am sure traffic can be more bearable and shortened if not for the attitude.
Like if say those going into the bangsar south lane dun block other lane, sure the traffic will be smoother.

Or do it like me, hab a car home, hab a car in office parking. Work got car use, home got car use, morning morning take tube to work.

Buntut gatal, Jubilee to Northern until Leicester Square. Buntut more gatal, Elisabeth Line to Oxford or tottenham, jalan kaki down chinatown. Buntut tarak gatal, DLR to Circle, embankment turn jalan kaki. Whichever I shioks that day.

Or being an ass, call my Airbnb driver come pick me from home to work. Usually if that happen, me 7am to 10am active K whole time.

Before I started working full time from home, I had to commute 1 hour to work everyday, so to make the ride less stressful, I made the best of it by listening to audio books especially self help books which really made the time pass faster and less stressful. There's a new app called headway, where to condense a book into 15 min to give you the salient points, give it a try and see if that helps. wont hurt to try.

Good music and 2 laptops.

At the same time, will bring my Mavica cameras along. After work, go snap some pics somewhere with a bunch of 25 year old cameras. Satisfying.

Once done, sip some coffee, watch some movies or TV series then only head home.

I'm not going to waste time on the road with others.

Back to 10 years ago. Drive from Cheras Balakong to Kota Damansara, start the car at 6.30 am and arrive at 8.30 am. Back home from 6 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. or 9 p.m. It was really a nightmare back then. I was so thin because of the stress of having to commute every day for so many hours. I don't know how I went through it for so many years.

I also have this same question
How korang can tahan a life style like this?
Wake up early, rush out from the house early in the morning just to avoid jam or worse, still get stuck in a jam.
And then after work, mentally already tired, stress. And have to jam all the way back home.
Or purposely stay back in the office just to avoid jam

I never drive to work more than 15min. When I started my internship, I rent somewhere close to my internship place. Same goes for when I started my 1st job, about 10min using bike. Then I jumped to my 2nd job, few months after starting my 2nd job I move out and rent somewhere very close, 5min drive by car. I can even walk to work. Now I'm managing my own company, I bought an office close to my house, and set a rule of flexible working time and space. My staff can work anytime and anywhere they want, as long as they get the job done. My server can be accessed everywhere, as long as u have internet.

Its 2023, people need to adapt. Why waste time commute?

I know this sounds like a stupid reason, but I refused to work in PJ area such as PJ 33, Jaya One area, Jalan Tandang or Bangsar South area or any parts of PJ that I have to use Federal highway.

The jam is totally horrible than using NKVE. I hate Federal highway so much.

That's why if you are smart. You should tell your boss to let you come in 1 hour later or earlier or at a suitable time without jam. If your boss is smart he would probably approve because he should know that jam is going to take a toll.

Deswai I left selangor and come back to my hometown to work. Sacrifice higher salary, but get to be with family and less time wasted on the road. My house to opis only takes around 7 minutes (10 minutes max if bad traffic)

*
It may help at the start but trust me. After a while, you will still get fed up.

You see. In traffic, it's not only about time wasted. You have to deal with very very rude driving as well.

serious answer : i cant, honestly. my commute is 45 mins and i hate it, from Kajang to KL Sentral (using the contra lane).

more serious answer : i honestly didnt "waste" that time. i use it to listen to "educational" podcasts. I listenned to "Tom Scott's Lateral", "Stuff you should know", "TED Talks Daily" just so that i dont feel like i waste the time, as in "huh, at least i learn something today".

joking answer : klang valley not for human to live one.

Have you seen the jams in Kuching and Kapit lately?

the fact that the jams in Kuching are not as bad in KL is like saying that it is better to get slapped in the face than to be kicked in the nuts. Sure, but neither of them are ideal to begin with.

Now the jam expanded to Mid Valley also. The road from Mid Valley to Federal towards PJ morning and evening also jam. Some stupid thing they did to the road. Move offices to Mid Valley and eco city, no point renting in Bangsar South.

Your toll 1 month already 300. Petrol and time say another 300
If say you are earning 6k. That's already around 10% of your income.

i went to visit a client there in April.
luckily i was riding bike.
usually it's already very jam there. but that time it was worse! because on the mainroad there, they close it off for some road construction works and traffic redirected behind KL gateway there, the sekolah there. Lucky i was riding. pity the car drivers though.

