the hr guy was so dulan i didnt want to give my payslip and reference saying it will delay his processing speed if he had to ask me to provide it when they made the decision to hire me.

then the hiring manager interview me tells me their schedule is not flexible, but you might have clients calling after working hours for help, would you help them?

Cause they got thousands of candidate lines up currently. Unless you are exceptional, like IVY league or big cable for project if not you follow their process not they follow you.

Candidates that worth their salt, can always don't follow process and choose which employer offer they want to take. there is no shortage of offer for those that are good.

Don't blame those candidate that take 1.8k, if you are truly good they are not your competitors for jobs and neither will their acceptance of lowball offer affect you as different segment of employers.

there is always a spectrum to the freshie position, those in my Co's graduate program, the fresh grad pay is around RM6k for first 6 months, then after that gets sent to a few countries outside of home country for 2 years, for this period, monthly allowance is USD3k plus the original home country pay still jalan, after the program normally will be sent to high pot position, but of course interviewed 200 candidates, 1 also don't pass currently, Thailand got confirmed candidate 1, China got 4, Malaysia 0, Singapore 1, Indonesia 1, Australia 1, New Zealand 0, HK 1, so at the current moment only got 9 confirmed graduate program candidates...new meat for the grinder. Normal kuli freshie, my local ops hire I not sure how much they pay...none of my business also.

Fresh grad is company pay money to give opportunities to learn.
When already proven your capabilities, many companies will pay you big bucks to hire you.

1st company went from a role of leading a group of 2+2 technicians to maintain separate production line to restructuring no technician under me all need to do by myself, while still doing engineer jobs.

2nd company before covid do massive layoffs, my maintenance dept. 5 mechanical engineer reduced to 1 (left myself, because youngest & lowest paid).

Both time no salary adjustment, no work handover, no discussion on how to manage new workload, nothing. You're expected to figure it out because 'that's why we hire you as an engineer, to solve problems (of our own making).' Salary at both company around 3-3.5k. Though I heard after that factory usually like that, not for engineer live one

To think that my uncle who's 75yo now was getting 2.2k in the 70s as an engineer (not even the top one although he completed some courses)...

For all we know, this guy could be working in some small states like Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu or east Malaysia. Not everyone works in KL/Selangor.
Last time my celery also increased by 1.2k immediately after I went to Selangor, same position, infact the company was even smaller in scale compared to the company I worked in my hometown. Somemore no bargaining, immediately hired me after interview, I think that was because they were expecting me to ask for more than a 1.2k increment.
