QUOTE(littlefire @ Feb 23 2023, 09:54 AM) Yes, people sell or trade in fast/early usually there is "some thing" trigger them, either the car, owner or other reason. I knew few business/rich owners and they are do keep cars which is over 10 years if it is good, for them their mindset is if the new car keep sitting/going in/out of SC, doing a lot of warranty claims or fix what do you think it will be good after warranty ends? Most of them don't like the hassle, even they do have multiple cars on hand and they don't like to waste money or time on a particular car too much unless they really like it. FYI, this group of people i knew mostly sworn never buy hybrid cars again.. Now they only go for pure EV or normal combustion engine. All mostly regretted and sold off most of their hybrids from BMW, Merc to Volvo. Only 1 hybrid being the exception is the Toyota/Lexus Hybrid system, seems that is the only 1 less issue and got more affordable aftermarket parts (halfcut) to fix nowadays. I've got a friend who's probably the opposite. He's got a 330e that he's really modified kau2 over the course of last year. Sometimes I'd see him turn up in the 330e. Some times he'd be driving a different car. When asked, he'd casually just say his Bimmer's in the workshop. Never heard him complain though. For him, he said it's part and parcel of owning a hybrid car. To quote him ... 'I bought the car fully aware of what I was getting myself into. There's really no point complaining. It's like marrying a high maintenance woman and then complaining about her. Then why did you marry her in the first place?' He loves his 330e to bits though. I guess it's about managing expectations.

That why i mentioned about the " unless they really like it." If you can spend the money and expect more time going in & out mechanic shop or SC than you are good to go. Go drive it. If YOU like it, then buy it. It’s a bargain. I would take a depreciated BMW PHEV over the engine equivalent cause you get more car for your money. Just need to check service history and if the battery has the 8 years warranty then you’re good. QUOTE(BigMan123 @ Feb 21 2023, 09:18 PM) Hybrid cars cannot turn off auto stop when car is stationary. Can be a nuisance in tropical country when air cond cuts off almost completely in traffic jam/ lights You talking from your ass? The BMW PHEVs can. And PHEV air con don’t cut off. TS talking about BMW PHEV, BMW don’t have any hybrids like Toyota. People like you just go around spew bullshit on something you know nothing about.

Up to individuals…if you think auto stop works for you.

Well, go to Auzrin fb page and search for a post yesterday night. Someone post in behalf of "How Mr. Yong destroys his BMW 330e hybrid batteries for the sake of research" and read it.
If not mistaken Mr. Wengyew Yong from BMW 330e club Malaysia shared the info

QUOTE(billy08 @ Feb 23 2023, 03:00 PM) Yes thats true also. I think I only see Prius C and not Prius on Malaysian roads here in Klang Valley. Why is that? Is it because of problems and replacing the battery is not an option due to cost? last time to fix the battery it cost a bomb but nowadays some below 5k can be done. my friend did have a prius c last time but towards the end of the warranty period there is an issue where UMW cant fix it. I cant recall what the issue but the car was in the workshop for almost half a year after repaired it was fine for awhile and then back to workshop again. In the end he sold it after waited for another half a year. most malaysian buy car with good resale value so hybrid car are not one of them. Really have no idea the main reason why we dont see them anymore.

But I totally salute and thank him for doing this. His conclusion is the same as what any smartphone manufacturer would recommend ... keep the battery charged between 20%-80%. Which kinda makes sense cause he charged his to 100% every single day and that destroyed all his battery cells. This also checks out with earlier complaints on the forum from those who didn't bother charging at all and needed battery replacements much sooner. Those guys probably had the battery below 20% most of the time

But your kawan prius-c waited for 6-months for repair.. wah low eh, how to tahan without a car for 6 months. lucky under warranty, if after warranty pengsan terus..
