Make an appointment next week online. It seems like need to advance 2 weeks to book the appointment.

Last 2 trip to SG failed to book. (Also tight schedule)
*
I wonder, with our last-minute mentality, how bad the q will be when it's closer to the due date.

Do give us a field report when you are there, ya.

It is still fine at last minute. Your money won't go anywhere. Just no dividend payout.

In the booking page, you don't have much choice of date and only shows to you the 2 weeks advance date available. And even got to book into time particular detail.

They have a choice of different cpf center to choose. And available date.
*
This is my reason for saying last-minute rush. Now, it's "relax, still earn interest".

And I won't rule out some people believing the money will lesap if don't claim by due date.

Hi, thank you for the update.

May I know which old/new IC you are referring to? Malaysia IC or Singapore IC?
Why do you need to provide Msia IC for them to search if you are/were a PR as your cpf account number follows the PR IC number kan?

I didn't apply for PR and not SG PR. I use MY IC to open CPF acc. So he got to search my acc using MY IC. And I look at him like having difficulty searching.

I ask him if now close the cpf acc and what happen later working back in SG and as PR. He said I got to return back all the money I took out into CPF.

Ah, I see. No wonder.

I can answer this, you will lose your PR status if you do not stay in Singapore after certain years.
In my example, I am late 40s, I left Singapore in 2006, initially I can still login CPF account to check the balance, but after 7 to 8 years I start discovered my Singpass cannot be used anymore and of course cannot check cpf balance, thus I start sending cpf via email and request for cpf statement alternate year. I was told and read many articles said PR will never be expired, I think it is not true if you do not renew your re-enrty permit after certain years, to be confirm I came to Singapore in years 2016, go to cpf office to verify with them, and was told the system show me I am no longer an PR.

So, in conclusion, PR can be expired if you do not work or stay in Singapore for long.
*
It's simple. PR ends if your re-entry permit expires while you are outside of Singapore.

100% agree, I am exactly in the same experience as you, feeling lonely and limited movement, although fill up with activities but still fell restriction, no regret and good decision to come back.

I am now earning almost the same as Singapore even after the conversion and now have a complete and happy family.

I do encourage the younger generation to experience the work life in Singapore, they have a good system and equal opportunities for everyone. I have many good friends/colleagues in Singapore from various background and country, and still in touch with them. Friendly, kindness and honesty is the key word.
*
If you don't dare to convert IC, it's even more stressful. You're neither here nor there, always thinking of balik kampung but too worried to do so. Then it's about the kids... they won't fit into Malaysian system well so you'll be separated from them if you balik kampung in future.

Anyone used CPF to buy shares/stocks? The shares will be converted to normal shares and stored in CDP account, right?

Thank you for the detailed write up. For Option ii, I followed your link and got to this page: https://form.gov.sg/63573e845cfdb20012171772

It says they will send a SGD cheque to the Malaysian address provided. That means must travel to Singapore to bank in the cheque? It says if we want to have the money transferred to Sin bank account, have to do it the normal way by post or in person at CPF office.

What documents did you have to submit? In the form NAC/CA/M 2023, I do not see any requirement for any documents to be submitted.

For those with expired re-entry permit (meaning no longer a PR), do you have to renounce your PR at immigration & checkpoint authority again?

Also, do you have to surrender the singapore IC to either ICA or CPF?

For using the "Write to Us", you will need to complete the form https://www.cpf.gov.sg/formcpfca. I print then complete and signed it before scanning.
Then I attached the form and supporting documents. The full instruction on how to submit that is as in the form.

The form in your screenshot doesn't work for me and my wife. After submitting we received email from that stating you need to complete CPF-CA.
Maybe the form https://form.gov.sg/63573e845cfdb20012171772 is for people with low amount only? IDK.

For option iii) you can choose to let them wire to you or received check, if you fill in Bank account and with letter from back to certify your account they will wire to you.
If you leave blank they will send cheque to your address. If you do not plan to go in to SG at all wire will be best option.
*
Ah, I see that we must select "Appeal - ...." . TQ

Compile as much of the docs here from here =>
https://www.cpf.gov.sg/content/dam/web/memb...LMdocuments.pdf

I think I gave these.

- Copy of my IC & passports.
- Letter of ICA confirming that the SPR status.
- Letter from the bank showing your name and account number.

The staff at the counter will take scanned copies, fill up the the form on their system. You then just need to sign digitally.

Add:

If you still have your Singapore IC and the entry permit, you need to return those to the ICA with a letter requesting the status.
- Level 3 ICA building, return the Singapore IC.
- Level 5 ICA building, return the entry permit.
They will issue the letter on the same day (spend about 30 mins there). No appointments needed.
*
This is confusing to me. I have read about this requirement in this thread from a few guys, but I am not able to see this requirement/letter stated in CPF's list of required documents.

Did the CPF counter staff specifically request for this ICA letter?

Yes. I also learnt about this from this forum previously.

If you're going to the High Commissioner office in KL, you also also request for this letter.
So I think you will need 2 trips.
Round (1), return Singapore IC and entry permit...
then wait for the ICA confirmation letter to be sent to your home address.

Round (2), certify the documents and submit those CPF forms.

Appointment lead time was then 4-5 months when I checked previously. mega_shok.gif

Did CPF staff ask for this letter? It's strange that they did not state this requirement in the checklist if this is required

The answer is no (I was at CPF Maxwell service center a few days ago).  CPF knows you are not a PR anymore.

An embassy may ask for the letter, because it has no clue whether or not you are still a PR, and it does not want to help a PR close a CPF account which is a waste of its time.
*
This is why I find it strange. Cpf asks non-PR to close accounts because they are no longer PR, even sending letters to those affected; takkan they need the letter from ICA to confirm what they already know.

That's why I wanted to know whether CPF staff asked for the letter, for those who closed account at cpf office.

TQ for the clarification.

Just a sharing,

14 Jun - Submitted online form for Malaysian CPF account closure
19 Jun - got a reply from CPF asking me to either mail form and supporting docs back to CPF or present at CPF Maxwell to submit all docs
10 Jul - Present at CPF Maxwell to submit all required docs, was told up to 16 weeks for processing
9 Oct - 12 weeks later, fund deposited into my Malaysia bank account

From the thread i can see the processing time varies on individual.
*
Meaning it's meaningless to submit the online form?

hi all, one question. my friend told me, by end of this year, they will crete the 2023 interest into our cpf. in this case, should we wait until next year only close the account?

is there a risk not to have 2023 interest rate (not pro-rated) if we close account now?
*
I doubt they will makan your interest this way. The risk of waiting is possibly facing a backlog later. You know how we Malaysians like to do things at the last minute.

they will pay your interest up to date (pro rated)before they initiate transfer of your CPF money, see above screenshot of my statement.

I see a "bank commission charges".

Did you arrange to have the money wired to Msia bank account?

How's the exchange rate like (compared to XE.com), and roughly how many % you kena pay commission?
