Please don't justify bad design. If a junior programmer showed me this I would still correct him the same way.

Too many notifications and you get complaints. But not enough and you get problems like this.

The easy solution is to annoy the heck out of the 10% of users still clinging to older versions but leave the majority alone. Show them nag screens every time they start the app.

At the end of this period, you should get the numbers down to a reasonable number 2-3% if you are lucky.

Update the app with a new notification one week before the major update goes live. Ask the 2-3% to come get the hardware token.

Bad design? LMAO. The whole app is a bad design, I gave it 1 star on the play store. But no, blanket push notification is not a bad design.

what happen to their share when they discontinue website/online banking browser support for IE 6.0, IE 8.0, IE 11.0?(or did they ever support) android 8.0 no longer supported by google, similar to IE no longer supported by Microsoft.. still developing on unsupported platform, u share will plummet even more..

If the apps are good and functioning ok, but this, apps also not function properly. I use one of the apps. It ask to approve transaction, i approve via apps then show got error cannot process.