It's not really don't want public transport. It is taking public transport makes no difference.

If you drive to work need 1 hour, do you think taking public transport will be less than 1 hour?

Unless you can significantly save time, then people will consider.

Are you taking public transport yourself? If yes, from where to where?

Even if public transport takes an hour, at least no need to concern about parking at destination, need to focus on the road, etc.

Can either do some work on public transport (#productivity) or something else, be it reading, catching up on watching with earphones.

The problem in Malaysia is that for most people, there is no option other than to drive to get to their destination, especially for daily commuting to work.

Many tolerate jams out of necessity. Having a steady paycheck which puts food on the table and makes payments is a great motivator.

Try to find less-jammed routes if possible.

i got a friend.
every morning leave home at 6:30am, reach office at 7am.
to avoid jam and to get parking space. Sleep in the car until 8am.

Then stay back in the office until like 8pm++.
reach home at around 9pm. Only can spend like few minutes with his kids every day before they go to sleep.
then at around 10.30pm. he goes to bed.

Being awake in his own home for less than 2 hours everyday.
he spend more time in the office and in his car.

Really sad life

You can only do what you say if its non-peak hours. Taking public transport during non-peak hours really joyful.

If it is peak hours, it is jammed packed and uncomfortable.

Driving is a different as even though its jammed, you are still comfortable in your car.

Our development was never properly planned. We have industries in residential areas and vice versa.

It is all over the place which makes taking public transportation not really feasible.

it is not about you. it is about or road condition during raining.

yesterday morning around 7.30 am rain heavily at PLUS from seremban until serdang/kajang there.

other highway users cannot see you properly. if you ride at emergency lane, it is hard to see what obstacle is there such as lorry tire etc etc.

if you ride at most left lane u will have to ride behind lorry or bus or other bigger transport and the water from their tires will sprinkle at your visor and your vision will be very limited.

this is the challenge. so you up to it?

Not about saving time anymore tbh because my home to office are opposite ends of the line but its more like having a consistent time taken to commute to work without spending 1hr to find a carpark laugh.gif

Actually yes, drive need 1hr because of the car jam
But only 30 mins with bus because bus lane empty whistling.gif
*
Only if you're lucky but a lot of people who take bus are also jammed like cars.

Let's be honest here, if you have a car, will you still take bus if you know you arrive more or less the same time.

The deciding factor is probably cost. If you can afford it, most will pick car.

Compare standing with sitting. Which one is more comfortable?
*
Sitting in traffic for 1 hour isn't what I'd call comfortable.

Maybe it is just me, but after a long day at work, bit of standing might do us some good health wise. Also as people get off, chance to find a seat.

Bro.
in this situation. I know lah.  I too will stop at petrol stations or R&R.
if very heavy rain until visibility is bad, i will stop also.

i'm talking about normal rain.
*
same problem - too heavy rain - visor cannot see already.
I wonder if those water repellant spray in MR DIY useful or not...

If visor able to repel water effectively enough - maybe even heavy rain also no problem since the problem is cannot see road.

I'm using this . effective.

to get the best effect, make sure your visor condition is good.
not many fine line scratches, etc. then it will repel nicely.

another thing you need to consider is foggging (if you are wearing full face).
get full face helmets that have pins to install PINLOCK (anti fog layer).
all my full face have this PINLOCK.

1 hr normal la, penang 1 hr jam normal, afterwork usually 1.5 hrs to arrive home. full tank usually only last 5 days

basic salary 5k monthly. my first job from my house to Raja Uda ady 1hr for 3k basic, not much difference in time spent

I got a schoolmate.
just bumped into him recently. didn't see him after we left school.
coincidently he's my vendor.

anyway, he bought a house near slim river.
his office is in Bangsar South.
every day he wake up at 4.30am and then at around 5:30am drive to nearest KTM station.
take train to KL, then take LRT to BS. WOW.
reason to buy this house? Cheap and big and country side.

at least 3 hours per day on the road (monday to friday)
one week will be about 15 hrs
one month will be 60 hrs
one year will be 60hr x 12 = 720 hours wasted on the road (minimum).

That's very common in the Western world

Heads of Main Board/Top 100 stick market companies take public transport to and from work.

