if you are the medical officer, would you volunteer to do the surgery?

damn, I wouldn't do it.

what the heck is wrong with the stupid MO??? He thinks this is something experimental that he should explore is it?

he is dealing with 2 lives there !!!!

hope the MO is also liable

hey, we all in hospital likas (sabah) had to do 10 of those caesarean section as houseman (no experience) with supervision by medical officer, not obstetrician/gynaecologist. i think its the same in any gov hosp that have houseman

so now you say, even mo need pakar to supervise, when all the ho need is mo to supervise?
how la as mo no experience? didnt the mo have already experienced housemanship?

Yes, the correct procedure would be to activate qualified personel back to hospital to perform surgery.

The MO's job would be to stablise the patient and unborn baby whiel waiting for help to arrive.

"The inquiry found that the medical officer on duty had no experience to perform the surgery and that it was done without supervision by an obstetrician and gynaecologist."

haha yea right... O&G is one of the strictest departments in any hospital, especially gomen one. This is a case of hiding and protecting someone's ass, and put MO in the firing line. Wont lose job also. But cannot put blame on the specialists because of name and face.

Anyway, RM5m is nothing, literally.

maybe it was emergency case?
*
No such emergency exist. Getting a non-qualified personnel to perform surgery without supervision is even worse than not performing surgery.

In an emergency, MO does what is best using his/her abilities. IF MO needs a specialised person to perform certain procedures, correct way is to activate the person, not try himself.

unless the family is rich to cover his loss and he's there do housemanship

if the 5.6 cant be collected, the fella just go broke and bankrupt only, and cannot practice medicine for at least 10 years or forever

5.6mil cannot even cover the girl life at all

Then you pray that your wife won't premature + c-sec.... A lot private clinics and hospitals don't even want to deal with premature delivery...

Lol. O&G MO mostly already certified to perform csec la. Even newly graduated mo once posted in o&g department also will be supervised by someone with more experiences first then they will be allowed to perform csec by themselves. And heck sometimes registrar or senior mo in o&g if there is intra op complication will call specialist/consultant to intervene. This case mostly mo with no experience or less experience to perform csec.

WTF
How can a medical officer with no experience perform the surgery in the first place?
*
I believe this is more the SOPs in hospitals that allow a MO not trained to do the procedure to carry out the procedure. It's good govt and the hospital admitted liability, if not lagi sad.
