which of the following is better..? all about two years old  tongue.gif

1) artic silver 2
2) artic silver ceramic
3) thermalright SI97 supplied compound

ok..

i bought:-
- AMD x2 6000+
- ASUS M2A-VM HDMI
- 2x 1GB 667 Corsair ValueSelect

i adjust the chipset vcore to 1.4v, ddr2 vcore to 2.0v and processor vcore to 1.5v and set the bus speed to 220mhz and the system run at 3300mhz beautifully, the only problem is the CPU temp hovering around 56-58, is it a bit high?

i am using AMD stock cooler with the stock compound, will the above mentioned compound help? pls advise..  notworthy.gif

No thermal interface material will help you here.
Suggest you follow pws recommendation 1st to minimize unnecessary voltage use to achieve ur target speed.
Then only can settle temp prob.Always use 3rd party hsf when overclock.idle temp at around 58c will kill ur proc when it full load.
X2 temp change when full load is soo unbelieveable fast!!

why change chipset voltage? better stick to default~

56-60 is quite high for daily use~ better get new cooler or tell ur setting with some SS~

Even the best TIM that you use wont yield positive result with stock HSF. At most maybe only 1-3c difference. In your case, your temps arent looking too good, id advise you to lower your clockspeed/vcore to an optimal temp (max 65c on load). If you're idling on 56-58 thats not looking good, on load it might go all the way up to 70-80.

@tachlio
chipset voltage should be + 0.1v at least when overclocking your HTT to ensure stability. HT overclocking can improve overall system performance, in certain case (me), HT overclocking improves pretty much (1s SPI 1M) performance and it provides better stability @ 1400mhz on my 3.5Ghz overclock. Weird thing is, i can pass 5 hours orthos on 1400mhz(350X4) but when running 1050mhz(350x3), it failed the first 30minutes.

6400+ definitely a much much better choice...bcoz 5000+ is just another crappy Brisbane
you won't go to far with 5000+ , but it is a big yes if u use 6400+ wink.gif
Too bad 6400+ is too expensive , it is not competative at all in term of price performance ratio
in conclusion, F3 3800+ is the best laugh.gif

AoiNatsume,

I think it depend on mobo design and limitation with regards to increase voltage for chipset.
On my DFIi...im running 1700mhz HT link 24/7 with stock voltage. And the rig is stable in Orthos for many hour too.
But no doubt I did bump the voltage too, scared the stability issue.Mana tahu,it can stay put with stock volt. biggrin.gif
This actually a surprise to me coz I had thought the max is 1250 only...