The CTO of the 8th biggest Australian bank by Market Capitalisation takes the same train as normal commuters.

It is only in Malaysia where the populace think car > all

(Admittedly, not helped by the poor public transport system in Malaysia, but something something chicken and egg situation)

not to mention everywhere is walkable from the station
and they even have walking path that cut across buildings so that they can walk the shortest route from the station

here some station cannot even be accessed due to highway cutting our path and in the end need to walk using road path which is super far..and the walkway can suddenly end and end up walking on the road together with speed cars

not to mention everywhere is walkable from the station
and they even have walking path that cut across buildings so that they can walk the shortest route from the station

here some station cannot even be accessed due to highway cutting our path and in the end need to walk using road path which is super far..and the walkway can suddenly end and end up walking on the road together with speed cars

QUOTE
Yeah. I realized that Penang drivers don’t understand how pedestrian crossing traffic light works. Most of them time it would take 3-4 cars to pass before someone actually stop. And that’s because they saw you struggle to move from the pavement.

There was one time I got almost hit by a car at pedestrian crossing with traffic light already green for me because I thought she was stopping since she already slowed down in traffic jam. Babi betul.

Nothing wrong to have just a sign board as bus stop.
Die die must pick a bus stop and say it is on a gutter? Are you a Penangite? Just 100 m down the same road has a proper bus stop with overhead roof.

Apparently this guy is picking fine bones from an egg.
He dares to show google map and yet failed to see 100m north and 100m south have proper bus stops.

Just want to blame stupidity to state gov FFS.

If you want red carpet pedestrian or European style walking pathway. I don't need to argue with you.

Also, you better go and count  how many bus passengers are waiting there everyday and see worth the money to build a PROPER bus stand.

At least get to read bed time story. Talk about their day. Morning wake up breakfast with family and kids before sending them to school then only stuck 2 hours jam.

Doing all that dont even take 2 hours of your life. One day got 24 hours, let's say u damn good life get sleep 8 hours. Drive 3 hours jam. Work 10 HOURS. You still get 3 hours of time with family. Still tak cukup?

You guys think raising family only involve fucking and then provide food+money on table?

Try listening to an educational podcast,
Drive earlier to work, I used to leave home at 6.20am, zoom through LDP like a bauss (force u to sleep early as well)
Reach office, parked then go to gym or do something u enjoy,
don't stress while driving, just take it easy. Don't use up additional mental energy.

I make a hard decision (no 2) but it worth it:

1. I bought a scooter...now my car only starts once a week to charge the battery

2. I rent to a closer place to my and wife workplace. The time different is a lot especially for my wife, before rent she reach home around 7.30 pm,, now around 6.40 or 7.00 pm already reach house. The house I bought I rent it the same price I had to pay for the current house I rent. No profit, but both of me and my wife can get home while the sun still there...

bangsar south is cursed, can't imagine whoever larat face the traffic jam when driving car there everyday

It's not inside Bangsar south itself. It's okr in front of balai police that traffic, then there's the rest that accumulates to another 30 minutes.

OKR to Bangsar South - can take NPE

But of course need to pay toll...

Pay toll also 1 hour la bro. I remember I was stuck in front of Goodwood residence for half an hour. Same spot 30 minutes. Not moving at all. Bloody ridiculous. My manager using same route so he was also understanding cos he got stuck as well.

40 km/h santai2 bro, janji sampai office

Recently inherited a Yamaha Y80 from 1986. which is why I had to keep driving for the past few months.

Now also like you, santai 40-50kmh, still get to reach office in less than 30 minutes. Mental health became better, able to focus and spend more time at home with gf and doggo.

Now exploring other job opp anyway. Here work 6 days a week and claims from May until now not approved yet lol. Fuck me.

*
Well. But how long are you going to do that for.
And you forgot to include 1 or 2 hours of your own lunch time.
How sure are you that you even have 3 hours left? You forgot to include shower time, washing up time and others. Let's be real. You really have 3 hours left? So you dun do dinner etc. Or even go to shopping etc.

And you probably dun even have weekends left because you will probably be sleeping in if this is the life you are living.

But if you are living this type of life, then ultimately you end up putting money and food on the table without your own life and it's a miserable one.

No wonder ppl burn out after a while.
