It seems like UM is back to stable recently. Enjoying the cheap internet.

The same cannot be said for my almost expiring Celcom 5G and I plan to terminate it when the contract expires next month. Celcom is getting from bad to worse at my workplace. Not worth the RM149 I'm paying for the connection.
*
Last week their connection was kinda bad, kept getting high pings during gaming session that just not usable. sweat.gif sweat.gif
Now seems ok, hopefully will keep going on like this thumbsup.gif

Can anyone tell me if uhome 5g is suitable for online MMO gaming ,very ping intensive due to boss raids .
*
I play diablo4 and POE2 with friends so far acceptable pings. Battlefield also ok. If the game u play have a server near your region maybe no problem i think hmm.gif hmm.gif

I have 2 sim card both from U Mobile, Postpaid 38 and UHome5G.
The findings i have to narrow down testing with X50 5G modem swapping sim card in between:

Postpaid 38 is uncapped able to reach 300Mbps (120GB quota limit) + hotspot enabled.
While UHome5G always hovering around 100Mbps. (1TB quota limit)

Bare in mind both sim card FUP utilisation not yet exceed limit.
The modem is fine and not faulty, i suspect is the provider speed capped my UHome 5G sim card.
*
Now thats weird, using UHome5G on my Tplink NX510v currently no problem getting around 250-300mbps download. hmm.gif
The last time i faced the speed seems like stuck at 100mbps was when i tried using UHome5G on it's own stupid ZTE modem/router. Can't get above 100mbps no matter what i did.. doh.gif doh.gif

Does anyone have any experiences with network instability during heavy rain? I had the WAN connection fail during some heavy rains in Puchong last week - once it even happened after the rain stopped

So far no, works alright even during raining period, tho i noticed the speed is a wee bit slower tho. hmm.gif hmm.gif

Anyone using TP-Link NX510v Router in here? Were u able to update it to the latest firmware? I can see thru the Router Web GUI and the AGINET app got latest firmware update from 1.15 to the latest 1.2 firmware but i could not update it, it kept failing to download the firmware over and over again.

QUOTE(yurie @ May 16 2025, 07:44 PM)
How much latency difference when using U Home 5G vs fiber Unifi? If by using UMobile Prepaid my speed test over 5g shows average 400mbps download and 50mbps upload with signal strength around -98dBm, is this good enough? Assuming this speed test represent what is to be expected on the actual 5g router.
And does the 5g router runs hot over 24 hours? Does it reboot, lag, become erratic at certain times?
*
1. Latency cannot fight fiber one, 11ns for fiber vs 24ns 5G at my area but all in all i don't really notice much in all my online gaming experience (D4 & POE2).
2. If the place u decide to put the 5G router u already check does have 5G connectivity, it all depends on the router then, my place if i use the UM ZTE router max speed i got is around 100mbps, but on my Tplink NX510v when i first used UHome 5G 600mbps is achievable, but nowadays it's gone down around 200-300mbps depending on the time and congestion.
3. 5G Router does run a bit hot, nothing can't be fixed with a proper router cooler fan, those cheapo rm20 would be enough already.
4. Reboot, lag and erratic is depending on the router u used, my tplink works fine 24/7 with proper cooling, i only automated auto reboot once a month just incase. Other router especially their stock free router the milage varies, some had faced constant reboots etc hmm.gif hmm.gif

Is your 5G connection spotty in your area? It could be the modem hard to lock on the N78 band hmm.gif

Can't do much then, i think your place is oversaturated with users during peak hours, need to wait and see if by UM building for the 2nd 5G network would lessen the load then. hmm.gif
When more users going to 5G network u can really see the speed drop, i used to get around 600mbps dload even at peak hour at my place, but nowadays speed would be around 200-300mbps daily. sweat.gif sweat.gif

take note that not all digi prepaid can use 5G.

i got a digi number with legacy plan it won't let me connect to 5G, only 4G, so speed capped at 100mbps.

