Hi! Would like to know what's the current CN set model for ultra40? Is this the correct way to flash to global rom? I'm planning to get a CN set to flash to global rom.

Not the full way to flash it
U need to unlock the bootloader first and to do that get need to get the code from Motorola officially
Other than that need the right firmware and better use a tool to flash it .. I think there is a website of the flash tool packager

Also might be better not to lock back the bootloader .. locking it may result a boot loop and it will be a very expensive door stopper

If you have no expertise in this better get someone who is to do it for you. You risk boot looping or bricking your phone.

The right website/forum is XDA.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/motorola...azr-2023.12779/

Read ALL the replies and not just the steps.
There are 2 things you can do:

1. Convert to Global ROM with unlocked bootloader
- with this method, you will see a nasty warning message every time you restart your phone telling you your phone has been tampered/bootloader unlocked.
- You also CANNOT update your software over the air. It will ALWAYS fail because your bootloader is unlocked.
- If you mess up with your phone, you can still go back to CN ROM safely.

2. Convert to Global ROM with locked bootloader
- If successful, you can happily use Global ROM with no warning message when restarting your phone
- You can receive OTA updates and install just like how you install software updates now.
- If you locked the bootloader but messed up with the steps, your phone will be bricked. Good bye Moto.

AFAIK, Fasttech will apply method #1.
Method #2 is quite tricky even for modders. You need to change the retail version from retcn to retgb and all those other little things which you can only find if you read ALL the replies.

Also, if all else fails (when your phone dies), you can go to LOLINET and ask an admin to help you fix it.
They will charge maybe around USD40-60 to fix your phone remotely. You can even ask them to do the conversion for you if you really want method # 2.

I modded my phones many years ago and if I do it now, I would still sweat and get nervous once I start with the process.
Modding is definitely NOT for people who are not tech savvy.

You will end up with an expensive paper weight.

True. Pixel phones are sooooo easy to mod/flash back to stock ROM. Google even provides the tool and firmware for you to flash your phone.

Btw, did you buy your phone from Fastech? Did they charge you anything when you sent back your phone for warranty?

Still. Although I am considering on converting to Global ROM so I can have a decent cover display experience.

Most of the cover display widgets are for Moto CN apps.
I would like to get the official Spotify widget for the cover display.

Hi all, Iโ€™m about to get 40 ultra soon. I have just read through this whole forum. So far I think Iโ€™m ok with CN rom as long as still can use the play store and google services. Iโ€™m attracted to this phone due to the front screen can use apps without flip open the phone.

Until i read this. Can you please elaborate more on this? Is it only china app can use front screen and not others? Or very limited app supports? Thanks ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Basically all the cover screen apps is the same except for Spotify cover widget. There is no Spotify cover widget in CN ROM.
Other than that, everything else is the same.

Oh and the Razr 40 Ultra 512gb has a huge price drown. You can purchase one for ~RM3.2k
