MAE app is supported only on Android 9 and above.

The older M2U app may be lower.

I tried M2U on older Android, the 3 dot thing keeps circling never proceed any further. Is this means busy or it doesn't proceed due to no Android 9?

Now I'm trying to pay my bills online this weekend got lockout for no reason, cannot even update them anymore...
The Secure OTC/OTP don't even come into my older version apps anymore.

These moron banks never thought it would inconvenience their customers before implementing this?

What am I supposed to do? Go out and buy myself a new phone just to cater your wants as  a customer? You know how many apps I got in my phone to do migration?

Make a visit to your stupid branches and request for a SecureSign Token device on a working day when I'm busy at work with no time off?

Ada pakai otak punya kah the dumb executive officers?  ranting.gif

The hated part when buy new phone or reinstall Window. Have to redo all customisation and settings again. Atleast if phone same brand. You can clone at least most the stuff to new phone

tng/boost ewallet can (if ewallet got registered with bank cards for quick reloading, thus no need to use OTP/app approve, however is more risky)

I think HLB also have.

How does it work actually? Does it needs some form of Internet connection?

And to use Token Device, is the codes generated similar to the ones that get from secure apps? (Im assuming as if the token device display a code like SMS Tac, but perhaps it's not?)

Singapore also still not adopted it yet.
Their UOB HQ Mighty app still available on Play Store.

How many people change phones so frequently to cater to your needs? SECURE TRANSACT not good enough after replacing SMS TACs?

This is causing unnecessary inconvenience and trouble to your customers.

At this time Maybank M2U, HLB Connect still working fine on older Android.

Android 10 above is still not popular among many. If Android 7 below maybe most people already abandon but Android 10 above??

SECURE TRANSACT is only as secure as the OS your phone is running.

And running the latest OS and is updated is the most recommended way forward.

Just change your phone every 2 years, and you are literally going to the get the latest one.

I do so, and so does almost everyone I know. Some years if the new model is compelling enough, we change our phone yearly.

Actually the safest is still having a seperate token device.
Your phone can have malware that can steal your password, username and someone can hack into it and just click onto the MAE or whatever thingy anyway.

Maybe close unnecessary accounts, just stick with one or two banks.

The token are battery operated, the one i use are under rhb current account over 8 year the token still alive just recently the screen starting faded probably low battery.

Token part everytime generated random pin/password login, then when making transaction will give your set of pin key in to token then token generates another set random pin for transaction approved that how it's work for my RHB current account

Just purely sharing with you how the token work , and pbe I'm using pbe app for personal transaction no token is use, after register everything you just need to visit pb atm to approve your phone, if your phone reset , clearing pbe app cache you need to visit PB ATM to approve your phone again , even phone changed you got to visit pb ATM again 😂

This Forum about "Old Phone Locked Out Frm Bank Apps" started last year Jun 2023. This year July 2024 (after a year) it happened again.

RHB App can't be upgraded unless you have Android 11+
It failed to upgrade on Android 10. Anyone facing this issue?

I upgrade all my other banking Apps and it work, except RHB App.

Google already stopped supporting Android 11. Right now, Android 12 is the minimum supported version.

So, it is just a matter of time before banks stop supporting even Android 11.

I have a few advices for you and other people, for your next phone purchase:

1. Before buying new Android phone, do research on which brand has the best Android update policy. Here are the list: http://androidauthority.com/phone-update-policies-1658633/

2. When buying new Android phone, buy the one from brand that has the best Android update policy.

3. When buying new phone, buy the one with the latest OS.

My Samsung Galaxy A73 5G came with Android 12. I had updated it to Android 14. With Samsung's policy, I expect that my phone will get Android 15 or even 16.
