let's just try to categorize bikes for this guy and all noobies, including me
first thing, bike type. there's just these few bike types around
1. super sport- fully faired
- crouching position
- uncomfortable at low speed
- e.g. Ninja 250, R1, GSXR, Fireblade, Panigale 1198, etc etc
2. street bike / naked- minimal fairing or even none at all
- as per name, easy to maneuvre in traffic / slow speed
- more upright riding position
- e.g. ER6-n, Streetfighter, XJ6, Street Triple
3. dual purpose (motard, supermotard, supermoto?)
- suitable for both road and off road
- almost upright riding position; tall suspensions
- e.g. Versys (not a true DP, but ok lar), BMW (what model?)
4. touring bike ?- suitable for very long journey
- usually very big cc engine
- e.g. goldwing,
5. cruisers / easy rider / custom- harleys, harleys, harleys
- harleys, harleys, harleys
- custom
feel free to edit, expand and give more details for newbies. at least those are what i understood when i was doing my (very short) research before splurging cash on an er6-n