One of the stupidity in Digi, last time my phone line with them also like that, die die tell u to upgrade their more expensive plan just to use 5G. doh.gif
In the end i jump ship to umobile 38 plan je.. laugh.gif laugh.gif

im looking for a router for u home 5g, not using the contract as i want to test it first
most important usage is gaming latency on pc/ps5
read few pages in this thread seems like there a lot of router model not sure which support my usage

and is u home 5g better than yes 5g?

Any of the Tplink's should be good.. Tplink NR200/NX510v/Deco x50 to name some.. hmm.gif hmm.gif

I am planning to terminate my unifi when the contract expires and switch to Umobile.
Many people here recommend to switch off the wifi in 5G modem and use another router as AP.
I want to know if old unifi router can be repurposed for this or is the router locked to unifi modem only?
*
If ur old router can change it's mode of operation from router to AP sure no problem. Got few tplink routers able to do this no problem. hmm.gif

Anyone living in area where umobile already done upgrading to their UM Ultra5G? Do you notice any speed upgrade to your UHome5G?
Just recently i noticed on my phone line it's displaying UM Ultra5G, did a speedtest on my phone and the speed really did boost up from normal speed, but when i test my UHome5G wifi, the download speed is the same as usual around 200-300mbps.
I did restart my NX510v router a few times but it doesn't make any difference. Mind you my router should be able to handle speed atleast around 600mbps++ because when i subscribe uhome5G few years back during time not a lot people using 5G it was able to reach that speed. Do you think umobile is somehow putting a speed cap on uhome5G users? hmm.gif hmm.gif

your hp sim is not suppose to be put into 5g modem router, just so you know, you would be lucky if UM didn't just ban your sim. don't pray pray. dont ever try that again. only sim from U home 5g plan is to be put into 5G modem.  tongue.gif
*
I am talking about uhome5G speed here, what does my hp umobile sim have to do with it? I have different a umobile sim in my phone, hence thats how i realize my place already got UM Ultra5G. sweat.gif
Did i somewhere said i was using uhome5G sim in my hp? I said Uhome5G wifi right? I am using my Uhome5G sim in my router hence the question hmm.gif hmm.gif

since you are using U Home 5G sim on your router, you should be getting faster speed if not better than your hp ULTRA5G wor, you may wanna check with TP Link why their router under perform liao! this is outrages router getting such lousy speed. hope they can give you firmware update of solution to your problem. hmm.gif

BTW, ultra 5G means SA, SA, SA! remember hor, check your router got support SA or not, in West Msia, 5G SA is Huawei end to end, In east Msia, 5G SA is ZTE end to end. just so you know. dry.gif
*
That's why i was wondering, when i first started UHome5G at my place my NX510v had no problem with reaching around 600mbps speed, it all goes down after around a year mainly due to more and more users are using 5G devices at my place i think.
I thought after they upgrade their equipment to UM Ultra5G and move all UM users to their network from DNB i could see the speed boost back to what it was before, but apparently i am not seeing it with UHome5G. Only my HP line seen speed boost sweat.gif sweat.gif

I did check my router spec and it does support SA mode.

TPlink NX510v:
5G SA : 2.4 Gbps(downstream) / 900 Mbps(upstream)
5G NSA: 3.4 Gbps(downstream) / 550 Mbps(upstream)
LTE: 1.6 Gbps(downstream) / 200 Mbps(upstream

Look for SA status in your tplink nx510v, best is to check the band for 5G NR it is connected to. Router spec can support, doesnt mean it is running SA. Verify it. If verify is SA but is still getting low speed. Means is not optimize radio, ring up UM. That should provide you answer. We are waiting your test result after you solve it. I maybe getting the ultra 5g sim plan myself if confirm it is definitely faster.

Check already, still connected to B28 band, that means still NSA right? hmm.gif hmm.gif
